Hales Bar Marina is an awesome place to get away. There are a lot of rental boats to choose from. We had fun swimming, fishing, and a great dinner with friends. Jasper is the closest area for grocery shopping. Close to Chattanooga (Sir Goonies family fun center was a good time playing putt putt)

We rented a boat from Hales Bar Marina. We had so much fun. I highly recommend them if you’re in the area and looking for a good time. At the end of the day we spent time at the damn bar, drinking moonshine and whiskey. I definitely give them a 10 out of 10.

If you are a construction worker looking for a place to full time a dumpy camper then look no farther! If you are looking for anything like a vacation keep going. Marina is a disaster, boat ramp is more than a mile from anything and is very sketchy with stripped and derilict boats laying around the grass and lot. The ramp itself is a mess of broken concrete yet still usable. The "lakeside" campsites which we booked at a premium were completely covered in vegetation making it impossible to do anything water related. We packed up and left to shelmont campground 4.5 miles away which has been lovely.

For the last 5 years, my family has vacationed on Nickajack. Every year we rent a pontoon from Hales, always friendly service and clean boats. They continue to improve their fleet. Fantastic time and we love The Big White Bear!

We just got back from here and I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE. It’s was outdated, our bed sheets had STAINS ALL ON THEM, floating cabins was dirty, no water pressure, water did NOT stay hot long enough to take a shower, spider webs and dead bugs every where. We left the cabin CLEANER than we FOUND IT. The pier is sketchy concrete sections missing, was very OVER PRICED, our toilet QUIT FLUSHING SEWER SMELL WAS TERRIBLE, NO WIFI or TV. To top it OFF they have signs in cabins NO REFUND FOR ANY REASON. They also have something about taking items that your card will be charged meantime the towels in the bathroom had Hilton Resort on label so they apparently took it from a hotel. NEVER NEVER would we go back. Views were amazing and enjoyed the DAM HAUNTED TOUR. BEST THING ABOUT THIS PLACE WAS LEAVING Sunday Morning.

We stayed in floating cabin #15 July 4th weekend. The service and staff were very nice and friendly and catered to our every need. Scenery was so beautiful. It was very hot in the bedroom the first night and they brought us an extra fan. The next day we went out to do some things in Chattanooga and when we got back they had put in another condition and the cabin was very comfortable. The only problem we had was we had no WiFi and couldn’t watch tv the whole time we were there. I feel like we should have been reimbursed or compensated for no WiFi, or tv service. Also hard to fish with all the green grassy stuff floating in the water. The phone signal there is very bad also. Overall it was fun and I liked it and will go back. The fishing off the deck was really great when the grassy plants floated away.

We stopped here to get gas for our jetski. Service was fast, and these folks are very nice. Will stop again.

Wanted to love it, but I just couldn't. The staff were friendly upon check-in. I emailed a question several weeks prior to arrival re: late check-in that was never returned. I called before heading out and was told check-in was at 3 (as noted on website) and the office closes at 4:30. So essentially, arrive between 3 and 4, right? No. We arrived at 4 and saw instructions for late / after-hours check-in on the window. So, yes, arriving late is just fine. You have to let them know. No big deal, just a facepalm moment. We ended up not staying. See note below about our room. Floating cabin #14.
Rooms: Like a summer camp cabin. The rustic is ok, but spider webs, dead bugs, broken sink, LOW water pressure, broken bath fan, and a window AC unit that couldn't keep the cabin below 80 degrees are not. We didn't even stay the first night because we knew we'd be up all night sweating.
Safety: Parts of the floating concrete pier were sketchy. I saw more than one shore power post in disrepair, creating a shock / fire hazard.

*Updated Review*
Went back 4 yrs ago and haven't been back. They've since been bought out and charge more and have terrible service. It lost its charm. We use to love this place.
Posted 7yrs ago....
Ummm so don't wanna give good reviews so you won't know about this gem..ummmm AWESOME!! single momma took her boys on a fishing adventure..... BEST...TIME.... EVER. My boys keep asking me every weekend to go back... Pack like you're camping and throw your phone in the glove compartment cause media reception doesn't happen... In a good way! We're going back in March! #wentcatchingnotfishing

I wish I could give this place zero stars. I implore anyone not to use this business. They are rude, incompetent, shaddy and unethical. I would write my entire terrible experience on here but it would take pages.
Bottom line, my family of 7 (1 child) rented a pontoon from Hales on June 19, 2024 and most of our experience was a nightmare.
Due to a gas leak we ran out of gas about 20 minutes from the mariana and we were stuck in the water for over 5 hours (9 hours on the boat total.)
Hales' employees were unprepared for an emergency and treated my entire group like trash. They literally did not care that we were stuck and blamed the situation on us.
After the terrible day I expected at least a refund of my $665 but they denied any responsibility. They claim the boat was fine but explain to me why we had to be towed in if the boat was in perfect condition? The boat was trash and had many safety issues. Their "rescue team" was out fishing that day if that tells you anything.
Please go anywhere but here. Hales truly doesn't care about their customers and should be shut down immediately!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I recently visited Hales Bar Marina for the day, and it was an incredible experience! The historical significance of the dam is fascinating, and the views along the Tennessee River are simply breathtaking. The haunted house inside the old building is a must-see – it adds an eerie yet exciting twist to the visit. The haunted house inside the old building is a must-see – especially during Halloween when it’s extra spooky and thrilling.
The distillery tour was another highlight of my visit. The cool, delicious drinks were a perfect complement to the warm, sunny day, and the staff were knowledgeable and friendly, making the experience thoroughly enjoyable. The marina itself is well-maintained and offers a variety of activities, making it a perfect spot for a day trip.
Although I didn’t stay overnight, the floating cabins looked amazing, and I can’t wait to plan a longer visit to fully enjoy all that Hales Bar Marina has to offer. Highly recommend for anyone looking to explore a unique and historical destination!

We were there for one night. I could not / would not have stayed any longer. ( RV Park)
Overpriced & overcharged. They ran the CC twice. We are still working on that almost 2 weeks later.
Basically a dump. Terrible experience.
Our RV was backed up to a snaky looking overgrown area.

Do NOT give your credit card or payment information to the boat rental folks at this place. Not only was the pontoon boat rental very overpriced, we were hit with several hundred dollars of surprise fees at the end of the day. Also, the boats are dangerously dysfunctional with loose/missing bolts, loose slides, damaged pontoons (one appeared to be sinking throughout the day), and none of the dashboard gauges work so you never know if you're going to run out of gas. The poor quality of the boats could be tolerable, but the staff were either incompetent or outright rude depending on who you were talking to. The marina itself is fine- I never saw the rooms, and the location is close to the interstate so convenience is not an issue, but that's not what this review is about- do NOT rent pontoons from these people. Better off going somewhere else to rent, or even just buying your own boat would be a better option than this business. I really wish I could just single out the boat rental operation and give them less than one star.
