Just moved here from GA and visited this vet because they were one of the only ones open on Saturday. Never go to this vet if you can help it! Lady working the front desk is completely incompetent and also rude. Calling in to request a prescription for our dog to be sent to our Walmart pharmacy has taken days and multiple phone calls. Vet smells horrible and prices are ridiculous. $600+ dollars for vaccination and a 2-3 minute "exam". Lastly, the vet tech recommended I shave my golden retriever, something you should never do with this breed. Again, avoid this vet at all costs.

Horrific! We took our golden retriever there and the tech said we should shave her in the summer. Whaaaat?! You never shave a double coated dog! I had to go back only to get our dog’s medication and the smell about took me OUT! Yes, most vet offices don’t smell like flowers. But good lord above! The urine smell is beyond horrible! It didn’t even smell like cleaning products mixed with pee. It just smelled like it was never cleaned. And the front desk lady is a joke! She’s either on something or just smooth brained. If you love you pets, DO NOT TAKE THEM THERE!!

DO NOT GO TO THIS CLINIC!!!!We took our dog there after we realized he ate something and it was the only clinic open. We waited almost 3 hours patiently not even complaining cause we were thankful we could just get in. It was getting near the end of the day and you could tell they were backed up.Long story short the doctor saw us for maybe 3 minutes, I explained to him we think he ate something cause he’s non stop throwing up and won’t move. He came back with three shots and before I could even blink he already administered them. He gave us two pills and said he probably is having some GI issues and sent us on our way.Our dog was practically tranquilized. He wouldn’t move, he just laid there like he was dying for almost 2 days. He wouldn’t drink water or eat food. I called the next day and said he isn’t getting better and he advised me what is happening is normal.THIS IS NOT NORMAL!I finally was so fed up with their half *** responses and lack of care, Monday morning he had the first appointment at Rutledge animal clinic where they found he was practically dying! No food or water since FRIDAY! We are on Monday now! They immediately did X-rays and within 15 minutes he was in surgery and had a 10 inch incision from having chewed up plastic hair ties. I would have paid ANYTHING to save my dog and have so much regret bringing him to this nasty place.I tried calling three days in a row to tell them and they just put you on hold, can’t wait to make an appearance in person.Photos are from when he visit Rutledge Animal Clinic when they found something WAS wrong!!DO NOT GO TO THIS CLINIC THEY LITERALLY DO NOT CARE !!!!!!

The animal hospital in Morristown with dr magnum is a joke. Waited 3 hrs with an appointment and walked out without being seen. There was only 3 people ahead of me in the waiting room and 3 hrs later still wasn’t seen with a sick puppy that has kennel cough and severe diarrhea This vet is a joke. The place is old dirty and a waste of time. He has no compasión for animals and shouldn’t be a vet. Useless

If you have any respect for your fur child, please do not take them to this place. I have never been in a vets office that smelt so bad. We had to wait and wait for the doctor to return from the bank. Come to find out, our girl was diagnosed as a diabetic. We went down there multiple times, yes, we did try calling but there was no answer. Get there and the lady at the front desk said oh I think she is having seizures! Wait, what?!? She has never had one before, it was not the time or her job to tell us that. Especially, with other people in the waiting room. I could tell you more, but I won't. Do your homework on this man, I would not send my worst enemy to this office.

I don’t really like to leave reviews, much less negative ones but my experience here was so horrible. I wish I could leave negative stars. This is hands down the worse vet or even service interaction I have ever had. I brought my senior dog (14) in for a mass that developed seemingly out of nowhere. At first, he said it could just be an infection so she was on antibiotics for a week. Nothing changed so we went back in to have the mass removed. I told him she was having trouble breathing so he did an x-ray and found out that she was full of cancer, just everywhere. He told me not to put her through the pain of removing the mass because she didn’t have long to take her home and call and schedule to have her put to sleep. I brought her home on Monday and called Tuesday to schedule to have her put to sleep the following Tuesday. During that week her health quickly deteriorated, I called to try to schedule sooner, they couldn’t do that. I asked if he could come to my house and put her to sleep. Not only did I not want her last day to be in a place she’s terrified of but also because the mass was getting so big, she was losing the ability to walk, she is almost 80lbs. They said he could do that, that he would call me. He never called, when I called none of the receptionists knew anything about anything. They don’t know when he’ll call or how much it will cost or anything. They would try to reassure me that he hasn’t forgotten he’ll be there today, he’ll call when he’s on his way. The fact that I’ve updated them on her condition, and it had gotten so bad that the mass was bursting did not prompt any sense of urgency or empathy. They just kept saying he’d call he’d be there. Mean while she lay there suffering. I tried calling other vets they are all booked or can’t come out. Thankfully, 5 Rivers Mobile vet was able to squeeze me in and come to my house, he was wonderful. The depth and breadth of my disappointment and utter disgust at how this place operates…there are just not enough words. If you can’t or don’t have the time to do something don’t tell someone you can or will and have them wait and their pet suffer. How a vet like this still open when they can’t seem to manage a schedule, the receptionists have no clue what’s going on or pretend like they don’t know and have so little regard for animals is beyond me. She may have just been an old dog to this place, but she has been my baby for 14 years. You should be ashamed of this behavior.

POOOR COMMUNICATION!!!!! Our dog was acting disoriented, we felt desperate to get him into the vet, we waited in the waiting room for 3 hours when they finally let our dog in the back the vet told us that they needed to keep him overnight to run tests, when morning arose we called to ask about him when we’d possibly get to bring him home, we called twice after that saying we’d have a call back when they didn’t give us one detail about our dog we were anxious and infuriated. Went to the vet. We asked to pick up our dog they said we couldn’t take him that it’s against the law to. DO NOT TAKE your animals here! The receptionist doesn’t understand worried dog parents and isn’t empathetic to the fact these are our fur family members and expect to know if our dog is in good hands or not. Not reassured!

I don't get all the bad reviews. My experience has been excellent. Would I like to have waited less time? Yes, but I understand that there is likely an animal that may need more immediate attention than mine at the time. Can't please everyone in this world not even trying to save their beloved pets.

He gave me some medicine to give her and told me to call him if it didnt help. Today, Saturday she's doing amazing and hasnt had a seizure since tuesday. If you're willing to watch your pet suffer longer in the waiting room for an hour 1/2 past your scheduled appointment time while the Dr. chats and has conversations best left outside of work, feel free to go here. -P.S. Receptionist lady was nice, no hard feelings.

Dr. Larry Mangum is the best Vet I have ever had. Doesn’t matter if it’s 2AM, 4AM, or Sunday, if my animals need him, he is there for us! With over 40 years experience and being the number one exotic vet in Tennessee (people will drive 20+ hours to see him for his expertise in farm/domestic/exotic). As a French Bulldog breeder it is imperative, I have a vet who I trust and can depend on to give my dogs the best care. Of course there are times where they get busy but Dr.Larry Mangum is worth any wait. Even on busy times I’m always seen in a timely manner. People need to understand it’s an animal Hospital and emergencies do happen. Dr. Mangum does exquisite c-sections and my female has healed up phenomenally. Being unhappy with my previous vet I am completely happy with Appalachian Animal Hospital!!! The staff is very sweet and accommodating! This is my approved vet!

IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE!! I took my cat here to be treated for a facial wound from fighting with another cat and they cut his whiskers off! He was sedated so I don't understand why! Other than they were too worried about getting out the door. Maybe they should reconsider scheduling appointments for 15 minutes before closing time!
