I was made aware by the third party provider that Providence used for my move that they are just the contractor, they get a percentage of the amount contracted & moves are then subtracted out. I got this information from the third party provider when they stated they would not honor my signed contract when they continually tried getting additional monies from me. In the words of my daughter they held my goods for ransom.Providence was of no help getting this resolved satisfactorily.I did my homework in choosing Providence last year, they were well rated. For what I ended up paying I could have purchased all new goods.

When I inquired about my cross-country move, I was told that my estimate was binding. When the mover they contracted out to pick up my stuff, they doubled the estimate that was given, basically holding my original deposit hostage. Every step of the way, the unscrupulous mover they contracted out nickel and dimed me, and also tried to upcharge me on everything from what counts as a set of steps (original contract said 10 steps, their contract said 7 steps). Providence van lines has not returned my calls since I gave them their money. DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM. I will be making a complaint with the FMCSA.

Providence van lines crew are great. They are accommodating to changing schedules, fast, and careful with belongings. The truck was packed very tight and safe for only a 6 mile drive. Everything went very smooth and was completed for a great value on time!

I was very happy with them. He and his crew are wonderful! They were professional and efficient, but I was most impressed by the owner, that he was very hands on and worked right along with his crew. He went above and beyond for me, even helped my find a temporary storage. Crew was very kind and personable. Easy to work with, and a pleasure to work with people who are genuine.

Providence is literally the worst moving company. Do not believe their quote for a second. They will way undershoot the bid then try and charge you a premium for the overage. The contract would lead you to believe the quoted amount is the max for that cu ft, it absolutely isn’t. That is the minimum … then the fees and extras start. They say at every step “you only pay for what you use”. Flat Lie! I had 800 cu ft less than they estimated and they tried to charge me the full rate anyway. Lies Lies Lies. The insurance they tell you your supposed to have changes drastically the day of as well. Sorry company, sorry customer service. I’m sorry I ever signed a contract with them. Do yourself a favor and avoid at all cost.

DO NOT USE!Took 30 whole days to get our stuff. We’re consistently told “oh it’s coming, it’ll be there in a couple of days”. We were living on air mattresses for 30 days as they had all our belongings. We were told it would be 2-4 DAYS originally. Not 4 weeks. Our contract said 2-14 days for our distanced move, and it took double that and they didn’t compensate us for it.After being consistently lied to, our sales rep, Andrew, just stopped responded or calling us back. He also told me they were not a broker and the people who picked up our stuff would be the same ones who dropped it off…yeah that’s was bold faced lie. Also, they get you to sign with them by telling you “oh it sounds like you have X amount of stuff, which generally takes up X amount of cubic feet. So you will only be charged X amount and even less if you don’t take up that much space.” ….yeah they way under shoot that cubic foot number (they charge by cubic foot). Then when they come get your stuff, they tell you “oh well you have a lot more stuff so we have to charge you a ton of extra money for the space”.

I highly do NOT RECOMMEND!!!I was made to believe that my furniture would be picked up on the 1st and dropped off in another State by the 12th. Here it is the 24th and I still do not have my furniture. Very unprofessional when I started calling them daily after the 14th. They started to not answer my phone calls it SEEMS. When they did answer, they transferred me to my sales rep. Who sent me to voicemail and rarely returned my calls. They stated my furniture would be delivered between the 18th-21st. They never delivered my items. When the 21st went by without my furniture being delivered. (Contract stated they had 21 days to delivery my furniture.) I was then explained they have 21 BUSINESS DAYS to deliver my furniture from the first available day. That day was FROM THE 9th.(You have to read the small print. My mistake) As of today it is July 24th and I still do NOT have my furniture. Lastly, they gave me an estimate quote for a little over $10k for the move from Michigan to Texas. It turned out to be $2k more. They need a better estimator. (To their defense: They do use a third-party estimator. The actual movers were very professional and did a Great Job loading up my furniture.) However, I would NEVER use Providence Van Lines again. Nor would I ever recommend anyone to use them.

The movers were excellent. They were very careful and took precautions as needed to make sure everything was safely moved without any type of damage to either our personal property or either one of the units we moved out of and in to. We would definitely use them again on our next move.

On time, great communication, and the best movers I have ever used. They were careful with how they moved my stuff, packed it tightly, and paid attention to details. They packed it so well I didn’t need an additional pod. I wish I could take them to where I am moving to unpack. And the cost was very reasonable.

Providence van lines handled our move two months ago. It was so good to see how brave and energetic these men were. A 2nd floor walkup was no big deal to them. They disassembled our beds and carried everything else to the van waiting outside. In just fraction of time, they were off. They delivered everything just on time. All our belongings made it to our new home safely and we had to nothing during this move. I can’t even imagine this move going any smoother than this.

THEY LIE!!!!!! Worst move ever! My original quote was around 9K and a two days before the movers arrived they checked in on the inventory and raised the quote to 22K!!! Literally two days before when I have no choice. Furthermore they promised me over and over complete packers and unpackers (they would unwrap all the dishes and put them away) and when they arrived they said they can't unpack anything! We paid them to unpack and now they aren't unpacking! I feel lied to and cheated. They told me they would put the beds and cribs together and now won't do the cribs.

