First time here and I'll be back. Rarely have I experienced the level of customer service the guys working gave me. I was searching for certain kayak parts for a lower end start out, unfortunately they didn't have what I needed but those guys looked high and low to be sure.New to the kayak scene not into backpacking, hiking, camping, cycling that type stuff but have mercy they have such a selection of stuff that is so useful in general. Believe I nosed around for about 2 hours and seen some things I didn't know existed.They have one of the best selections of high end and mid level kayaks I've ever seen.River sports outfitters, keep up the good work and thank you for being pleasant and helpful.

I have purchased many kayaks from River Sports over the last 25 years. Great selection and helpful staff. I've enjoyed shopping there. They have recently added customizing your kayak.

I've known Ed and his team for over 40 years, which just happens to be how long they've been in business (40th anniversary this year! Congrats!). I've bought all kinds of gear here, including, of course, my first canoe, a Mad River 15'. I still have it, and I still love it.River Sports truly cares about their customers and their buying experience, and they are always looking for new and innovative products to bring to Knoxville. Don't know what you need? They take the time to explain the different options, always in a friendly, laid back way, never pushy. In the rare event that there's an issue, they make it right.Local stores like RSO are becoming rare, sadly, and when given a choice between local or Big Box, I choose to support them because I want them to be around for another 40 years. Thanks, Ed, Brooke, and the entire RSO team, for continuing to be a part of our amazing community and for being my outfitter of choice.

I’ve always loved River Sports Outfitters, and have spent thousands of dollars at the Knox location.An incident there, yesterday changed all that. I will no longer patronize any of their stores.I had stopped by the Knox location and spent about 45 minutes browsing. Towards the end of my visit, I used the restroom, came back out to the sales floor, purchased a pair of pants, and exited the store.As I was making my way to my truck, a store employee caught up with me and said, “I hate to ask you this, but our owners ask us to, but do you have anything in your pockets?”, and then he asked to see the contents of my pockets and I promptly obliged him. I dropped the bag, took out my cell phone, keys, wallet, change, and a napkin I had shoved in a pocket after lunch. I have never attempted to steal anything from there, or anywhere! I picked up my things, went to my truck, and then turned around, went back into the store, and returned the pants. I’ll never step foot on River Sports Outfitters property again.

I thought about giving them a two but, I'm a long time customer. I came to the store to buy two ebikes and left with one. To shorten the storyline, they got the wrong color ebike in an didn't want to order me another ebike. The salesmen/manager is supposed to call me. I haven't heard from them in a week, so I'm moving on . Still haven't heard from them.its been about two weeks still not heard anything.

This store has everything you need for your next outdoor adventure! The sales associates are next level - specially Adeline, Brooke, and Brian! Brian was made for sales, Adeline is thoughtful and helpful, and Brooke is patient and knowledgeable. The store can be pricey, but the quality of the items is worth it! They recently had a great sale with up to 50% off. Stop in next time you're nearby!

Staff is always kind and helpful, very laid back atmosphere. I was looking for a PFD for paddle boarding and they had a really wide selection that I couldn’t find elsewhere.

Love this place, great staff, great service. Buke and kayak/canoe rentals, all the outdoor gear and clothing you could ever need. Plus the climbing center in the back.

We bought a cargo box for our van. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful by helping show me how to install it properly on my car and helped adjust my roof rack. One of my keys wasn’t the right one somehow, and they took initiative to swap out the locks to get us 2 working keys. It ended up being no hassle at all, unlike an online delivery would have been. Thanks, guys!

I got some climbing shoes from them that fell apart faster than I thought they should, I took them back to river sports and they helped me warranty them! They are incredibly helpful and wonderful!!

I allowed them to fix my Hobie MD-180 drive. When I received it 2.5 months later the cables were torqued down extremely tight. This is not in alignment with appropriate maintenance of these specific parts. This type of care leads to early failure, expensive repair, and is a massive detriment to the seasons' tournament opportunities that is earned by participation of events throughout the year.

Very disappointed as I had been looking for a grey ghost old town kayak. After finding the had one available, I ordered and paid. Then went and ordered all the extra items such as graph, power pole, etc. I get a call saying the website is wrong and there is no free shipping. The manufacturer says to charge 100 bucks but they said it would be around 700 to ship unless I drove from Texas to Tennessee. The owner wouldn’t do a single thing to help or alleviate anything. When I visit Kentucky lake for the national championship this year which I just quaked for I plan on not visiting here.

Called a day beforehand to reserve a Pocket Canyon canoe. Assuming I would have to pay 1/3 to hold it. I was informed that if I was really going to come in and purchase the canoe. They would hold it. I arrived late but it was there. The staff was supper friendly and loaded it on my car for me. Offering rope and foam blocks if i needed. Overall I would buy from this outfitter again. Oh I came from Dallas Texas and did business with these guys and would do it again. Great people!
