“I recently adopted an older dog who is heart worm positive. This being the first dog I’ve owned who’s had heart worm, I was unaware of a lot of what that entailed/ restrictions she may have in terms of grooming.
With that said, I booked an appointment for 5/9 to get groomed at Petco. Upon arrival, the groomer and I went over my dogs medical history. She informed me that due to the positive heartworm test she was unable to have my dog groomed until she was negative (thankfully the animal shelter I adopted her from is covering this currently as part of the adoption).
I know this seems like an odd review to be “positive” but I want to genuinely thank the Brentwood petcos grooming staff for holding this standard. As an unaware owner (at the time) I feel guilty for booking an appointment. The groomer and her manager handled the situation with poise and empathy. I appreciate that they not only held my dogs health into consideration but also all dogs they where currently grooming. This speaks volumes about their character. I absolutely intend on taking my dog there to be groomed once negative. Thank you again for informing me as a new owner and having empathy in handling the situation.”