If it was possible for me to give negative stars, I would. I have moved several times in my adult life and in all the different ways. I know what to expect when moving, whether on my own, or if paying someone else to do it for me. I know there are delays, and that sometimes there may be even a little damage. Providence and the other company they contracted my move with (CR7 - who will get this same review) were the worst I have ever witnessed. I've added a few pics here to show you what I received. Aside from being misquoted 3 separate times, and ended up paying over 12K for a move from VA to NV for 900 square feet of items, they also did not wrap my items, or pack them in a secure way. The pictures provided are literally what I saw upon opening the boxes. They wrapped my furniture in 1 layer of a trash bag... a literal trash bag. They wrapped my two of my computer monitors screen to screen in a moving blanket... no box, no wrapping, no padding. All of my cords to my TV and monitors are MIA, and they all have damage on the casings and the screens. I emailed the companies a day after my items were delivered and I have still not received a response. It has been 9 days. BEWARE!

If there was a rating for less than 1 star, they'd definitely get it! Not only were we charged (13k+) double what we were quoted (7k) but had several items damaged (mostly dishes and holiday decorations), with the biggest ticketed and concerning item being our living room tv. *Frame bent and a long crack from one side to the other side of tv.* A virtual walk through was also conducted to ensure no surprise charges and was also told that the price is locked in as quoted once walk through is completed. Well, that didn't happen and despite all of that, we just wanted to get moved and be done with that part of our moving process. The rep, Andrew Whiffen, was initially helpful prior to receiving my money but once the delivery of the damaged goods were completed, I could no longer contact him and only got his voicemail. This guy literally texted, emailed and called me almost daily to get my business.Items were delivered 6/18 but didn't start unpacking or transitioned into our new home, for that matter, until Tuesday 6/21. On Wednesday 6/22, I spoke with Charles (no last name given) who said that he would submit a call to claims who would send me a link to file my claim. He apologized for Andrew's absence and explained that he had been on vacation for a few days. He even reassured me that my items were insured and to not worry. Fast forward to a week later 6/30 and still have yet to receive anything. And I assume that Andrew is still on vacation as his line is still going to voicemail.I initially called and Charles answered and acknowledged our conversation from last week and asked me to hold and that he was forwarding me to Claims. Unfortunately, I received a voicemail and not quite satisfied with that, I called the main corporate number back and, this time, spoke with Diane who actually texted me a link to submit my claim (you would think that this step would have been an option on 6/22 when I spoke with Charles or even when I spoke with prior to Diane). After completing the registration, the claims file prompted me for a Bill of Lading that I didn't have accessible and called the corporate number again to request a copy of the Bill of Lading. The person who answered this time, immediately said..."Someone is already working on that for you." At this point, I'm extremely confused as I had not spoken with anyone regarding a Bill of Lading. After explaining this and expressing my acknowledgement of the representative just trying to appease me, he said that he misread the note and that he'd have to call the movers to get a copy and email it. *This entire company is a joke* I have still yet to hear back from the company and when I called again to follow up, the representative who didn't provide a name and answered with a simple and unprofessional 'hello', responded and said "ok, I'll send you to customer service". Which frustratingly enough was another voicemail. I'm in disbelief of the service and treatment and hope that others read this review prior to using this service.PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY AND RUN FAR AWAY! My family has moved long distance many times prior to our last one from Tennessee (MN, MO, TX, FL) and this by far was the absolute WORST COMPANY EVER to conduct business! It is extremely unfortunate and I don't believe that I'll be compensated for my television. NEVER AGAIN and LESSON LEARNED!!! POOR quality, POOR customer service, POOR responsiveness and extremely UNPROFESSIONAL.

In my opinion they are extremely unorganized. We had our stuff in a storage unit which we provided the dimensions and pictures with the contents. The estimate they gave was off by roughly $4k. I called multiple times to ensure the estimate was accurate only to have them call roughy two weeks before the move to tell me it needs to be increased. Less than a week before the move they tell me the truck can’t get into the storage facility so they will need to double handled at our cost. We had signed the contract months prior but they never took the time to vet the facility. We didn’t know the moving time until around 9PM the night before the move and I had to follow to get the time. I recently got a text from Alex our moving coordinator asking why I stopped payment on a check. I checked my account and I was like it came out 10 days ago. He apologized for the oversight but once again an example of being unorganized. I can’t recommend this company.

Everything that could go wrong with using this company, did. I highly discourage you from booking with them. For a company that is supposed to be a coordinating service, they did a horrendous job at ensuring professionalism and consistency. For one, the company has ropes people in with one cost for cubic feet that they assigned based upon the given furniture. Once they movers arrive, one day late, they load all furniture in the truck and inform the customer that they utilized double the space although no new items were loaded. Providence refused to answer the call or emails when questioned about the new added costs but then informs us over the phone that we would not have to pay for the added costs. The contracted moving company, PT Van Lines were also horrible. Their contract drivers were not helpful and lied stating that they arrived on one day and we refused payment when we have documentation they never did. Once the company did arrive, they showed up with on guy in a semi-trailer with no ramp and no help. When asked if they could get someone to help, they stated it would be the next day and we would have to pay the storage fee and the new delivery fee of $700.00. After unloading the truck with four women only, we contracted the company. The driver LIED and said he offered to send help but we opted to make $200.00! This is not factual. We paid for a service of delivery and replacement of our items and didn’t get either. Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. Providence closed our case without justification and refuses to work with us.
