If you’re looking for a place to get away from other hikers and enjoy your time in nature this is a much better option than say Fall Creek Falls and just as beautiful. If you’re looking for “safety in numbers” hike one of the more popular destinations. In a 3-4 mile hike I only came across 4/5 other small groups of 2.It’s beautiful and well marked.I parked at the camp ground store and hiked the river trail to the wetland loop, and back around again to the river trail back to the parking lot.Trails are CLEARLY marked with color symbols attached that the trees. The only mistake I made was leaving the observation tower I came off the stairs and continued walking on the trail in front of me. It led me to the backcountry trail but it was clear within a few minutes and I could look down at the river and see the correct trail. Just a careless mistake, but again the trail was marked with sign posts at important intersections. It was a pretty flat and easy enough hike that would be easy enough for school age children (and it’s easy to shorten or park in a different lot on a different day or after lunch)I’m not in great shape and considered it a decent workout. Didn’t have to really stop and catch my breath or pause. No big uphill climbs.I really enjoyed seeing the wetlands from both sides and climbing the observation deck. Just watching the small birds work their way through the marsh grass was pretty neat.Trails are VERY well defined. You aren’t going to wonder if it’s a park trail or a deer trail that leads into a swamp.Great looking spot to camp. There are lots of amenities in the park itself from a restaurant, store and even a hotel and cabins. Also offers golf course and a skeet range. The bathroom even has free showers if you wanted to bring a kit to freshen up after a long hike.Make sure to stop by and see Cotton the owl and (I think) Buddy the Red tail hawk next to the store in the campground.

It's one of the best parks my family has been to this year! They have various activities and play areas for all different ages. The toddler area had age appropriate equipment for 2-5 year olds. Next to the toddler playground is a splash pad (water is on during summer months), a mud pie station, and logs and small hills for the kids to climb. Their restrooms were clean.

My husband and I embarked on another adventure, this time to Henry Horton State Park, specifically site 38. We eagerly arrived, but unfortunately, check-in wasn't until 12 PM. However, we made a quick stop at the General Store to complete the check-in process. The attendant there was incredibly friendly and provided us with valuable information about the park.Upon entering the park, we were greeted by the breathtaking sight of leaves changing colors for the fall season. It truly was a picturesque landscape. The site we stayed at was particularly impressive, boasting an extra-wide space that was mostly level. Our stay was thoroughly enjoyable, and we were pleased to find that water and electricity were readily available at our site.

Neat little, quiet state park. We stayed there in the off season. Pretty much the only people there. Pool was closed. It was such a nice environment, very calm and the complete opposite to the stress of the city.Playground: Netter Spielplatz

Beautiful state park, a little bit of something for everyone. A little bit away from the city of course, but worth the drive if you're looking to get into a more rural area. There is canoeing the duck River nearby and they do have a golf course on site in the park. I do recommend!

This park has it all! Fishing, shooting range, golf, Frisbee golf, playgrounds, a pool, bird watching areas, a lodge, camping ( rv, and primitive/ tent camping) they even have hammock camping. They have a nice new restaurant, beautiful hiking trails, and more. Everything is fairly priced for what it is. I took my family here for the weekend and had a blast. We hiked on some very scenic trails, used the pool all day, and stayed in the lodge. The state staff is accommodating and friendly, professional, and speak well on the area. I highly recommend this place for a little family getaway.Playground: Multiple play grounds, standards play area and natural learning areas. All are well maintained and keep the kids occupied.Restrooms: Are cleanPicnic area: Plenty of picnic areas around the park. From next to the river, trails. Playgrounds and fields.

This is a wonderful park to camp in! The tall trees provide lots of shade and keep the area cool. It does make it hard to get good Starlink connection, and cell coverage is restricted, but the park does try to provide Internet access through their own wifi network. The trails are well maintained and beautiful. Lots of wildlife activity like squirrels and red Robbins. Utilities are well regulated and easy to access. roads were easily traveled, with no problems getting a large vehicle through. Our vehicle is 40 ft long and 12.5 feet in height for a comparison. good luck with your camping experience here!Playground: there is a jungle gym and fields for kids to play.Restrooms: restrooms were clean and kept up.Dog-friendliness: lots of people walking leashed dogs around camp, and the doggos looked very happy.Picnic area: there are several covered picnic areas to use.

Wow, customer service was top notch! Park was beautiful!Shout out to Hannah Wallace! What a friendly young lady! I bought a bunch of water etc and was going to come back to pick it up as I was walking! She made arrangements with Ben Stanley who was kind enough to deliver it to my campsite! Then, Bobbie Mitchell helped me with my motorcycle! Yeah, she is the bomb! I was looking for a guy to help me and her question was… could a woman manage it! Of course…we had no problem doing it together!Biggest surprise…ride my bike out of the park 3.4 miles and broke down! Left it at a gas station… walked a bit and an suv from the park stopped and asked if I was okay! I mentioned I was walking back to the park as my bike broke down. Not only did Shaun Rainon take me back to the park, he dropped me off right at my site. I will definitely make a point of going back to this park! The trails were awesome, I don’t think there is a bad site in the park! Every employee I mentioned went over and above with a smile and a great attitude! So happy I spent a couple of days here! From Ontario, Canada!Thank you!!

Henry Horton State Park gets 5 stars because I REALLY like this park, not because it's perfect. The park is large with great forest areas & the Duck River. Lots of wildlife - in our 3 days we saw river otters, beaver, deer (including a deer crossing the river), squirrels, hawks, pileated woodpeckers, red-bellied woodpeckers, and many other birds topped by a bald eagle soaring over us on the river. Speaking of the Duck River, we canoed & kayaked from two different put-ins in the park, while catching several bluegill. There is a good restaurant, a visitor center with a nearby picnic area, a golf course, and reportedly a disc golf course. There are plenty of hiking trails to keep you walking for hours. The campground is in a beautiful forested area along the Duck River, providing great shade for those sunny Tennessee days. Most of the sites are well-separated from the other sites, and the winding access road for the RV campground (there are separate tent and hammock campground) is wide enough to make for easy back-in, but there are also a number of pull-thru sites as well. The water & electric hookups are well-placed in most sites that I noted, and each site has table, fire pit, and lamppost. There is a nice playground with big sandpit near the camp store. Two dump stations are across the exit road from the playground, as well as a pair of dumpsters for your trash. The campground was clean, and the hard-working camp hosts were friendly. There were three shortcomings that I can think of - none of them major. First, expect to do some leveling of your camper, both fore and aft as well as side to side. I used my entire set of legos under my left wheel to get it high enough, and a long rig (my TT is 20') might have to raise both sides on some downhill sites to get level fore and aft. Second, with only two bathhouses, some of the sites are a bit distant. Third, the two bathhouses aren't first-rate. They were clean, but seemed dingy, so they didn't "feel" clean. Most of the fixtures were aging, & since there were no paper towels, the aging blow dryers left you with wet hands as you left the bathhouse. The shortcomings are far offset by the great experience the park provided, and we'll definitely return as time allows.

This was the best afternoon, learned a ton from Cameron ( instructor) about skeet and trap. He was very knowledgeable and patient with us. I felt like we were treated like friends and not customers. I would suggest this as a great afternoon for any one. The facilities are top notch and the prices are perfect to shoot a lot.I will definitely do this more often. So if you like to shoot or learn about shooting skeet and trap this is a perfect starting point. ?
