You can’t find any better than Courtenay at the Poplar location for American Tux. She went above and beyond to make sure that I was fitted and had everything done on time. I came in from Tampa because of the hurricane and she not only helped with getting my tux but comforted me and was as nice as can be. Highly recommend her for the best service you can find!!

There were 3 employees in the store and only one customer being me they refused to take my measurements insisting I needed an appointment. Would have been very understandable if they were busy but they just didn’t want to do there job was wanting to pay for the service too.

Hey my name is Harvierre English ( A.K.A John ) and Ms. Courtenay Elliott blessed me with a wonderful experience at American Tuxedo on Popular. What a wonderful, well experienced sales associate. I never order a suit in my life. PRAISE THE LORD, I was led to Courtenay. Her advice on which suit to choose, her concerns for my spending and budget, her conversation holding as she work, and her sense of urgency. She wasn’t rushing her work, but working with a passion and joy that she only could describe. Once again, thank you LORD for leading me to Courtenay. Now, I am all ready for my brother’s wedding. ?

The man that i believe owns this place way unbelievably rude, cold, and unprofessional. We were here to get bows for my aunts two year old baby boy that just passed. He made us feel as if we were an inconvenience to him when they had no other customers in the store. The lady's here were very nice and compassionate especially about the situation.

First off the tuxes are extremely overpriced for what we are getting. Was charged $250 for a tuxedo I was only able to keep for less than 24hours which in my opinion you can buy a suit for less than that. Also the quality of the materials is subpar. The fabric felt cheap, the shirt was dingy and the shoes were beat up. She also didn't give me enough studs for my tuxedo shirt. Most importantly though was the fit. I wasn't told until the day of that we couldn't alter the tuxedo. I am an athletic built man in my mid twenties and I like a tailored look to my suits. They don't have to be tight but I don't like a lot of extra fabric. The pants I put on were big enough to fit both legs inside of one pant leg and the lady told me there was nothing I could do about it. The shirt fit like a bedsheet and wasn't even a true French cuff tuxedo shirt. I would never recommend them and would never go back. Way too expensive for the lack of quality and lack of customization.

If you are in the Memphis area and need anything from a tux to a beautiful bow tie, LOOK NO FURTHER. This was my 5th time using American Tux and they are: quick, precise, and professional. Courtney has been doing this for nearly 40 years and her excellence and experience shows through in her work. Make American Tux your first call you will not regret it!!

The owner, Mike, completely customer blamed me because “I” didn’t call to verify my appointment. My appointment was made three months. Then he halfway says they have a new booking system and my appointment must have gotten lost. How is any of that my fault or concern? Mike pretended to be doing me a favor by “squeezing me in” because they were busy. So, they can’t help customers because they’re too busy and then blames the customer for it? Stay away from these incompetents.

Terrible customer service. For our upcoming wedding, we visited the store months ago. We just wanted to look but it was appointment only so we made an appointment for a week later. They weren’t very polite then but it gave it another try. We showed up to the appointment just to look. We decided on the look and made an appointment for a fitting. At that time, we told them the appointment would be for the groom and groomsmen (4 in total). It is now the day before the fitting so we called just to double confirm the appointment. Although, this is something a business would normally do…not the customer. We were told, very rudely, that they couldn’t accommodate our entire group and they could only make time for the groom. Folks, we made this appointment months ago! And we have folks coming into Memphis from out the area for this appointment. They “generously” made room on their calendar for the other guys to come in at various times on Saturday, right in the middle of the bachelor party. They customer blamed (saying we should’ve called to confirm it last week) but did mention some of the confusion may be due to a change in their scheduling platforms (moving from paper to electronic). Needless to say, we will not be giving them our business and will not recommend this location.
