I always appreciate good recommendations for auto repair shops, so I wanted to share one that I had a great experience with. My truck needed the transmission rebuilt after the infamous crappy Chevy torque converter went bad and messed up my transmission. The truck wouldnt stay in any gear. I was referred to a shop from a mechanic friend, Transmission Masters in La Vergne. I called them and told them what was going on with the truck. They quoted me for a transmission rebuild and laid out plan to upgrade the components to a heavy duty transmission, which I was going to ask for since the factory transmission is infamously suspect in my model but didn't need to because they informed me they do this standard for transmission rebuilds on my model. Dropped the truck off and they looked at it same-day and confirmed it needed a transmission rebuild. Told me it would take 5 business days and they got it done in 4. Super communicative the entire time. Gave me progress updates throughout the week. Repair costs were exactly what they quoted me on the first call. Fantastic customer service. Truck is running better than when I bought it. More power in the lower gears. Shifts like butter.
If you need transmission work done, I HIGHLY recommend Transmission Masters in La Vergne. I'm very impressed with the whole operation and the work they did.

Great people that will take care of you. Our Transmission Hot light came on when traveling back from vacation. They tested temperature, added coolant to radiator which was low making sure we were taken care of before getting back on the road. Would not even take payment. This company cares about people. Made it home fine. Thank you!

I called in today to discuss potential transmission repair on my Mercedes S550 , guys at Transmission Masters spent 30 minutes on the phone with me , talking about possible reasons and causes for my transmission issues, finally we decided there was no need for any work , and probable cause for my problems is that vehicle just needs to warm up for 10-15 minutes before driving it … I really appreciate honestly , and time these guys took , to help me out , I will definitely use Transmission Masters for all of my transmission repairs and services in the future …

Way way expensive they replaced a transmission Nissan Pathfinder $5300, $1500 was for 10 hour labor charge. If you look at the parking lot employees have 50+ thousand dollar vehicles. compare prices before you commit to them.

This review isnt really based on their actual work since in the end, we didn’t end up using them to fix our problem, but more so this review is based on the poor communication that we had with them….here’s a break down of the incident we had with them. We called them on a Thursday morning, asked for them to look at our vehicle, they sounded very nice and said, they would love to take a look at it for us and to bring it in Friday morning right at 8am and they will get it looked at it and call us with what they found. So we did just that, brought it in on Friday 8am. Friday afternoon no call from them. Saturday and Sunday, they are closed. Monday no call from them. By Tuesday mid day, we called to see what they had found, didn’t even know who we were but found our vehicle and said they will look at it by the end of the day and get back with us.Tuesday afternoon, no call. Wednesday, no call. Thursday no call. By the end of the day Thursday we called to see if they had found out anything on the vehicle since they have had it for a week now, again, has no idea and by the sounds of it, didn’t even look at it yet and In the background of the phone call I can hear them in the back ground talking about getting the code off the vehicle and see what it can be real quick. After a few minutes and hear people scrambling to come up with an answer and give me a random price over the phone to fix it, they came up with some kind of price and I just said ok let me think about it…at this point in time I’m on my phone already scheduling an Uber ride to get me over there to pick up my vehicle since obviously they havnt even looked at it yet but said they did and would, so why would I want someone to work on my car when they can’t even communicate on diagnosing it in on the first place. ….. so I went and picked up my keys and drove it straight to the dealership and they got me right in same day for a few hundred dollars more…. Moral of the store, their communication is very poor and needs to not promise people things and not deliver.. if they were open and honest with us and said, “we are sorry but we are a week or 2 behind till we can see it” then that’s totally cool atleast in that time I can figure out another vehicle ride situation while I waited. But since they said they can look at it and get it in, we waisted an entire week without a car and could have just got it fixed at the dealorship for a few extra hundred bucks and been done with it….so I am sorry to write this, but I hope they get a little more honest and upfront with people to begin with the eta of peoples vehicles. Becouse it’s already hard to be down a vehicle, but to not know for how long, that’s even worse.And just a heads up, your vehicle isn’t secured while there. The vehicles are parked outside where at any time someone can come vandalize it. So that made us kinda scared after a week of it just sitting there

Went by this shop Tuesday morning to see if they had any availability to get my vehicle in for a transmission swap. The employee at the front desk said if I could get it there the next morning then they would pull it in and start working on it. Sing as I did not have the transmission yet, I drove all the way to Memphis and back that afternoon to pick it up to have it ready for the next day. I dropped it off Wednesday morning and asked for them to keep me informed since I am self-employed and would be losing money everyday my truck sits. After 3 days of hearing nothing I call on Friday to get an update to see if I can schedule work for the next week and if I need to extend my rental. They informed me that they had not touched it yet and we're planning on getting it in by the end of the day. I drove up there 10 minutes before they closed and they were closing garages but my truck is still in their unsecured parking lot with a $4200 transmission exposed to the elements. I went inside and the guy at the desk said that they would try to get it in Monday. I informed them that the reason I chose to take my vehicle to them over another transmission shop was because of them being able to get to it as quickly as they had promised. However with that being untrue I was now losing money and did not feel comfortable with him leaving my truck and $4200 transmission exposed in their unsecured parking lot. The guy at the desk said that he could give me my keys back, which he did. I have now lost $1500 of work, spent $250 on a rental, and will still need to find an honest transmission company. If they would have informed me they did not have no availability this week I could have kept my truck and kept working. Instead they lied to me so I would choose their business and did not have one measure of respect for me as a customer to give me a phone call to keep me in the loop. But it does not surprise me the guy at the front desk made it clear he did not think my business was important to themService: Transmission

They were very unprofessional, I will not be trusting this place anymore. Not only did they lie, we lost money from our business because we trusted them to get our company vehicle fixed. Also suggesting our business is important was very RUDE and unacceptable.
