Stopped in to get a new freehub on my Schwinn...said it'd be about an hour came back and not only did he change it out for me but he also tuned my bike up and the only thing I got charged for was the parts... definitely knows his stuff and they both were very nice... definitely will be going back in the future

This qualifies as one of those 'hole-in-the-wall-gems' of Bristol!!This is a bicycle shop and locksmith all in one, with great people, service, and pricing too!!I've got an older French door style patio door with a proprietary lock system that broke. The Big Box stores have nothing to support this system and their only option is replace the door system to get modern style locking mechanisms.Boyd's saw the lock, properly ID'd it, actually had spare parts, and got it operational in no time!!They also have TONS of bike parts and a few nicer bikes for sale. We talked about bikes for a few and the knowledge is obvious!Can't wait to purchase a couple of bikes from them!

Seriously lacking in quality work and integrity. We had them do a small repair and add brakes to a newer bicycle. The brakes didn't work after their repair, when they previously were fine other than needing new pads. Nearly caused a very serious injury as my spouse went headlong into concrete downhill, uncontrolled, because the breaks went out completely. Hard pressed to believe this wasn't from shear laziness and ineptitude. We immediately took the bike to another local shop, who indicated they thought things had been replaced//repaired incorrectly. They were stunned by the "work" indicating Boyds had taken our money but not repaired as they claimed. They further indicated this was not the first time this has happened with others bringing bikes in for the same repair Boyds claimed to had done. I do believe whoever is currently managing Boyds is not offering the quality previously attributed to this shop. Stay far, far away.

I needed a duplicate key made for an old mid-90s Toyota truck -- the hardware store I visited first made it wrong, and the big box stores wouldn't even touch it (but did recommend Boyd's). This place perfectly crafted two duplicates for me -- the sheer number of keys they have in this tiny storefront is mind boggling. And if I ever need help with a bicycle, I will definitely go here first. Thanks Boyd's!

If you are looking for a picture-perfect bike shop for your Instagram or Twitter feed, with racks full of shiny, new bikes and gear, keep looking. What Boyd’s lacks in flash and sparkle, they make up for in knowledge and expertise that is second-to-none. The shop and their mechanics have 60+ years of experience working on bikes. If you have an issue or need advice or parts, they have been there. I bought a 30+ year old bike, and the guys at Boyd’s helped me get it going and update it with newer tech.Unless you are looking for form over function, you simply cannot find a better shop in the area.

We have a cheap bike from Wal-Mart... fixed brake lever, adjusted gears, shock bushing, double-check on everything. How fortunate we are to have people as knowledgeable as Boyd's. Good people...
