I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Oliver Hotel in Knoxville for 2 nights while attending a University of Tennessee football game. I also brought my golden retriever which the hotel was very accommodating in allowing dogs. It's an incredible hotel, and it exceeded my expectations. Though it offers all the luxury and amenities of a large hotel, it maintains an intimate, boutique feel that makes you feel very comfortable.
The dining options were outstanding. The staff was incredibly warm and welcoming, always attentive without being overbearing, and they genuinely seemed to enjoy making guests feel welcomed.
The central location in Knoxville was ideal, putting everything in the city within walking distance including the football stadium.
In all, a great hotel to choose in Knoxville.

I literally only went in the lobby and snapped pictures but every single person who saw them on my Instagram stories raved about their stays there so one day I hope to be one of the people who actually gets to stay there.

Incredible hotel with an incredible staff! Booked this hotel as a last minute 'staycation' and I could not have been more pleased.

The room was gorgeous! Super clean and very unique. I highly recommend you check out this hotel if you are ever needing a place to stay in Knoxville! Or, if you just want a relaxing 'staycation!'

A charming, elegant, sophisticated boutique hotel located in downtown Knoxville, TN. While my stay was only one night, I will be returning to Knoxville, TN for a longer visit which will require a stay at The Oliver Hotel.
I was met at the door for Valet Parking upon my arrival. Check in was quick and offered a complimentary glass of champagne.
The area is booming with restaurants, bars and very walkable.
No detail was left out in decorating the rooms. Rooms are spacious and full length mirrors were just the added touch needed. Housekeeping does a wonderful job and pay attention to detail in cleaning.
Hotel is a quiet, serene escape with a restaurant and speakeasy bar. I highly recommend the fritters and the drinks. The menu itself was not fussy, and had something for everyone.
The staff was pleasant and professional. Guests in the hotel were pleasant and friendly.
The owners have done a wonderful job of providing a hotel stay that only a boutique hotel can give...pleasant, sophisticated, charming, inviting, and detailed oriented.
Will definitely be returning to The Oliver Hotel in Knoxville, TN.
Rooms: Spacious, decorated beautifully.
Nearby activities: Lots of restaurants and bars. Very nice location.
Safety: Very nice no issues.
Walkability: Reminded me of the French Quarters in New Orleans.
Food and drinks: Great speakeasy and restaurant with a wonderful menu of drinks and food.
Noteworthy details: Just a charming boutique hotel with a candy table on each floor. Just a pleasant surprise when you get off the elevator.

I have stayed in the Oliver several times. I recently stayed there for a couple nights to celebrate my birthday. The hotel is not what it used to be. We stayed in a suite….there was no refrigerator and no functioning coffee pot. That’s a game changer for me. I probably will not go back again….very disappointing.

I stayed in a suite that had like 16’ tall ceilings and the decor was stunning. The linguine bolognese and a s’mores desert from the Oliver were incredible. I loved the bath products.

Great visit to the Oliver Hotel. Service was terrific. Rooms were very nice. The location was great. We were walking distance to so many great places within the downtown area. Market Square was a simple stroll. We end each night with a night cap at the cozy bar (library). Highly recommend.

