I had my wedding reception here in September for the price I paid for it you would expected a clean room nope. I would never recommend someone to have there wedding reception here. I got told last minute they dont do the decorating and they would not work with me to let us in to decorate the night before. So we had to do it all the morning of the day of the wedding. Then they forgot to put my free room down for the night. Put us in a handicap room and the bath tub wasnt even clean. The reception room wasn't vaccummed when we came the morning of the wedding day. When we got there for the reception the employees were very rude. They weren't supposed to have the food out tell 6pm and my DJ told me they put it out 3pm it was burnt I did not eat. For the $2000 I spent on food you think it would of been edible. The bar tender cut people off at 9pm when we had the room tell 2am. There customer service was terrible! Would not recommend to anyone! Oh n my sister had booked a reservation for they day before and day of and they messed that up completely too.Rooms: The room needed vaccummed and the tub still had hair in it.Food & drinks: Food was burnt

Great stop on our trip. Pet friendly clean rooms. We ate at the hotel restaurant. It was good food and friendly service all the way around.

I'm normally not a reviewer but I just thought I would leave one. If you're considering staying here double check if the pool is open is that is a must for you, I read reviews that it was under construction back in June so I assumed it would be been finished being as its almost December and when we checked in we were informed it was still closed. Not a huge deal but my 11 year old was excited to swim. The room was ok a best... with that being said our room had the worst hotel mattress I've ever experienced. It was so hard I had to sleep on top of pillows to be comfortable. This hotel is not an absolute no but the price is outrageous considering how out dated and old the rooms are its not a "nice room". We had a reservation for two nights and after the first night we canceled and went over to Hampton Inn. I wish I would have came over here from the start. They are about the same price but this room was a way nicer experience. Comfortable bed, operating pool, room has its own thermostat. Etc. Save your money and go across the street.

Three rooms over 2 days....First room, Room 100, King pool access, pullout couch- Had a "dirty" smell, carpet looked old and dirty, water in fridge, coffe cup lids had coffee spots on them, HVAC unit not moving air and visibly dirty (found filter was absolutely full - see pictures), toilet had mold spots growing in it, pull out couch had food in it and no linens.Second room, Room 107, king outside access, no pullout couch - did not move into it as it had a strong odor of pest killer.Third room, room 110, king suite pool access, pullout couch - HVAC unit was not fully put together, smelled "dirty", pull out couch was damaged and had no linens, office chair was damaged, shower area looked dirty and visible signs of water damage, used bar of soap left in shower, toilet wouldnt flush.Website shows pool construction until 10/31/2023 and is not open.Hallway has damaged and missing ceiling tiles.Rooms: Disgusting and broken

This is the strangest Holiday Inn I've ever stayed in. It reminds me of old Vegas. The hotel is very dated. The carpets in the halls are old and stained. Our room had two doors. One from the outer hallway, and the other overlooking the indoor pool area. The pool area is under renovation, so unavailable for use. The hottub is clearly not being used, yet it remains full of really gross looking filmy water. There is also a wading pool that isn't in use, but has water in it also. Additionally, there is a covered arcade area and an area with many tables set up to congregate in. Our room was very dated, with very heavy popcorn texture on the ceiling and wallpaper that was coming up in several areas. The AC/heating unit was something I've not seen for many, many years, but it did work.The cabinet which housed the fridge and microwave (with drawers between the two) was poorly constructed. Every time we opened the door that goes to the fridge, the drawers opened too. There was a piece of the bed frame that was sticking out well beyond the box spring. I hit my my shin on it and gouged a pretty big chunk out of my shin. I had to go get bandages from the front desk as I was bleeding badly, which doesn't mesh well with all white bedding. Personally, I would not stay here again.

