I went to see Mr. Milex for an estimate on changing my 4l60e transmissions valve plate. I described the symptom of a hard 1-2 upshift after a prolonged high speed drive. The remedy was to shut the vehicle off and restart the vehicle. Common issue for this transmission along with a P1870 code. Slippage. The transmission functioned normally otherwise. No slippage, noises, hard shifts or flares noted. Just what I stated above. Mr. Milex said I needed to have a technician perform a diagnostic test which I agreed to for 66 dollars and some odd change. That was fine except there's no way to replicate the problem without a high speed highway drive, which wasn't performed. The technician reported back that the fluid had a slightly burned smell that I already new as the mileage was 138k. Also some noises. I remarked that the vehicle had a worn rear wheel bearing and one brake shoe had a sharp click when letting off the brake. Mr. Milex also told me that the scan tool showed a deviating pump pressure inside the transmission. I didn't have the heart to tell them that the scan tool cannot read pump pressure because that transmission does not have a pressure transducer to report pump pressure to the TCM. You need to physically attach a pressure gauge for that. So after all that, I asked if they would change the valve plate and they said no. Because they couldn't warrantee it. I told them I didn't expect a warranty. They wanted me to replace the transmission. Anyway to make a long story short I replaced the valve plate, flushed and filled the transmission and the issue is resolved: 250.00 for the plate. 160.00 for the flush and fill and 25.00 for a filter and pan gasket. Next time tell the customer what you won't do and save them the diagnostic fee and story. I know it is a high mileage transmission and that it may self destruct in the near future anyway.
Also for some reason after I made the appointment they really didn't want me waiting in the waiting room. I'm alone here so I didn't have a ride. I could have went to Wally world across the street. Just sayin. Shame on you Mr. Milex for wasting my time and money.

They have replaced my transmission once before, then it was acting up 4 years later. Was terrified it was another bad transmission issue. Nope. They diagnosed it as an engine issue. Very honest and fair group of people! Highly recommend them as they do more than just transmission work and can figure out what's wrong.

Car was a 91 Geo. Parts were non-existent. Scott and the crew got it rebuilt and it’s better than new. It’s a family heirloom so it was important to get it done right and this shop exceeded expectations. Will always come back. Thanks Scott!!

I took my truck in for a transmission fluid and filter change. I had some shifting issues and it was way overdue for a service. After driving my truck, they determined that a fluid change could do more harm than good and advised against it. I still had the option however. So essentially, they were telling me to keep my $300 because it won’t fix it. Most places would have gladly taken the money and offered further service when it didn’t fix it. They didn’t even charge a diagnostic service fee. When it’s time for a rebuild, they will definitely be the place to do it.
