Went there this past Friday and it was closed. I talked to someone a few days before and nothing was mentioned! I drove 45 miles for nothing. Getting ahold customer service is ALWAYS a minum of a half an hour. Ridiculous!!

It was a very great experience. The security guard was cheerful and was joking around with me as we spoke. He was informative as to what I needed to do to accomplish what I was there for. I got my number. It took about 10 minutes and I was already being called to a window. Because the woman yesterday on the phone gave me such precise information as to what forms I needed filled out and what forms I would need to show, I was done in about 3 minutes.

I'm a high school student with no social security card and no idea what my number is. I had to call DURING SCHOOL barely after 9 am, and had to wait two hours on hold only to never actually get transferred. It's just the same automated messages over and over again. I can't even go once I get off school because close so early. What kind of government service gets by on so little open hours??

Needed help finding out how to get info on a social security number for a family member. When I walked into the social security building I was immediately asked if I any weapons or explosives on me. Once I said no I was guided to a digital kiosk to sign in. Chairs were fastened together so I was too close to the guy next to me. I later got up and moved to another seat. The security guard was continually calling different people and telling them to turn off their TPM system, turn back on, and report back to him. This happened 7+ times in the 30 minutes until was waiting. Once my number was called I met a very helpful employee who was able to guide me I. The right direction. Overall better experience than I expected. But they could still put some polish on the whole experience.

Can’t even call to make an appointment without an hour and a half wait time.

What more can I add that others have already said? Wait times aren't so bad for walk-ins if you drop in at the right moment. I've been lucky but I usually came around early afternoon. The reason for the poor score is because of the gross incompetence I have to deal with each time I come in. (See the last paragraph for some context). I started working part time, but ran afoul of the contradictory and confusing "Ticket to Work" rules. My benefits were suspended because I earned too much. On top of that, I now OWED Social Security money for overpayment of benefits. I hurried to the office to sort out my situation in early December, 2023. I was promised that I had to fill out a single form, attach pay stubs, and my benefits would resume once it was turned in. I also had to sign a repayment form or my benefits would not be resumed. The person at the window assured me that if I tried to appeal or get a waiver, I was guaranteed to lose and my benefits would cease permanently. I filled out and returned the same form multiple times, only for it to mysteriously disappear. It didn't make any difference if I mailed it, put it in the dropbox, or finally handed it directly to a representative. It was the same scenario: they'd pull me up on their computer, then sit there skimming the screen, then inform me that my benefits would remain suspended until I filled out and returned the form. After my first visit in early December, they'd find all the dates I'd came to the office, see who I'd talked to, but could never find any of the missing completed forms. Here's the rub: that repayment agreement instantly shows up every single time the representative pulled me up in their system. Selective priorities? In late December I once more filled out the form, attached pay stubs, *but* requested that the representative stamp, scan, and make a copy of every page to give to me for my records while I sat there. Which they did without any protest. But! And there is always a but. Suddenly they needed ANOTHER form, this one from my employer! This after telling me previously that they only needed the form I'd just completed. The form that I could undeniably prove had been turned in. This employer form they now wanted had never came up before. I began seething with fury at being jerked around. I calmly informed the representative that I was extremely frustrated with my situation. I told them that I was broke, I had past due bills, and had no resources to call on. I was owed the resumption of my benefits. My benefits were my main source of support. I told the person it seemed to me that Social Security was doing everything it could to avoid resuming my benefits. They assured me I was mistaken. So this is how my situation is sitting currently, as of January, 2024, about one month after I made my first office visit. In summary, come to the office when you have plenty of free time. Make sure you bring something along to keep yourself busy. And make absolutely sure that you document every single thing. Make copies, request that returned forms are stamped and scanned while you're there, and ask questions, and lots of them. Don't leave any wiggle room for plausible deniability or ignorance. On a side note: I will emphasize that Social Security is badly underfunded and hamstrung by the Federal government. One consistent thing I've been told repeatedly is that there are not nearly enough people working in SS to handle the workload in a timely and efficient manner. Knowing this is what has kept me from becoming a colossal passive-aggressive monster of epic proportions. It (probably) isn't the fault of the individual representatives I've interacted with, but it doesn't lessen the extreme frustration and stress I'm experiencing currently.

Stood in line to turn in papers for approximately 45 minutes. Once I got to counter I stated my reason for being there and gave them the paperwork. She told me the papers would get to right person made copies gave me my papers back and I was done. No answer by person on my question as to when I would know results. Twice I stopped in early morning better than mid or late day.

Biggest mistake is trying to call in to find out info, the calls always get disconnected or the wait time is 30-40 mins just to talk to someone. Going in person wasn’t so bad. The only thing that was “bad or annoying” was just the wait time.
