I was driving through Tennessee during a thunderstorm and my Toyota rav4 hydroplaned on the freeway. It was the scariest sht ever and I literally almost died. Something was off with my car after that so I drove to the closest toyota which was this one. The service people were very friendly, helpful, and understanding and they did a thorough inspection and fixed the issue (my exhaust pipe was hanging from the engine) for free. I am really grateful for their help. No offense but this town is in the middle of nowhere and there is nothing here so I would've been sick if i was stuck here any longer

Clean bathroom, Cold waiting room (in winter), and surprising cost at the end. It took 10 minutes to check-in for service, the service took about 1 hour 45 minutes for two things (engine oil and transmission oil). The waiting room had coffee and aemi-comfortable chairs, but it was cold and very drafty (bring a thick jacket if you plan to stay a few hours).

I've have always felt that Toyota of Kingsport as a top notch business. I have bought more than on vehicle there and until this week would have looked there first when buying another. How ever, now I will think twice before stepping foot on their lot again. My daughter has a 2016 Camry that she did not purchase from Toyota of Kingsport. When her tire sensor light came on I directed her to Toyota of Kingsport to have it looked at and get me a price estimate for the repair. I went with her to schedule an appointment but to our surprise the serviceman stated he could have one of the guys take a quick look at it now. I had an appointment and could not stay with her. I advise her to call me and let me know what they said and what the cost would be to fix it. Within 15 minutes my daughter texts and states the cost would be $170 plus tax to fix the sensor but they were charging her $85 to simply look at the car!!! I can understand a small fee to check the car, $25-$35 for maybe 20 minutes of "work", but not $85!!!! And at no time, not once, did the serviceman say a word about a fee period!! Had it been communicated prior to looking at the car it would have been our choice. My daughter did not have the $85 with her at the time. Luckily her boyfriend was with her and able to cover the charge. Not only will Toyota of Kingsport NOT be fixing her car, they will no longer receive any business from myself or my family. And just for the record, there is another auto dealership just down the street that I have purchased 6 vehicles from in the last 6 years. I have never had to pay a diagnostic fee. Ever!!

I realize that this dealership has almost a 5 start rating, perhaps when it comes to selling cars they don't play games. It is sad that an organization when they make a mistake doesn't make it right. I took my car in to service for quotes, with a laundry list of items, I asked that service start with the item I felt would be the most expensive, a vibration in the front end at 70 MPH, as I was considering trading in the vehicle if the cost of repairs was to high. The service rep reported back that the tires need to be balanced and the shimmy was gone. Since the potential for the more expensive was not needed I had the other work done - about $3500 worth. One of the items was that the rear seat belts would always lockup one the car was moving. You would have to disconnect the belt in order to get the belt to release in order to adjust it. When I brought the car in the service advisor said that all they can do is replace the seat belt, I asked if that would solve the problem and he said it should. They had the vehicle for a couple weeks, the follow-up calls were terrible, meaning I had to call them, apparently the service rep who took the car in went on vacation and another rep had to take over. So the new rep called me and said the car is ready and nothing but the tire rotation and balance was done. As it turns out the rep had no notes to work from, no mention of the other work needed. So the work gets done, I pick up the car on a Saturday, and the front end is shimming. I called the service advisor and he said if the balance is not fixing the issue the problem is the tires. I can tell you at that point I am thinking this guy doesn't know what he is talking about. I take the care to the tire shop who said that the balance the dealership did was wrong, they said it was counter balanced. They inspected the tire and said they were fine. So while driving around town, my wife is telling me that the seat belts are still locking up. I take the car back to the dealership and leave it with them, they called me and said they, couldn't replicate the shimmy, but also that they are not allow to drive the car over 50 MPH as there is no freeway nearby - yeah there is. I asked for the service manager to call me, which I never got a call, anyway after several phone calls, I met with the senior mechanic who said that it seemed like the problem was in the axles, about $2900 to repair. So here is what I think - the senior mechanic a solid guy, but this dealership ripped me off. They took a car into service knowing that it had a shimmy at 70 MPH, then later said the problem was tire balancing? Then bad tires? No this dealership had a laundry list of well paying easy work and they cherry picked the jobs and ripped me off. Their malpractice robbed me of the opportunity use my money in a way that better served my situation - so much for this being a trusted dealership. Not to mention the seat belts! I talked the service manager about all this...nothing, oh he offered to give me a credit for future service at the dealership for the labor on seat belts. The service manager said the problem with the seat belts must the way they are designed, considering that the two old and the two new did the same thing. Yeah - you think? My response to him the reason take my cars to the dealership is that they are the subject matter experts! Don't you think you should know this? There were many layers of failure here, but in the end the dealership management failed to even try to make this right, a few hundred dollar token credit for a several thousand dollar problem is not making things right.
