DO NOT PAY HIM ANYTHING UNTIL THE JOB IS DONE. I hired Bryan for a small basement remodel job in June of 2021. He asked for some money up front for materials, (which should have been my first clue of a problem). Since i paid him $1,300 there has been nothing but excuses why he's been unable to even start the job. The only thing he did was deliver 3 sheets of drywall and 4 2x4's. After many weeks of excuses for not doing ANY work i finally asked for a refund of my money. He made more excuses and said he would pay me back ASAP. It's been a couple weeks and i haven't received any refund and now he is not replying to any calls/texts. I'll have to take him to small claims but based on other recent reviews, seems like there will be a line of people waiting to get their money back that he's stolen.Service: Remodelling

I have never left a complaint on google (or anywhere else). I tend to work eye to eye with hand shakes, but I decided to try and prevent others from being taken advantage of.Own 2 homes (100 miles apart)...Lenoir City home has a metal barn on a slab (30 x 40) we are converting to a music studio... Lots of projects at barn and home to do, but first step in the barn (and good test for new handyman) is making the roof not leak. Found Bryan Gillis online. He looked at project and tells me he can seal the roof for $1800 (total labor/material)...remove roof nails, underlay with mastic, replace with screws, then replace the ridge cap and side trim. The project will take 2-3 DAYS. April 1st 2021Said he would probably start on the weekend and finish by Monday/Tuesday (6th)...No show weekend thru Tuesday then calls to say "Sorry" Will be there Wednesday and done by weekend. It rained Wednesday but they came Thursday .They accidently dropped the power pole off the barn on Friday and had me call the power company to disconnect. Bryan refused to answer the phone until too late on the weekend to reconnect power. But he did call to say that I needed to call a credit card into Home Depot to pay for supplies he needed for the power box and he slid the ridge cap and trim onto that bill ($300) He then started asking for money. $2600...that's the original quote plus $800 for the downed pole and he needed at least half of it in cash.Unfortunately I wasn't there and my wife made the mistake of writing the check with a Bryan Gillis "Guarantee" that the side trim and meter box would be complete the next day. This was April 11th. On April 12th the power company came and refused to reconnect due to a meter lug missing AND now they will require a permit and inspector to clear the box. Bryan doesn't answer phone for 3 days. He then calls to say the meter is 100% ready. I get a permit ($30) and an inspector, who again fails the meter because there are bare wires hanging from the box. 3 more days of no Bryan and then I'm told by a random worker with my phone contact, that he is in California. (Ends up being gone April 12 - May 5)Long story longer...this was day 12 of a 2-3 day project. From then to the present Day 46 of a 2-3 day project we have had many frustrations.Bryan called to tell me he was sorry multiple times and I heard the word "Professionalism" more than I care to mention. But I also had...Worker calling to ask for a rideWork not done because workers can't find rideThe entire job being passed to one of his workers that I did not know, that also made many promises but failed to show up...and I was told by Bryan to "tell him he is Fired" if he called me again.3 separate and embarrassing attempts to reconnect power to be told my electrician is d*** (each $30)10-15 trips (each 200 miles round trip) to see if my property is safe due to his refusal to text or answer callsWorker not able to get a ride home trying to sleep in my barnWorksite is a train wreck...food wrappers, old roof nails all over yard, trash all over yard.On Thursday May 6th Bryan reportedly returned from California and on Friday, he said he had personally finished the side trim and the meter box was ready (minus 1 thing he would do Saturday)...That was the last I ever heard from Bryan Gillis. Still no power because he never verified that one thing got done. And upon my arrival back to the barn...the side trim and wires hanging out of the box had been untouched. He had not even been there.I even texted him a last chance to do the right thing and finish this weekend (the first time I've been off work to supervise any of this) but he has vanished. So learn from my mistakes...don't pay a dime until the job is all the way done...and don't believe a handyman that says "I'm not an electrician but I can handle anything you have for me..."As for me...my project $$ has basically been stolen...the barn still needs side trim and NOW I need an electrician. As for Bryan Gillis..

Do not use.Contracted him to fix two exterior doors and do some interior drywall and light replacements. The kitchen light switch was wired with the wrong type of switch. Took his guys over a full day to replace two overhead lights. Took almost a week to replace a single exterior door because for some reason they decided to build a whole frame instead of just using a pre-hung door.Had Home Depot call me to charge materials, and he tried to get me to pay for a whole bunch of stuff that had nothing to do with my job. I did it anyway as he said he'd take the extra amount off of the final bill. He ended up ghosting me entirely with the remaining work unfinished after multiple attempts on my part to contact and get the work completed.Service: General repairs

I just had some termite damage around my basement garage door repaired and a new basement door installed by BYG Home Improvement. I can completely recommend them for handyman work. They did a very professional and through job. They showed up on time, completed the work in the estimated time and cleaned up after themselves. He was very detailed oriented and made sure all aspects of the work met his standards.

Bryan came over to my house on October 10th, he was very prompt and on time at 8 a.m. which means a lot to me. He worked on my walk-in tub and put new cartridges in the faucets that were leaking and had to take a fiberglass panel off the front which he did expertise, there was quite a bit of caulking to do you remove the old caulk and installed the new caulk around all parts removed and he did an excellent excellent job I am very happy and pleased with Bryan's work. I would highly recommend him for any project in or outside your home.

Bryan has a great eye for details and offers his services at a fair price. He and his crew did a great job on our home improvements and we highly recommend them.

Avoid the hassle of trying to get him to do a small job or risk the chance of poor quality work. This guys took my mother for 200 and didn't complete the job. A simple carpet patch job turned into a wasted week of tag on the phone. What work he did do was terrible. He had no intention of coming back to finish what they agreed to and left her hanging for 2 days.

BYG Home Improvement, Bryan Gillis, owner, did a fantastic job for us fixing a ceiling fan and a light switch. He is very knowledgeable and takes his time - fixes things right the FIRST
time. He also shows up when he commits to the time. Unheard of these days.

After purchasing a new home there were a few bathroom upgrades needed. We chose BYG Home Improvement after a few minor jobs completed. We were pleased with Bryon as a person and a craftsman. In my opinion if he takes the task he will give 100%. He completes the task as if he is working for himself. My wife and I were very pleased and will contract his services again when the need arises. Expect the best with BYG.
