These guys are AWESOME, had to have my car towed due to an Auto Technicians mistake, they were phone courteous, prompt, and the driver was very friendly, we talked all the way to the shop ? and the price was reasonable. I'm using them from now on. THANKS GUYS! YOU HAVE A HAPPY CUSTOMER!?

If I could leave negative stars, I would, unfortunately that’s not an option! This is by far the WORST experience I’ve had in my life, not just with mechanics but with any business I’ve ever dealt with! If you care about your vehicle, I highly recommend taking it ANYWHERE but here! Not only do they do bad work, they will rip you off then cuss you when you question them.Service: General repairs & maintenance

Came into town and my car started making a weird noise, a tale as old as time. I called Downtown Auto up the next morning and they were able to fit me into their schedule to diagnose AND fix the problem before I was scheduled to leave town. For the last 20 years this has been my "phone-a-friend" when I'm in need of a tow. This company has consistently been fast, friendly, honest, affordable and reliable. They're fair with pricing & remain considerably cheaper than AAA. On one occasion I was able to be serviced after normal business hours for a small fee and the customer service was unchanged. They are the Chick-Fil-A of the mechanic world. This Place has been a thriving & booming small business in downtown Chattanooga as long as I can remember and longer than that. I dialed them today and as long as they are around I'll call them again. As always thanks guys!

Car battery had died so I called Down Town Automotive to get my car towed. The southern gentleman I spoke with on the phone was incredibly friendly and helpful and had the best quote in town. Shortly after, I got a call from Gerald who met me at my apartment and quickly got my car to the mechanic. Gerald was kind, informative, and an ease to work with. He talked highly of his job and the company and made an annoying situation a breeze. This company is a must-call.

I got recommended here to see Patrick and was very trusting off the word of mouth from a friend. I went in for some front end work and alignment on my truck. Patrick was very knowledgeable and answered any questions I had. He kept it honest and told me what I needed instead of replacing a bunch of extra stuff thay wasn't necessary. They had my truck fixed and running right faster than I figured the work would take. I've been making excuses to get out the house and drive the truck ever since. What can I say but absolutely amazing service. Super friendly when our van broke down on our vacation they were able to take the time right away to not only diagnose the problem but to fix the van and have it ready to go the next day. They even went above and beyond and dropped us back off at the hotel and when they called to tell me the van was done they even picked us up and brought me and my three children to the shop to get the van. I cannot put into words how highly I recommend this place. So very kind when we were in a new town and desperately needed help. I am so very grateful.Services: General repairs & maintenance

The staff was willing to help my flat tire whereas other repair shops turned it down. When it turned out it was not fixable, they recommended to visit another repair shop which was right across the street because they didn't have a tire to replace mine. Very kind.

My clutch went out as I was rolling into Chattanooga and I called another transmission place and they were backed up and referred me to Down town automotive. They came immediately and towed my vehicle and replaced the clutch, master cylinder, and some other minor issues in 1 day. The shop may not be much to look at but the people make the difference and these guys are no frills car guys. Their rates are reasonable and I will be back for all my automotive needs.Service: Transmission

Wonderful crew they got here. They got my car took care of fairly quickly, and worked with me when it came to when i was able to pick my car up. Not being charged for having to let it sit a few days once it was fixed was a bonus. Patrick did awesome repair in a timeframe that was better than others. Bob is the best for he was ever so patient and such a sweetie when i was finally able to go and pick my car up. Definetly recommend these guys for anyone who finds themselves stranded and in a serious need for a reliable and trustworthy tow and/or repair