I want to clarify that I have no complaints about the front desk staff—they provided exceptional service throughout our stay. However, I do have concerns regarding Trey, the bartender at the Oliver speakeasy.
During our work-related stay at the hotel, my husband and I would meet each evening with his attorney in the Speakeasy to discuss the day's events. On the second day, we were the only ones there, anticipating a quiet atmosphere. Unfortunately, Trey's friend or acquaintance arrived, and their loud laughter disrupted our conversation, making it impossible for us to hear each other. We chose not to confront Trey about this.
Later that evening, after dinner, we returned to the Speakeasy for drinks. We were informed that we couldn't be served until a table became available. However, the waitress, Cam, kindly offered to take our order as a table was about to open up. A woman we didn't know generously invited us to share her high-top table so we could enjoy our drinks while waiting for the other table. Despite being seated, Cam relayed that Trey refused to serve us. Even when the awaited table opened up and we moved there to request our drinks again, Cam reiterated that Trey would not serve us. Trey had apparently gone to the front desk to discuss us with the manager. We followed and found Trey conversing with the accommodating front desk staff, who had been so pleasant to us during our stay. While we don't know what was said, we explained our situation, and the front desk staff expressed regret, stating they lacked the authority to resolve the matter and were surprised by what had happened.
Although the front desk staff and Cam were exceptional, Trey's unexplained hostility toward us remains perplexing. When I later approached Trey after his discussion with the manager, I stood at the end of the bar to speak with him. He accused me of blocking his way, suggesting I was attempting to trap him. This accusation was unfounded and deeply offensive.
Despite staying in the "honeymoon" suite for business purposes, we were unable to enjoy a drink at our own hotel's bar and had to seek alternative options. This treatment was unprecedented for us. It appears evident that the hotel may lack effective leadership, possibly even a General Manager. If one is in place, significant operational improvements are warranted.

Thanks for the great hospitality and making me feel welcomed. This place has a great soul to it. Also one of the smoothest elevators I have ever been in.

The Oliver Hotel was a very nice place to stay on our recent anniversary trip. We were fortunate enough to get the Market Suite that over looks Market Square. Upon entering the large unique Oliver Hotel door, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The downstairs of the hotel is decorated nicely and they do offer you fresh infused water.
Like many boutique hotels while unloading our luggage on the street the bell hop came to assist. I was startled at first however, because he did not have any identifying clothing that stood out that he was an Oliver Hotel employee and he did not say a word. We kept looking at him wondering what is the man doing?? I first thought someone was trying to steal our luggage. Same when leaving, another man with no identifying clothing came to get the cart and said nothing but just standing and waiting. While you are busy loading and unloading you don't know where they came from, the street or the hotel. Leary because we had been approached by three different homeless men in Market Square asking for food, and money. Bellhop attire would be more attractive or at least announcing who they are and at your service.
Our room, the Market Suite. For our anniversary my sister had ordered pastries from a local shop and had them delivered and the hotel staff had already placed them in our room. The hotel also wrote us a very heartwarming note to us for our anniversary along with a sampling of their candies and free drink coupons to the Speak Easy bar downstairs.
Our room was very clean, with large windows in the bedroom that opened to a view of Market Square down below. The room was quiet and very large, with a living room that also had a small refrigerator, sink, full size dining table, coffee machine and coffees. A hallway, a bathroom and a large bedroom. The few online pictures do not do it justice. No microwave.
Sheets are clean and pressed. Large televisions both in the living room and bedroom. Night side tables beside the bed were a little worn with finish gone and the lamp had visible stains of something being spilled and tarnished. A few spots on the carpet in the living room. I just hate to see a few blemishes in a near perfect room.
We did not attend the Speak Easy bar as we do not drink. I peaked in and it looked very inviting. We parked the car ourselves in the parking garage that is not very far away. They also offer to park it for you. It also seemed very controlled and safe. It was a short walk back to the hotel. We dined at Tupelo Honey which is adjacent to the lobby of the hotel. It was reasonably priced and very good.
Market Square is a short walk right around the corner offering quaint shops and more restaurants. Very safe feeling as there is a police presence. One night, there was a concert at the far end for entertainment. Gay Street that also offers many shops and more food options was just a block or two down. The hotel sits in a very good location, with the Sunsphere also not a very far walk away.

The hotel is beautiful and the location is great. However, I had a ring stolen from my luggage during my recent stay. I had left quickly to go to a rehearsal dinner, and stuck the ring with a couple other pieces deep in my luggage. To my surprise, the ring was stolen while I was gone. This ring was given to me by my late Mother and is irreplaceable. I have reported to both the Oliver Hotel as well as the police. The Oliver has not followed up with me at all.