Holiday Inn Spearfish, South Dakota is a very good hotel. This is an older hotel. I’m guessing 35+ years old. Everything is clean, the beds are comfortable and the staff is absolutely amazing. Our rooms WiFi wasn’t working very well, so the front desk just let us borrow another room so we could attend an online conference call for 3 hours for no additional fee. The rooms are reasonably priced. We highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is dated and run down. Everything looked worn and shabby. My room faced the pool area and I could hear people talking when they walked through there. Once the construction is done, it will be loud! The hotel had a weird smell, like cleaning products and fried food. The hotels across the street looked nicer. The breakfast isn't free.

Booked this hotel because it advertised a nice pool and hot tub. We were driving for 10 hours and wanted a nice relaxing evening in the hot tub. When we checked in the front desk person seemed like we were interrupting her show she was watching. We got checked in and there was no mention of the pool or hot tub being closed. I get into my room and it was full of flys and then we see the pool is a construction zone! We decided to stay somewhere else and cancel our reservation but the front desk person wouldn’t give us our money back but instead charged us an additional $20! We went into the room for 2 minutes and it cost us $250! Terrible hotel, terrible staff. DO NOT STAY HERE!

The only real positive was being attached to the restaurant/bar which had great service. The rooms old and in need of updating. Had a poolside room, but no was not informed of the pool remodel which was loud as hell during the day. I stayed here before and told my wife how it was nice, sure has gone down hill

Just checked in. Super discouraged. Lots of construction. Pool is closed. We were encouraged to avoid the elevator. Got to our room. Bathroom door won't actually close. Middle dresser drawer won't stay closed so if anyone gets up in the night and forgets, they will get hurt. Ridiculous situation for the amount of money I'm spending here.

Please save yourself a hassle and avoid this hotel all together. It is inconvenient to say the least. Rooms are stinky & musty. Carpet is super old and sheets felt wet to the touch. It appears that they allow pets in every room as we could smell the pee on carpet & their housekeeping don't even make effort to deodorize the room during cleaning. Location is fine. But this hotel needs serious upgrades & room freshners.The 1st room they gave me had a/c coming out of the wall & it was super musty. 2nd room they gave me was also super musty & stinky. Toilet didn't flush well either.I booked 3 nights. But decided to stay only 1.I give no star to this place.

Found out the day of our stay that the pool still wasn't done and there was no arcade as the website promised.....needless to say, our son was very disappointed. There was a corvette convention during our stay, which was super cool, but the hotel was packed. I assume that is why we were placed at the back of the hotel on the corner/end right by the door, which was pretty loud with people coming in and out. Restaurant was ok, seemed like frozen food was just heated up. My son's chips, salsa and cheese was clearly just jar food from store. Breakfast on the other hand was great. Our server was awesome and it was very cool to talk to the participants in the convention while we were there. Wouldn't stay here again as it was almost $300 and you could get way more of the spearfish adventure staying in a cabin.

It’s older and desperately needs updating. Other than the musty smell of our 1 bedroom “pool view” room, the room was spacious, king and queen bed were quite comfortable and it was as clean as it could be in its current state. The sofa bed bowed like a hammock in the middle-luckily a kid slept on it and I don’t think those are ever great at any hotel. The pool area is under construction so can’t comment on that. Family said breakfast at the restaurant was great! Coffee/hot chocolate bar was out of supplies during the evening and the following morning, but I’m sure staff would have helped if we asked as they were otherwise helpful. Few fast food type places and Walmart close by. Place needs some major updating, but has potential.

What a great place to stay. The rooms were clean. The service was very friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would recommend staying here if you have the ability to do so. The only negative is they were remodeling the pool, so no swimming for my grandchildren. Plus: they gave us a meal voucher because of the pool. You do not get a free continental breakfast, but the food in the restaurant is very good.

Worst hotel experience I have ever had!!- First we had to make multiple trips up and down the second floor to the front desk because no room keys would work.- When we finally got a key that DID work, we opened the door to someone was already in our room staying there!- Since they double booked our room they moved us into a different one.* However, the second we opened the door to the new room it smelled very strongly of mold. The carpet was soaked with water gushing out where you step…and the wall had visible mold on it.We needed up leaving of course, but without any help from the front desk about a refund.
