We had the absolute best experience with Melissa & her team! Throughout the planning process, Melissa made sure to check in to see if there was anything she could help with and gave us recommendations when we asked. The day of the wedding went SO smooth and I know it wouldn’t have without the team at Prairie View. We had the absolute best time and received so many compliments on how nice the venue was! Thank you so much Melissa & team!

DO NOT HAVE YOUR WEDDING HERE. You and your family deserve to be treaTed better. The owner has no respect for anything but her pockets. The place is extremely dirty ! floors are sticky, not enough garbage cans and had no bags in them. Wouldn't be a problem if the staff was helpful. I feel bad for the employees working in a toxic environment. They honestly seem scared of her. i just found out the lightbulbs in the suites have been out for 5 + months. There was no soap in the women's bathroom. Staff brought out all garbages before 9 pm and before we could get things cleaned up. We requested seating for 120 and there was only 112. When I asked for a couple extra tables I was met with much resistance and was made to feel very inconvenienced by Melissa. We requested champagne in the bride and grooms sweet and was told it wouldn't be a problem. This was not provided. the female bartender wanted to help but was scared she would be yelled at by the owner.

Reposting as I agree with this:A year has passed since my experience at Prairie View Event Hall, and writing this review remains one of the saddest tasks I've undertaken. I feel compelled to share my honest feedback, though it pains me to do so.First and foremost, the lack of professionalism and communication from the event coordinator was deeply disappointing. We initially received the wrong event date, which forced us to pay extra to correct the mistake. This miscommunication was stressful and unnecessary.During the two days of our wedding, the event coordinator's behavior was far from what one would expect in the industry. On the day of my wedding, she was dressed in sweatpants and appeared quite sloppy, which did not reflect the level of professionalism I had hoped for.Furthermore, we encountered several issues during our event that were not adequately addressed. The fence, which was part of our initial booking, was missing, and the floor was in poor condition. When we requested to put down vinyl to improve the appearance of the floor, we were met with resistance and rudeness. One of the most frustrating aspects of our experience was the claim of having a "full-service kitchen." Despite this claim, the event coordinator made it incredibly difficult for my family, who was catering the meal, to use basic amenities. Her attitude toward my family, including her refusal to let them use water, was completely unprofessional.I also want to note that this venue does not appear to be multicultural couple-friendly, which is unfortunate. Many halls in the Sioux Falls/Sioux City area do not allow for outside catering, and it's disappointing that Prairie View Event Hall, while allowing outside catering, made it so challenging for our family to provide the meal we wanted.Additionally, I couldn't help but feel that the event coordinator's behavior seemed biased and unprofessional. Her interactions with us raised concerns about possible discrimination. What truly hurt my experience was the incident involving my decorator. Staff or the event coordinator called the police on my decorator while they were at the venue to collect their items. This incident upset my decorator so much that they have decided not to return to Sioux Falls to provide their services again. It's disheartening to think that a negative experience at this venue could have such a lasting impact on a professional. As if these issues weren't enough, when we were leaving at the end of the weekend, the event coordinator didn't even leave the lights on for us to safely collect our items.Additionally, to our dismay, the event coordinator posted photos of our wedding on social media websites without our permission, violating our privacy. It's worth noting that, interestingly, we no longer have the ability to review her page as she has removed that option. We've also heard from several other couples who indicated that she was discriminatory and mean to multicultural couples.Over all, I cannot in good conscience recommend this venue to anyone, which is truly unfortunate. I hope my feedback can help others make more informed decisions when considering their event venue.

I do not recommend this place unless it is your last resort. When we booked this place there was a fence outside blocking the view of the industrial buildings which was great for an outside wedding. Until a storm tore the fence down and venue refused to replace it. Therefore we could not have an outdoor wedding due to what the background of our photos would look like. We were then told that they were going to put up large bushes to hide the view to the road. These “large bushes” were thin, only two of them, and they were about 2 feet tall. We were told the outside of the building was going to be painted before our wedding, this did not happen. When we got there on Friday night for rehearsal there was food on the floor from lord knows when and it was covered in ants. There were also ants all over the kitchen. We brought this to the owners attention, she said she would handle it, it was not handled as the SAME FOOD was on the floor the following day when we came back to get ready for the wedding. Later during the day Saturday I noticed multiple ants crawling up my wedding dress and found out on Sunday that one of my guests found and ant IN THEIR DRINK. When we got to the venue Friday night we discovered they had no hot water, and there was a leak in the kitchen ceiling. The prep tables and floor were covered in water. While our family was in the kitchen Friday night preparing for the rehearsal dinner all of the lights went out in the kitchen. When we were there Saturday getting ready all but 4 of the lights in the bridal suite were burnt out. The floor in the entire venue was disgusting. Our flower girl was walking around with no shoes all morning and her feet were black when we looked at them to put her shoes on. There was also food on the floor in the bridal suite that was not ours. The grooms suite was extremely warm all day long, which was very uncomfortable for all of the men while they were getting ready. When we met with the owner for our final walk through we requested certain alcohol. She did not get the alcohol we requested and when we asked why she claimed the warehouse was sold out, which my husband used to work for the beer company and was able to ask a former coworker if they were out and they were not. For our ceremony we were doing a shot at the end of the aisle, the owner said she would have the shot ready for us. Luckily our photographer noticed that the shot was most definitely NOT ready and had my personal attendant do something quickly. The stage where people are normally putting their head tables is very unsafe as there are boards sticking up everywhere. And the floor by the stage has paint chipping everywhere and it looks horrible. I am very disappointed with what we paid for this venue with how many issues we had and how things were not handled the way they were supposed to be.

