Dr. Derryberry and his nurse Priscila make an outstanding team. They are dedicated to providing the highest level of care to their patients. I highly recommend them. Five stars all the way.

Don’t ever use if you’re wanting a reliable on call nurse for your child. Anytime my kid has been sick I have not been able to get through. Unacceptable.

Galen Medical (in general) is nothing but a money making scheme..! They are not there to actually help anyone- all they want is your money. A good friend of mine (who's I'll keep name private) went to Galen for several digestive issues. After countless procedures, there was still no real diagnosis even after repeating the same procedure twice in two years. This friend has paid Galen thousands of dollars & still getting billed. When he called to set up payments on the final bill, they said he'd have 30 days to make his account right. Within the allotted 30 day period, he got a letter saying that his account had gone to collections. Along with this letter was a paragraph stating that he would never be able to be seen by Galen again.

Devastated and heart broken at what happened to my daughter and I. I have been a patient at Galen for 17 years. I have UC and my favorite doctor is Dr. Schmitt at the Gastroenterology Office. She is kind and always listens. She has seen me at my worst health and has saved me many times. She recommended me to Dr. Derryberry’s office for my family doctor. I have been there a few years. I really liked Dr. Derryberry so I started bringing my daughter there. She has Autism, OCD and ADD. She also has MTHFR deficiency. We had forgotten to schedule her 3 month visit for her refill on her Aderall (for her ADD). Dr Derryberry was booked out two weeks, so my daughter had to wait on her meds until her appointment. So 2 weeks later they call me that morning to cancel and I asked if there was any way that she could see someone else so that we could get her meds. Her finals were coming up and she was struggling on focusing in class without them. They put her with Dr Smith the next day. We came to see the new doctor and to our surprise he was not very pleasant. She wanted to know more about her MTHFR deficiency and what she might could take (vitamins) to help her fatigue symptoms, and he cut her off and told her (There was no fix for her, no magic pill, that she would just have to live with it.) It was the way he said it, very short and rude). She started to get emotional, so it caused me to get emotional too.. However, he did prescribe her a new medication that her therapist had suggested. We felt very uncomfortable and couldn’t wait to leave. We rescheduled with Dr Derryberry instead of Dr Smith for her follow up visit because she felt more comfortable with Dr. Derryberry. The appointment was a month away. We show up to the appointment, I hand her my Co-pay card for payment and she pushes a piece of paper my way and said, “Dr Derryberry will not be seeing her .” I ask her why? She said that we had received a note in the mail, which I did not get. I kindly told her that she needed to see him because she had a follow up on her new medicine and also needed a signed travel note for her trip with her school band. They were traveling to Europe in a few days and the travel company had notified us at the last minute that she would need a signed note from the proscribing doctor for her Aderall to get through Customs. The young girl said rudely, “You can go to a walk in clinic”. I asked her kindly again, why wouldn’t he see us, and she repeated herself. I tried to read the letter but I started to cry, I couldn’t understand why they would not see her anymore and the letter had no explanation. There was no compassion from this young lady at all. I told her that I was very confused and she just stood there with a smirky small grin on her face. She sort of acted like she was enjoying herself while she was treating us this way. She made me and my daughter feel like we were garbage off the street and like we had done something terribly wrong. I felt really crushed and hurt. I told the young lady that basically this situation felt very mean. I had never been asked to leave a practice in my entire life, I’m 49. I asked if I could please talk to Dr Derryberry and I was refused. I told her that my whole family goes there. She asked my name and date of birth and then did something in the computer and said nothing else. My daughter and I couldn’t believe what had just happened. It crushed my daughters heart too. I was sobbing when we left the office. I am still in disbelief of what occurred and can’t understand for the life of me what we did to make them treat us this way. So hurt. My daughter has no way to get a note to get through customs at the airport. She has worked so hard to get to go on this trip with her band group and I have no idea if they will allow her through customs now with her medication. It has just ruined our Christmas. Devastated is just all I can say.

Deeply disappointed. I distinctly and clearly discussed costs prior to a procedure and paid what I was asked to pay. Two months later, I was sent another bill nearly the size of previous one. Had to call 11 (yes 11) times, only to be repeatedly hung up on when transferred. Once I finally got to “Vann”, she was pleasant and understanding, but unable to offer any solutions. Will be filing complaint with HSS and other appropriate agencies. As a Chattanoogan of nearly 25 years, I had expected an organization like Galen to provide a more well-rounded customer experience, but the way this has been handled, it appears that the customer is no longer their focus. Sad.

Edit: Just found out I was told the procedure would be $813 and $275 for anesthesia when in reality it was $997 plus $275 for anesthesia. Had to do the procedure twice due to a tear. So basically I was lied to about the correct billing amount for self pay and 7 months after the procedure, I now have to pay an additional $635 out of pocket. Do you research and get all costs in writing or record your phone calls with these people. Going to have to call them back as I found the original estimated payment amounts in my email and paid for that procedure upfront.Went here for an upper GI procedure. Everyone was nice, polite, professional and put me at ease. Did not wait long after my check in and it was a pleasent experience. Thankful for those that helped with prep, assisted with and did the procedure. So far I have had great experiences with a couple different Galen offices and those who have called have been professional as well.

Physician (dr. Smith) and office staff lack professionalism and are extremely rude. I was started on a medication after lab work being abnormal but physician never bothered to talk to me about it. He ignored my messages on portal system and when I called to speak with the provider, I was instructed to schedule an appointment. During my visit, physician was extremely defensive and yelled when I asked if I would benefit from medication or if it would hurt me and if we could do further evaluation. Of course I fired the physician and found a new pcp with a different group. New PCP was shocked that I was prescribed medication without complete diagnostic work up and agreed it would hurt me more than help. Also saw a specialist just to be on safe side and he stated that the above management is not the guideline recommendation and would do me harm. I filed a complaint with the manager and never got a follow up. But sure did get a bill six months later for office visit.

Dr. Tigar is my baby’s pediatrician. He came highly recommended on NextDoor, so I decided to check him out and I’m so glad I did! Dr. Tigar is kind, compassionate, patient, and very intelligent. As a lover of science, I appreciate that he is always informed of the latest professional recommendations. He truly takes the time to explain EVERYTHING to me and my husband and he treats my baby with so much care. I can see why everyone in Chattanooga recommends him :) Also the office is very clean, the front desk ladies are super nice, and they always answer the phone promptly.

Another disgusting example of medical profiteering.I'm fully insured and can pay cash if needed; however, the first question this group asks is "what insurance do you have?"Ask me what medical problem I am experiencing first. My primary Dr. was Dr. Bujak. Incredibly thoughtful and kind physician. He recently moved to this group and due to their thirst for. money and lack of humanity, I have lost a great doctor.

We use dr.gunter and he's been the best with both my girls. He always listens to my concerns and refers me to a specialist to get down to the root of the problem. I'll use him as our pediatrician until he retires!

My son has been with this office for 12 years. The Dr's are very attentive and listen to any and all concerns. I've seen all of them because if it's a sick appointment they see whoever is available. They always ask a lot of questions of both of us, give plenty of time and attention. They're very thorough and very kind. Love them. Dr Harris is our primary. If you need a callback they call you back. I can't say enough about this practice and all of the physicians and staff. Have recommended them many times.
