We really liked this zoo. One exhibit really needed to be cleaned, I think it was called BoBoa and it’s the first monkey cage you get to when you walk in. There was feces all over the cage and we felt bad for the monkeys that were sleeping in it.
Overall it is a nice zoo, they just need to clean some of the cages better.

This is an all day experience. It's a very large place with water park locations and a playground.

I cannot say enough great things about this wonderful Park. I make it a habit to visit the zoo wherever I go to a big city. This one did not disappoint and definitely earned its number two spot as far as the best zoo in the US. They had plenty of stopping points and enclosures during the rain. The cafe setup was pretty cool as it was around the outside of a monkey exhibit where the monkeys kept looking inside to see the patrons. The splash pad and small water park is a really nice addition, especially on a hot day. There were several gift shops with different items scattered through the park. I was a little disappointed that our Panda friends had passed away last year, but I am excited to see if they introduce new Panda friends soon. The red pandas were probably our favorite as were the nocturnal exhibit. Definitely worth the trip for kids and adults of all ages. They had strollers to rent and were very conscious of the animals with reusable products in their restaurants. There were plenty of bathrooms and they were all clean and any staff we came in contact with was very nice. I don't think that the price was exorbitant and we spent a good 4 hours here. I believe there are three playgrounds and also a petting farm as well. There was plenty of parking and it seemed to be set up pretty decently to be able to get to the front of the zoo no matter where you parked

The Memphis Zoo is a delightful destination for families, animal lovers, and anyone looking to enjoy a day outdoors. Nestled in Overton Park, the zoo features a diverse array of animals and engaging exhibits, making it a fun and educational experience for all ages.
One of the standout attractions at the Memphis Zoo has historically been the giant pandas. As of my last update, the pandas, particularly the beloved Ya Ya and Le Le, were a major draw, captivating visitors with their playful antics and adorable behavior. However, it's essential to check the zoo's current status regarding the pandas, as they have been on loan and may not always be present.
The zoo's layout is spacious and well-maintained, allowing for a pleasant stroll through different habitats. Each area is thoughtfully designed to mimic the animals' natural environments, which enhances the overall experience. From the Zambezi River Hippo Camp, where you can see hippos swimming and basking, to the Teton Trek, featuring grizzly bears and wolves, there’s a wide variety of wildlife to observe.
In addition to the animals, the Memphis Zoo offers numerous educational programs and interactive experiences. The daily animal encounters provide opportunities for guests to learn more about the animals and their conservation efforts. The zoo also participates in various breeding programs for endangered species, showcasing its commitment to wildlife preservation.
For families, the Memphis Zoo has plenty of amenities, including picnic areas, playgrounds, and food stands offering a range of snacks and meals. The atmosphere is family-friendly, making it a great spot for a full day of exploration and fun.
Special events, such as Zoo Lights during the holiday season, add an extra layer of excitement and make the zoo a year-round attraction. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to share interesting facts about the animals and the zoo’s initiatives.
Overall, the Memphis Zoo is a wonderful place to enjoy a day out while learning about wildlife and conservation. While the pandas have been a highlight in the past, the zoo offers a rich variety of exhibits and experiences that make it a worthwhile visit regardless. Be sure to check their website for the latest updates on animal residents and special events before you go!

Didn't see much as we were on a tight schedule but very impressed with the upkeep. We had black bean burgers for lunch, and they were really good.

We had a great time at the Memphis Zoo. We were disappointed that they didn't have a map to help us figure out which way we were to go. Alot of the exhibits (fish aquarium) was closed. The animals that we did see seemed to be happy with their environment and that was so good to see ?. Thank you for the work that everyone has done for the zoo!

Rubbish! Make the panda Lele died and not taking good care of pandas. You can see the difference between Yaya and Lele in China and in Memphis zoo. Don’t go to this zoo, if you go you are one of the killer!

The Memphis Zoo is a fun and expansive place, taking about 3 hours to fully explore. Starting in Cat Country is an exciting way to kick off the adventure. The splash zone looked like a blast, though I wasn't dressed for it. My favorite spot was the seal area—I never realized how massive they were until I stood close to the tank. There's so much to see and enjoy, though the aquarium wasn't as thrilling as I had hoped.

Very nice zoo. There was no map to show the layout of the zoo.

It feels like this zoo has gotten more expensive and worse in the last few years. It USED to be amazing but they've lost stingrays and no longer have pandas (although I do understand that they did the right thing by sending the sole panda back).
The worst part was seeing the Bonobo area covered in trash from plastic fruit containers. There were at least 20 empty, torn up, plastic containers all over their habitat.
Considering the zoo costs $60 for two people with parking, I just expected more. It seems like they've taken the money from the zoo and invested it in upgrading the pay kiosks and the animatronic dinosaurs (which we didn't see this time but based on the reviews is meh).
I will say the giraffe exhibit is great and currently has two babies. The younger blonde zoo keeper is absolutely great. We loved learning from him.
I hope this was just an off visit but I'm not going to be rushing back