There were so many promises made on things for our wedding that were not fulfilled. Building is not well maintained at all. I could go on and on. Just don't recommend this place. Definitely not the "upscale" venue they claim to be.

I am not the type of person to throw race into everything but what my family and I experienced here was enough to not only file a lawsuit but to write this very detailed review. Which I will also be sharing via my Social media accounts. If you are African, or African American I STRONGLY advise against booking this event space. The blonde hair lady was the most unprofessional and rude individual I have ever met. Since the night started this woman was intentionally SEEKING a reason to cancel the wedding. The wedding that took 2 years to plan. Her behavior and demeanor was so vile and unwelcoming, but we tried to ignore it. First this woman stood outside in 100 degree weather body guarding the door because “no one is coming in until 7” as if just locking the door wasn’t enough. She stood out there with the worst attitude, arms folded, barricading the door. But we ignored her and went back to our cars and waited until 7. Then she accused people of stealing alcohol. How? When you have your own staff working behind the bar? But the worst of it all was when she went through the bridal parties rooms searching through all of their belongings while they were on the dance floor doing their walk in entrance dance. This woman insisted that she found 2 empty bottles of Hennessy (Outside Alcohol) and instead of talking to anyone, giving a announcement through the MC or talking to the people she signed a contract with, she decided to just cancel the wedding. Over an EMPTY BOTTLE that she did not see ANYONE DRINK or have proof of. The bottle was also empty when it came in the building. We tried to explain that the bridal party had to clear out the bus when they arrived, and the EMPTY bottle came from the bus. And the empty bottle was left in a bag deep under peoples clothes that they were changing into, so please understand that this woman was DEEP SEARCHING through personal belongings while no one was in the room. $1000 in ones also went missing during this “search” that she claims she didn’t see, but yet you seen an empty bottle? Ruined someone’s day that they can not get back over an empty bottle. My family begged her, offered to give more money, pay a fine, ANYTHING that wouldn’t result to us being kicked out over a misunderstanding and this woman was so heartless and cold. She did not care. She was even laughing while telling the MC. That hurt my spirit. SHES ALSO DONE THIS TO 4 OTHER BLACK WEDDINGS!!!!!! She then weaponized the police by stating and I quote “ If you don’t want it to get bad I suggest you leave before I call the police” with a sick smile on her face. The feeling of disgust and shame this woman installed on my family and guest, that have traveled thousands of miles to celebrate such a beautiful moment was so unbearable that one of the maids of honor FAINTED! While this lady laughed and hid behind the police because she wanted to look scarred and as if her life was in danger. I STRONGLY STRONGLY ADVISE DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS EVENT HALL! If you are a person of color. As I stated before my family will be filing a lawsuit. This was the most awful experience ever. And it was supposed to be a beautiful day. And she ruined it with no remorse. 11 THOUSAND DOLLARS GONE. DO NOT BOOK!

I was asked to officiate my friends wedding and they chose the Prairie View Event Hall as their venue. The venue had their fence fall down due to a storm, however, they were able to have both the wedding and reception inside so there were no issues. They even had center pieces there at the venue for them to use! The hall was lovely and the areas to get ready were spacious and comfortable. From what I understand, they are still working on renovations so it will be even better in the future.

My fiance and I absolutely loved having our wedding here! Melissa was awesome and easy to work with and has done a wonderful job creating such a fun and beautiful space. The bridal suite and groom suite was perfect for getting ready and for photos! We were even able to include our dog rocky in our big day!If you are looking for a venue that is luxurious, has many amenities for a very reasonable price then look no further!
