Never, ever try and adopt one of their "featured" pets. Over the past few years I've tried to adopt three of these pets. From what I can gather it's either a popularity contest or a bidding war. I would give it a one star, but the staff is really friendly and the facility is actually quite nice. I would understand getting shut down if I was a felon or didn't have an acre of land fenced in with children.

very disappointed with my experience. I would say this place is not family friendly. The older red headed lady at the front desk needs a lesson or two on good customer service.

They were very kind And explained everything to me and when I had a concern with my dog after her spay surgery I called them and they told me to bring her in so they can check her over. They vet was so caring and kind and took the time to explain everything to me and make sure I understand what she was telling me. I appreciated that.

An abandoned kitty found our porch when it was 25 degrees outside. Luckily the friendly staff at the shelter found room. It's a blessing, Kitty will have a good home soon.

I went there in hopes coming home with the dog we bonded with and was denied bc my older dog is to old for the new dog. They didn’t consider the fact the dog bonded with us and he was so comfortable with us or the fact he was coming home to a great home and farm land to play on. Instead the rejected us and left the dog to be held there. I’m highly disappointed and heart broken for him and my daughter. We prepared our home before leaving today and even got him a nice bed and collar.

Let me tell you this place is very clean. The only thing that would make it better for me is the kittens need a big room to be able to run and play. Awesome place. My sister adopted a kitten a week later

We adopted two dogs and the staff were great at first, sent a txt that week to see how things were going. After a few months I texted them again with some concerns but received no response. I called a couple months later as the concerns came up again. I was told the executive director or trainer on staff would get back to me. Nobody did. I called again after a couple weeks went by and was told that I didn't fall through the cracks - there's just been some turnover with their staff. The woman ons the phone told me that she has just seen the trainer and would get her for me... Then came back on the line a minute later and said the trainer wasn't in that day (??) and would be out the entire next week, but would call me back when she came back to work. It's been several weeks again, and still nobody has called me back.I get that they're busy, but they aren't doing the animals any favors when they blow off adopting families.

As a former employee who has reported crimes to the city board and news reporters I can tell you this animal shelter is not the flowers and rainbows that the director paints it to be. I have watched sick elderly animals go 6 months without vet care then be put down once they finally receive it and I could write an entire book on the other countless crimes I have witnessed. The animal control office, the city board, and especially the director clearly do not care about animals. When dogs don't want to eat they aren't worried about it, when foster kittens are dying they are out drunk and partying, when a pitbull gets attacked by a husky who has a history of killing animals the pitbull gets put down for aggression. How is this good management? This place needs to clean house. So far they have lost at least 14 employees I know of that used to care for animals but were threatened to be sued for speaking. Dozens of volunteers who tried to aid in making a change have been asked to leave and never come back. It's all about power and money to the people in charge and it should never EVER be that way. It should ALWAYS be for the best interest of the animals and with these 'leaders' it never has been and never will be until they're gone.

Great place to adopt a cat or dog. The staff are very knowledgeable and courteous. Especially the Animal Control office.
