BEWARE. Bike shop hours are whatever random time the bike tech goes home for the day. They are not regular and are not the same as the store hours.

Shout out to Chris (manager) and his team. Chris did an amazing job and was very helpful replacing my shoes. Very knowledgeable and genuinely cared. Can’t say enough great things about this guy!

I came in with my pup and asked an associate on the floor to help me locate the pet accessories because I needed shoes. He began walking to the back and I followed him thinking that there was something he was bringing me. He came back out and said that the pet accessories are in the front and that he has to clean a spill from the floor. I was so turned off that I left. Such a strange interaction and a waste of time.

I had a fantastic experience at REI’s Memphis location! I drove 2 and a half hours from Little Rock, because I wanted to get fitted for my first backpacking pack and didn’t want to try figuring out how a bag should fit on my own. Mark, the kind man working in the backpack area, was absolutely FANTASTIC. We had a hard time finding a pack in my price range that fit correctly because of my body proportions, but he helped me for well over an hour, never made me feel like I was bothering him, and answered every single question I had. Not only did he show me what I needed to be looking for in a pack, but he was obviously really knowledgeable about all of the packs he had me try on. I wasn’t planning to buy a pack while I was there, but he found me one that fit well that I really liked, so I decided to go with it. I feel so much better prepared for my first backpacking trip than I did when I walked into the store. It was absolutely worth the 5 hour round trip drive. I’ve been an REI online shopper almost exclusively, but I’ll be making the drive to Memphis more often now. If you need a backpacking pack, Mark is definitely your guy!

So I went to Dick’s Sporting Goods today. It was closer to my house and I needed to purchase a new pair of running shoes for my 13-year-old who just started running cross country. I had looked online and I saw the Dicks sold Hoka’s and On Cloud shoes. Myself and my daughter went to Dick‘s today around 12:30. We walked to the back of the store. There was a young black woman standing near the sneakers. There weren’t any other customers around her, so we walked toward her. She never said hello, and never asked if she could help us. I initiated a conversation with her. I told her my daughter was looking for a pair of tennis shoes for Cross Country running. I told her that we were possibly looking for HOKAS. She replied that’s online only. I said well maybe we could look at a pair of ON CLOUD shoes. Again she said that’s online. We were standing in front of a wall of Brooks tennis shoes. At no point did she say well let me show you a pair of Brooks tennis shoes because a lot of runners like these shoes. Once I saw that she was not interested in helping us, I said aloud we need to go to REI.I turned around and walked out. I drove to REI on Poplar in Memphis. Myself and my daughter again walked to the back of the store. Immediately a man named chris saw us and asked how he could help us. I told him we were looking for a pair of shoes for her because she had just started running cross country and needed a better pair of tennis shoes. He offered advice on which shoes might be best for her. He gave us options. He went to the back and brought out multiple pairs of shoes in her size and told her to try them on and walk around the store to see what she liked best. He explained what features the different pairs of tennis shoes had that might be helpful to her as a runner.He also told us that if we should pick out a pair of shoes and use them for a little while and not like them we could bring them back and they could work with us. Chris’s customer service was superb. We bought a new pair of Brooks shoes that she loves and we were on our way in about 20 minutes. My advice to anybody looking for a pair of tennis shoes in this city is to go to REI and talk to Chris. Please skip dicks, as the young black woman told me today they are online only.

Nick waited on my wife this morning. She needed a new pair if tennis shoes. He was very knowledgeable about the different brand of shoes and he was able to get a pair of shoes that fit very comfortably on my wife's feet. She is very happy with her purchase. Being that she is on her feet most of the day as a school teacher, it was important to have shoes that fit correct and that they are comfortable. We will be back in the future. Once again, Thank you, Nick!

5 stars for Owen in the bike shop!
He literally kept my business for REI after the awful attitude from the other chubby dude.
This was back in December, but every time ive been back, Owen is super helpful.
