A friend of mine recently took her puppy in for a booster shot, there were 7 different vaccines in the booster. One of them made their puppy have a reaction, a high fever was the biggest concern. They were given a medication for pain. When they called the office to ask more questions about the booster and wanted one of the vaccines left out the woman they spoke with was unaware of the high fever as they had no way of knowing the puppy had a fever. My friend researched all of the vaccines and the one they want left out shouldn't be an issue. All the booster shots come into their office already pre mixed. The front desk personnel just didn't seem to want to work with my friend which is a shame because they are looking after the best interest of their puppy. When they asked if they could bring their puppy in the next time there is a fever due to a reaction from a booster they were told they would have to make an appointment which may not be for the same day as the reaction occurs. This place simply does not care about the health and well being of animals.

Been going here with my two dogs, a Field Spaniel and Border Collie mix for six plus years. During this time span have dealt with normal annual visits and more emergency type situations. I have found the office staff, techs and doctors to be outstanding. In particular I want to praise Dr. Campbell. Both my dogs detest going to the vet in general, but they love her. Further, she abides all my questions with great patience and her explanations are always clear. She never pulls the "I'm the doctor and you're not routine" I've experienced with other vets. Simply, she's the best and I could not be happier that my dogs are in her care.

This clinic will do anything for $$ and has an incompetent, dishonest and unprofessional staff - both medical and administrative. They worked with the rescue we fostered and adopted our dog from and instead of refusing him for neutering because he was too young, they changed his age and stated that he was older than he really was. We have since confirmed this with two (respected) second opinions. We begged the rescue not to neuter a barely 3 month old large breed puppy, but they wouldn't allow us to adopt him until they did. We called Jonesborough Animal Hospital who told us they wouldn't go through with the surgery if the age given by the rescue was inaccurate once they saw the dog. After hearing this "policy", we trusted that they would do the right thing once they saw him. They didn't, and we have since learned that this was an outright lie. Since receiving final paperwork we can read the notes which clearly state that they were doing it at the insistence of the person at the rescue org (not a vet) regardless of his age or our concerns. This puppy had never even had an exam or shots prior to this and they did no blood work or IV fluids before, during or after this experience. He was 11 weeks old. This was a profoundly low level of veterinary care. I have never seen anything comparable in 25 years of responsible pet ownership. Our sweet boy may suffer in the years to come thanks to a premature castration, something most professionals strongly recommend against for large breeds. If you care about the future of your animals - PLEASE take them anywhere but here.

We were patients with these folks for over five years, bringing no less than four adult dogs and five puppies to be seen. This clinic is quite expensive compared to our current vet (who is also great), but we were willing to pay for quality care. Over the years we've spent thousands of dollars here. We recently decided to switch vets because there is a serious customer service problem at this office. Most recently, we missed a single appointment (first and only time in five years) due to circumstances beyond our control. We called within one hour of the appointment to explain. The staff were incredibly rude to us. It's not uncommon to be placed on hold when calling, but this time they put us on hold so long we had to hang up and call back. They spoke as if we were serial appointment skippers and, worse, complete strangers. They didn't even ask about the circumstances. Very disappointed to have been treated this way after such a long relationship. These folks need to understand that they work in a service-oriented field, and there are too many choices available to tolerate being treated this way.

My cat broke his front leg and I had been turned away by 4 vets already, including the facility that I've had an account with for over a decade. I kinda get it, understaffed and too many Saturday emergencies. it is what it is. That was totally flipped around when I walked into Jonesborough Animal Hospital. I didn't have an appointment but I was actually shaking, afraid they'd turn me away too. But they didn't. The very kind receptionist went back to ask their vets if they could see my cat with no notice and they said yes. I sat down and cried tears of relief, cause I didn't know where else to go at that point. within 5 minutes of sitting in the waiting room, we were called back. The staff and the vet were so gentle and kind to my cat, commenting on how good of a cat he is the whole time ( to be fair, he's a really great cat). The visit, vaccine updates, pain medicine, and X-rays ended up costing about 1/5 of the price I anticipated all together. We were out of there withing 1.5 hours. I decided while I was there that THIS is our new vet for good. I was never treated as an inconvenience or a problem, even though I didn't have an appointment and we had never been there. I half expected for everyone to be annoyed with our emergency. everyone was so kind. This will be where we go (with an appointment) from now on. I'm 100% satisfied with how my cat and I were treated from the moment we walked through the door and I can't thank the staff enough for being the only place to say "yes" during our emergency.

We called to make an appointment for our two year old dog after he had an attack of pancreatitis and our original vet treated him, sent him home with some meds and told us he's fine. We followed their treatment plan to the letter. A few days later, our dog was writhing around in pain, vomiting, and couldn't eat. When my wife called Jonesborough Animal Hospital looking for someone (anyone) to help us, they told us they'd get our dog's records from the first vet and would call the next day in reference to an appointment. Mind you, my wife was sobbing as she talked to the receptionist about all this. Our daughters were also in tears. Well, the next day came, and we got no call. None. So again in desperation, my wife called them. It wasn't until then that we were told there's nothing more that could be done other than what the original vet did. Hey, thanks so much for telling us that so promptly while our dog was suffering and my wife and kids were crying their eyes out! My wife then asked if we could please just talk to the vet when he or she had time for ONE question. She told them we'd pay them for their time. We didn't even tell the receptionist what we wanted to ask the vet. All we wanted to know, in a generic sense was if a dog in the same condition could possibly pull through this or in these cases dogs could never expect to get better. A few hours later, we got a call back-from the receptionist-telling us that because the vet had never treated our dog before, he or she couldn't talk to us about his case. Really?? The vet didn't even have the courtesy to call us directly to tell us that. And again-we were desperate for some general information to help us discern what to do. Just to review: They tell us we won't get an appointment because there's nothing else they can do, and then refuse to even talk to us generically because they haven't treated our dog before.....??? Huh??? How cold and uncaring can they possibly be? Where is their compassion and empathy?? Where?? I will say we had to bring our older dog to them two years ago to be put down and they were good to us. In fact, I wanted to use them as our primary clinic for this dog I'm writing about, but my wife couldn't bring herself to go back where we had to put our previous dog down. He was 12 years old and was the love of our lives in our family, so it was incredibly hard to go back there. We were willing to with this situation because we were desperate. This last interaction with them showed a stunning lack of professionalism and yeah, I'll say it again-a lack of compassion. I don't know if they've had some kind of turnover there or what since we dealt with them two years ago, but I could never in good conscience recommend them. Horrible, horrible experience.
