These vets could not distinguish between anxiety and arthritis. Prescribed numerous unnecessary meds. Gave bad advice regarding arthritis treatment once they finally figured it out. We wasted so much time and money with this practice.

THE best group of professionals hands down! They know me and my dogs by name and the staff greets us with a smile every time. I appreciate everyone's concern, level of knowledge and followup calls checking on my fur babes. I recommend them everytime. Kingston & Carson approves 100%

I brought my dog in Tuesday morning (6/11/24) during the 8 o’clock hour. She’s a diabetic dog that I feed twice a day because I have to give her insulin. She ate normally Monday at around 7 in the morning and around 2 or 3 in the evening she started throwing up. She didn’t have an appetite for her night time feeding and she had gotten to a point where she couldn’t keep down water. Which led me to bring her to the vet on Tuesday morning.
At the vet, I let them know every symptom including that I hadn’t given her insulin since the previous morning. I was asked if she could have gotten into anything that she wasn’t supposed to and I said that there could be a possibility but usually I would notice it. They took x-rays, told me that there was nothing abnormal to be seen and told me maybe she has food poisoning. The doctor said that she was a little dehydrated and I confirmed, “well yeah she’s been throwing up the water.” He said he wanted to put her on an IV to rehydrate her a little, he prescribed her 6 cans of dog food (different from her diabetic food that she was previously prescribed) and two pills. One pill was an antacid and the other an anti-vomit so she could not throw up. He also told me to not give her insulin for a few days.
When I left the vet, she had gotten progressively worse and she still wasn’t eating. Her stomach started to bloat, she couldn’t poop and she still had to vomit but couldn’t due to the anti-vomit medicine. The next day, I called the office at 8:37am. I talked to the receptionist and let her know what was going on. The receptionist asked me if I wanted the doctor to prescribe a stimulant to make her eat. I asked the receptionist if that would fix the problem because she was getting worse. The receptionist said that she would ask the doctor and she said that the doctor wasn’t in yet and she would give him the message and have him call me because I was also wanting to know should I stop giving my dog the medicine he prescribed because I didn’t think she was getting better and I wanted to know should I bring her in or give the medicine a chance.
I was expecting a call but when I didn’t receive one, I couldn’t wait any longer and I took my dog back to the vet around 2 or 2:30p. The doctor that I saw the day before wasn’t there so we saw a different doctor(Dr.Molly Smith). This doctor started looking for the underlying cause and addressed my dog’s diabetes. Her sugar levels were way too high and she had ketones in her urine and the bloating in her stomach was from a clear fluid. Dr. Smith gave her insulin and ultimately recommended that I hospitalize because she needed to be hospitalized for a few days. I took my dog that night to MVS in Cordova.
Well, on Friday morning I had to make the tough decision to put my dog down because she was suffering and didn’t have any fight in her. And on her last medical update that I received, they were still struggling to get her electrolyte/sugar levels balanced, she had black hardened stool backed up in her gallbladder, she had developed jaundice & pancreatitis, and she was bleeding internally from random places in addition to continuously having a clear fluid buildup in her abdomen.
Thank you to Dr. Molly Smith for her administering the appropriate treatment and making the appropriate recommended referral for emergency care. My experience Wednesday with Dr. Molly Smith was better than the experience on Tuesday with Dr. Rodney Balthrop.
My dog saw Dr. Rodney Balthrop on 6/11/24. I made the mistake of trusting his ill judgement. He prescribed medication that made my dog sicker and he prescribed 6 cans of dog food to a dog that was not eating. He also never addressed her diabetes. It is my belief that based on the care that my dog received from Dr. Balthrop, my dog was not treated properly nor appropriately by him.
I will not be returning to Eastgate Animal Clinic and I recommend for people with dogs with underlying conditions to avoid

They were so kind and loving to our Brittany! We got a scanable id tag for her. We are switching to this clinic for our cat as well. In March 2024, we had to put our beloved Brittany down. OH my goodness, the most heart-wrenching ? act of kindness I have ever done. The doctor was so respectful and compassionate! The staff were nearly as shattered as we were. The doctor explained her diagnosis, prognosis, and the humane option to end her life in clear, concise terms. He allowed me to FaceTime my daughter, and he explained Brittany's kidney failure to her. His delivery of this information was so gentle and hearfelt! The staff knew she was an integral part of our family as we became regulars! I am grateful they spoke to her so gently and lovingly as they gave her pain medication and euthanasia. Let me emphasize the care and concern they displayed before, during, and after they provided. This experience will forever rate 10 out of 10 for us. We were sent a single rose with the clinic's condolences! They truly put the human touch in humane!! I love the staff from door to door! I highly recommend them for all levels of pet care!

Dr. Balthrop and his assistant are excellent. Caring, great listeners, reassuring, professional.
The front desk staff is a completely different story, rude and unwelcoming.
