House of Hoyt has a history of breeding sick dogs. My first and Hoytt doberman died at 4 years of age from heart disease. The day I went to pick up my doberman puppy, Barry Hoytt backhanded my new puppy off a dog bed for relieving herself on it. When she passed, he offer his condolences in a sentence or two, but then followed with two pages of propaganda regarding the health of his dogs. Numerous other dogs has passed with a life span of less than 5 years old. They offer an AKC Good Citizen for their dogs, but when you get the dog and certificate, it is not from the AKC nor is it registered with them.\nHoytt proclaims he has been linebreeding the same blood line for over 50 years!! Do some research, this is the worst possible scenario for breeding healthy dogs, the genetic defects continue from generation to generation only compounding the defect.\nTheir latest endeavor is selling vitamins with a claim of preventing nutritional DCM through the use of his vitamins. Supposedly independently tested for 6 years. No proof of this exists. Hoytt's vitamin developer \

I have owned a Hoytt doberman. He was an exquisite animal. He was all that Barrie said he would be and more. Also, I have visited HOH in Dandridge. It's a wonderful setting to raise and train the Dobes. I plan to reserve two pups in near future. K. McLaughlin

We bought our Dobie 5 years ago. Absolutely love this kid. Well trained. Only issue is Mr. Hoytt advertises that he tests all if his animals for DCM and tries to breed them clear of this disease and states that he has. Well, that is not true. Our 5 year old and some of the same litter have this disease. It's awful to watch your family member suffer.

The House of Hoytt/United Service Dogs of America is a puppy mill promoting false advertising, as well as abuse by Barrie. He does not genetically clear "any" breeding animals. Most of his animals have heart disease and who knows what other medical problems, contrary to Barrie's hallucinations. Over the weekend I met a person who told me what happened when they picked up a "Hoytt Dobe", it goes like this; Upon arrival to pick up their Service Dog, the two of them observed Barrie Hoytt backhand their 7 month old puppy off of a bed because the puppy peed on it; I think that is called abuse. Their Service Dog from Hoytt passed away at 4 years old due to heart failure in March of 2022. Upon notifying Barrie, he had all of one sentence to express his sympathy for the loss of their dog, and another page of propaganda to express his delusions of "curing" heart disease. If he can cure heart disease in animals, he should also look into doing the same for humans! Hoytt's website is full of false advertising indicating medically healthy dogs, research with universities, and his ongoing commitment to place dogs that can no longer be kept by the original owner. You are welcome to return your dog, but there will be no refund and he will resell your dog to another unsuspecting individual. Two hour interview prior to "getting his approval" to purchase one of his dogs, is just another opportunity for Barrie to babble on about his pipe dreams of his dogs breeding the perfect Doberman. There is a plethora of complaints on line encompassing many years of puppy mill breeding by Hoytt. Take some time to fully research House of Hoytt/ United Service Dogs of America. There are other breeders within the Tennessee area to look into, as well as many other states with reputable breeders. Do yourself a favor, don't purchase an unhealthy dog from Hoytt, and find a healthy dog elsewhere. If anyone is interested in filing a class action law against Barry Hoytt, House of Hoytt and United Service Dogs of America, please do not hesitate to contact me at

Be aware that these prices and all of the smoke n mirror dance with 'medical this, medical that' ....is absolutely ridiculous.Google other breeders, go on Doberman fourms, talk to you local Vet... then you will see this person or persons are just taking advantage of people....like one poster said 'looong winded nonsense'.A true discredit to a fantastic breed.
