Company is toxic and predatory. This usually takes the form of them signing you up for a multiyear contract. In my personal experience, I got a membership and the guy told me it had to be a two year contract. I called his bluff, and he offered me a month to month contract. When my wife signed up though, she assumed it would be month to month, and the guy put her on a three year contract without mentioning it. When I tried to get them to fix the issued, they threatened to sue if we stopped making payments. Three years later, we have nothing but contempt for these people. If you look them up on the Knox County General Sessions, you'll see they've got hundreds of civil court cases pending. These peoples' business relies on a model that's a cross between the credit card industry and the used car sales industry, where they use manipulative sales tactics to get you to sign for as long as possible. If you pay great, if you don't, great. They'll sue you and collect interest to line their scummy pockets.

DO NOT COMMIT TO ANY CONTRACT WITH NATIONAL FITNESS CENTER. NFC engages in "Bait and Switch" scams and Corporate abets their fraudulent behavior! This is what happened to me: I spoke with a NFC "membership consultant" who promised me these terms and conditions: 1. A month-to-month membership where I would pay $39.95 per month; 2. I would be allowed to terminate the membership agreement by giving notice to NFC Merchant before the next billing date (the 17th day of each month). I also informed the employee that I CANNOT enter into their "suggested" 3 year contract. Once we agreed on the terms, he had me sign an electronic signature block on the computer. I signed multiple signature blocks and he orally explained the purpose of each block. I was not provided with a written agreement to read and did not sign a paper contract. Based on everything that he told me, I believed I was signing up for a month-to-month gym membership. I later found out that the NFC employee had signed me up for a 3-year term agreement. In short, NFC defrauded me. To peacefully resolve this dispute, I wrote a letter to NFC Vice-President, Mr. Randy Williams, under the assumption that NFC Merchant does not engage in this sort of bait and switch tactic on a routine basis. The NFC Board of Directors, however, refused to cooperate. I did not learn I was a victim of fraud until I contacted NFC Merchant to cancel my membership. I had a change in my financial circumstances and cannot afford a $39.95/month gym membership. The purpose of this review is to caution other foreseeable victims from NFC, Merchant's misrepresentation of their terms and conditions. I also filed a formal consumer's complaint with the Attorney General because The Tennessee Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) "protect[s] consumers from unfair and deceptive practices in the court of trade and commerce." T.C.A. § 47-18-109.

In my opinion you shouldn’t go near this place unless you are good with an impossible to get out of contract. I think they are so shady. And Kim in billing seems extremely rude over the phone.

Really like the upgrade of the club on Merchant's. I would recommend this one to anyone who I knew was wanting to start working out .

A good way to get fit. Newer equipment and friendly other gym goers. Currently undergoing renovations so I can’t wait to see the finished results

Staff is extremely friendly. Love the cardio theater. New movies all the time and really helps pass the time. Plenty of equipment and never too busy in the evenings. Quiet, spacious, and comfortable. Love it!

I have to say I am very disappointed in Court South or National Fitness. As much as you pay for a membership, you would think you would be entitled to a few necessities. I understand you are remodeling, but to still be open and not have access to a restroom is just UNBELIEVABLE AND UNACCEPTABLE. It is bad enough your customers cannot use the restroom, but what about your employees. And in this day and age of Covid and the Flu, not being able to wash your hands is, well, spreading germs on the equipment. You would be better off closing until the remodel is done, because closing half of the gym and forcing everyone into a 500ft area with no restroom is just crazy.

I am currently a member of court south national fitness in Knoxville TN. I recently became a 100% disabled veteran of the marine corps last month. My injuries do not allow me to work out anymore. I got medical letters that they requested and two letters from the veterans affairs of this issue. The management department has denied my cancellation 3 times now. They said there’s no disability clause after asking for all of these letters…. When asked for a letter of the reason for denial, they could not provide a letter. This place has been unclean, green pool, nasty equipment, and bad child care. If I could give it a zero review I would. Do NOT get a membership with national fitness unless you want to keep that membership even if your 100% disabled.** I have given multiple letters from my doctor and veterans affairs that my conditioned worsened in July (thats why I no longer attended) and I became 100% disabled, so more than I was when I joined. I also provided information that I am now under the care of a physical therapists. Court South response was that a disability is not in their contract for dismissal of membership. So I will have to wait until I move out of state to get out of membership.

I feel like I'm being glared at by the black lady who works the counter every time I walk in and it deters me from wanting to come here. That's the honest truth. I have a gym membership and I wish I felt like using it, gyms should be awesome and inviting and I don't feel any of that here. The neighborhood's already a big enough barrier to deal with (and this is coming from someone who grew up here)

Love this gym location!Ron is the best and he really makes the gym feel warm and welcoming. It feels like a community and more personal than some of the other bigger national fitness locations. Bigger isn’t always better…Equipment is decent and gets the job done- some of it needs to be replaced and is currently and I appreciate that. Pool is always clean in summer and hardly ever crowded. My kids love the baby pool area and the childcare workers here are the best. My kids ask to go to Mr. Ron’s gym rather than tazewell pike location. I’m happy with our membership and the childcare that’s included, overall great deal and for someone who works out 4-5 times a week being locked into a gym contract doesn’t bother me because I know I’m going to show up. This is a commitment and a lifestyle for me and my family =)

I have been a member for over ten years. This summer I went to Court South with my family to train with my wife while my teenage boys swam in their pool as they had done many times before. After about 30 minutes the manager on duty Kelly told us that my sons could no longer use the pool without memberships. We explained this to our boys and asked them to sit in the lobby while we finished up our workout. Kelly said that my sons could not sit in the lobby and would have to leave the building or she was going to "call somebody". She told us they could not be in the building. I got out my phone and recorded from that point. I asked her why could they not be in the building and what she meant by she was going to "call somebody" if they didn't leave. She then denied saying it. I told Kelly if we were not going to have an honest conversation we were not having one and left with my family. I have not been back to Court South since. The management teams at the other NFC locations do a much better job with their customers.
