This past week, my Aunt took her dog in for a nail trim. The lady takes him back, after muzzling him in the waiting room. My aunt wanted to go back, but the lady says "be right back" and goes on. For context, once he is muzzled, he stands still. My aunt hears him back there, howling and "screaming". A different person brings him back out, the receptionist. That's when my aunt sees how badly he is bleeding. On her. Her purse. Drops hitting the floor. Drops the size of quarters. No styptic powder put on the nail. My aunt asks to see the woman who cut his nails, and that request was met with "she can't. She is with another dog". My aunt, her dog, and one more person was in there. The lady tells my aunt to sit down with him, to stop the bleeding. Her reasoning was he was upset, causing him to bleed more due to fast heart rate. She tells my aunt there is no charge and that she could leave., as he was still bleeding and the lady was using paper towels to get it off the floor. Not the dog, the floor. I would think the dog would be more concerning than the floor. As of seeing him yesterday, he is licking at it. Won't put weight on his back leg. I was unable to see any part of his nail.Would NOT recommend, as I , too had a terrible experience there, same procedure, although my dog didn't like like a bloodbath when he left.

This vet has never put her hands on my 3 dogs in the year an a half that I’ve been going there. The staff is amazing but the vet not so much. I have an American bully that is covered in rashes, and she says he has allergies will not do test to see what kind of allergies. All she wants to do is fill him full of antibiotic and shampoos. I am over this Vet.

Let me start by saying that I have 20 years experience dealing with this vet. I have been taking dogs here since they were up on the hill at the old place. I now have zero faith in Duckworth Animal Clinic. There are so many positive reviews and comments and I urge you, if you are new to the area or you are looking to switch vets, to understand that Duckworth is great for vaccinations, spay/neuter, flea and tick prevention, regular general checkups, etc. But if you have an emergency with your animal at any point in its lifetime, you may be very surprised at the service you get! While we have several dogs and have been coming here for years, we have had two emergencies in the last few years and both times Duckworth has let us down in a major way. I posted a review some time back about what happened with our Yorkie. After thinking about it I thought "this has to be a one-time thing because they've always been great".. so I took the review down and gave them a second chance. We kept going for vaccinations, etc and unfortunately this past week had another emergency with a different dog. They dropped the ball again and I'm now convinced that unless it's a common regular everyday thing that you need done, this is absolutely not the place to go! Our first issue was a few years ago when our small dog got something lodged in his throat. No one at any veterinarian would answer the emergency lines that night and it was a Sunday night. Since he was still able to breathe and swallow water but not food, we decided to wait up with him all night and make sure he was okay then take him into Duckworth first thing the next morning. They turned him away! They told me they were not going to be able to see him until Wednesday night or Thursday morning. I kept telling the girl up front that he has something stuck in his throat you don't understand, he's not breathing right.. but she said that they were understaffed and simply could not take him. This dog has been a regular 'patient' all of his life. I took him to another vet who took him instantly, took wonderful care of him and sent him home the same day. That is when I posted my review on Duckworth, felt a little guilty because I don't ever want to hurt someone's business, took it down and went on with my life. This past week one of our large dogs started vomiting, had obvious infection coming out of his face, eyes, nose, he was losing weight very rapidly, shaking all over.. so we took him to this clinic. They actually did see him even though he was never there before. We only had him about 2 months and he was up to date on everything so he had no reason to go to the vet up until this point. When they seen him, they checked him for flea, tick, heartworms and came back in and said his results on all that was clear. They were too understaffed to do any kind of lab work or x-rays and sent him home. This dog shook and vomited and suffered all weekend and Monday morning we took him to a different veterinarian who also had never seen him before, took him in instantly and ran labs and did x-rays. They then called and told us that he had tumors all over his liver and that they were starting to rupture. There was nothing that we could have done different to save him, nothing we did to cause his sudden decline or his suffering. But I am so heartbroken because they said so much of his blood was in his stomach and inside his body from the rupture that they were not able to draw blood from him for labs. Duckworth seen this dog 3 days before and could have saved him 3 days of suffering! They also could have saved us the $300 they charged us to do nothing but tell us to take our dog home and to let him slowly die in our home..

I called on Saturday for a nail clipping and rabies vaccine and they penciled me in before noon. The two techs handled my dogs very well and clipped their talons better than the groomer.

We took our cat into Duckworth this morning, as a walk-in due to some observed changes in her litter box use. The staff was extremely polite and friendly, got us in to see Dr. Duckworth within about 30min of us arriving. He was able to explain the condition clearly, and spent a lot of time making sure we understood what he believed to be the issue, then sent us out with a mild oral antibiotic to clear up the problem. Very kind, friendly crew all around. And the price was what I would consider *extremely* reasonable. We will be returning to Duckworth for our other animals' medical needs for sure.
