We’ve had a great experience at Sea Star! Our son started swim lessons there when he was 6 months old, and my wife and I are grateful to have this kind of program available. We love the variety of classes they provide and the opportunity for our son swim year-round. It’s been amazing to see him learn proper techniques and gain confidence in the water. He is now 6 years old and I regularly recommend Sea Star Swim School to others.

I have been swimming at Sea Star 3 days a week for almost 3 years and I LOVE IT!!! I swim with the MTSC Masters team and I can’t speak highly enough about the pool and facility there at Sea Star. The water is always the perfect temperature and the pool is very well maintained. There is a large viewing area for parents and family to watch swim lessons, too. Joining MTSC and working out with the coaches at Sea Star is one of the best decisions I’ve made.

Sea star swim school is located along the shore of old Hickory Lake, the building has quite eclectic architecture with a walkout ranch hidden at its core. The fireplace of the original house can be seen in the swim shop. Long ago the brick floor of the lobby was once a patio. There is a good view of the pool for guests and visitors through several windows in the lobby. The pool has six 25 yard lanes and stairs in the middle of the pool for those who prefer a more gentle entry into the water. The school teaches from babies to centenarians. The school is family run by life long swimmers and has a friendly staff. It’s a wonderful place to learn to swim or improve your technique.

The folks here at Sea Star are and have been a huge part of my family for going on 9 years. Both of my children took lessons here from the baby class to the swim team classes years later. The Chalasta’s are great it is a true family owned and family run business. They all touch the business in some way. Mrs. Jean and Mrs. Beverly are family to my family as well. Everyone there has helped make my kids better people in and out of the pool for years. I myself love being part of the family as well. Great people, true family business, and great community at Sea Star. I highly recommend.

MTSC is a welcoming and supportive master's swim club with a range of abilities to suit everyone, from beginners to seasoned veterans. Coach Ron does a great job of catering to different swim levels in a fun, relaxed atmosphere while also pushing everyone towards their personal fitness goals. My six year old also recently had his first beginner swim class with Coach Scott and had a blast. Ms. Jean in the pro shop was very kind and helpful with fitting him out and helping him adjust some new goggles, and the other coaches pool-side made him feel very welcome. He can't wait for his next class!

Swimming at MTSC began as a way just to increase my fitness level. The atmosphere and coached environment just offered so much more than I could have ever imagined. When I started my goal was simple… just get comfortable and swim a lap. Now with the coaching support, it has become a passion and now I can compete in long distance open water swims in hostile lakes and ocean swims. The best part of swimming at the Masters program with Coach Ron is you will get a great workout but you will also develop lifelong friendships!

I have been swimming at Seastar for 10+ years, and what I love about the classes is that Ron and Scott (our awesome coaches) keep things fun and dynamic, all the while pushing us to our limits. They cater to each individual swimmer’s skill level, but also make it fun across all lanes of the pool. Whether you’re a beginner or a former Olympian, there’s a spot for you at Seastar. I love it!!

Teacher was great but for the morning mommy and me class they claim thee pool is 86 degrees not true at all it is so cold the kids cry and shiverTeacher says just move and it'll get warmer it doesn't it's ridiculous leave the heater on if you're going to have early morning classes

We used Sea Star when my child was very young, around 18 months. She has always had an intense fear of going under water and in the beginning of the course I felt no pressure to force her, but nearing the end we didn't feel as comfortable in the class so we stopped going. She's 4 now so we tried again this summer in hopes she would be encouraged by her fellow students to try going under water. Parents are not allowed near the kids during the lessons so we are unable to monitor how our kids are being spoken too, and with a sensitive child with an intense fear of the water, I didn't love that. They didn't ask us about our kids or spend any time with the parents. The teacher was late to the first class and we were asked to leave so they knew little to nothing about my child. She was assured by a female instructor that she wouldn't have to go underwater. However, when lessons started she was heavily "encouraged" to go under and felt forced to do so. By the 3rd or 4th time she was VERY upset and crying for the rest of the class. At one point she tried to get away from the teacher and from where I could see her it looked like she was pulled back into the water against her will, screaming. She was able to be convinced to go under, but was extremely upset and took 10-15 minutes to calm down after class. We immediately discontinued lessons, and a few weeks later, encouraged by seeing her friends going under, she took the plunge herself without being forced. That was my hope for the class, but based on our experience we won't be going back.

My siblings and I all attended Sea Star when we were toddlers. We learned how to float and get to a wall to get out safely if we fell in. My sister swam for a school team and practiced here. Wonderful people!

Ron and Scott are awesome! I swim in the masters adult program and my kids swim in the junior program. Their curriculum is top notch and have transformed my health and given our family a sport to love for years to come.

Awesome teachers and coaches, but the parent waiting area could use a little A/C. Bring a towel for your kids for after their class, and a sweat towel for yourself!

We've had a great experience with the teachers at Sea Star! Our girls love swimming here- and don't worry if you call and have to leave a message- they ALWAYS return their calls, but they are in high demand!
