I have the app and the save deal feature has been glitching lately. I live out of town and have a wonderful dollar general 6 miles away from our house that has made maternity leave much less expensive! Anyway, the cashier ran me up incorrectly and I asked him to fix it because I was making a purchase for me, then for my parents. (2 forms of payment and wanted a receipt.) He made a comment about how much I'm already saving, what's 5 dollars more. Has this man never struggled? Must be nice. They laughed amongst themselves when I quietly asked for a manager to help fix it since I could show him my app wasn't adding it correctly... after confirming the coupons CAN be used together. He said no, repeated the balance...so I paid with frustrated tears in my eyes.A fellow customer heard the exchange and said he felt bad for the treatment I received and gave me a 5 dollar bill. I really hope these guys treat people better in the future.

Went in today on 11/9/2023, to get something’s for work. The lady was in the cooler area and just told me just let me know when you are ready to check out, after I grab the drinks the lady started to following me and watch me. Felt very racially discriminated by her. It’s like you don’t know me and I make way more money than you do, she needs to take a look at herself in the mirror before judging someone else who is another race.

The store aisles are so small a Wheelchair barely fits in the width of the aisle. There were carts used for stocking sitting empty blocking shoppers. The shelves were messy. The checkout sits by store office or smaller store room also shopping products in same spot making it an awkward area for the customer and staff.

The guy stocking was great , helpful and kind . The gal at the checkout was more worried about checking her phone and texting than getting an order rang up ..total flippant attitude like we were annoying her ?.. long backed up line too .

Says they open at 8. It's almost 9 and the doors are locked and nobody's answering the phone. Employee was out front smoking and didn't even acknowledge the 3 of us trying to get into the store.

Staff deal with a lot of people all day so it’s hard to remember a person out of 200 plus people. Staff will tell you how many bags you have and don’t “keep” them for themselves. The store is short staffed and picking out all the negative isn’t fair. There’s a lot of positive things. Retail can be stressful and staff do their best for each customer.

This store is right on my route between work and the warehouse. I used to stop in here quite frequently. Store manager is a bit hit and miss. Helpful one day, not so much the next. Rest of the staff is pleasant/helpful. Have always been told "X bags" or asked if I would like my receipt. Few of them need a bit more training on how to put in bags (IE no canned goods with chips/bread). Lots of clutter/stock not put away consistently in the aisles. Constantly out of popular items. You get the "we haven't been getting that in lately" excuse. I find it funny that another Dollar General in the vicinity always has those same items. I started going to that one now instead. Definitely worth the extra mile drive.

Be careful shopping here if you are a minority. My niece was shopping at the Harrisburg location and asked to empty her pockets in order to use the bathroom. Once they saw that she had not stolen anything they couldn't even offer up an apology. The GM for Harrisburg/ Sioux Falls stores didn't care, even though this practice violated thier own policies. Shame on them for allowing such racist behavior!

ZERO stars actually. This place has become a joke. I visited this store at 445pm on Monday February 21st, and for the 3nd time in a row, they did not give me one of the bags of my purchased items. (I spent $109.86 this visit) I realized after arriving home, that I was missing the magic erasers I had purchased and low and behold, the clerk once again did not give me my receipt. Luckily I have the DG app that tells you what you recently purchased, and it was one of the first things on the list. (It wouldnt be there if i hadn't purchased it.) I sent my husband back to the store to retrieve them because I already paid for them, and the clerk "didn't remember" him, even though we were just there 5 minutes prior through a lengthy check out process. The manager who also had to adjust the prices of some of the items I bought on clearance, refused to give them to my husband! They were still behind the counter off to the side for God's sake! She was incredibly rude and told him that we would have to pay for them again!! I couldn't believe it. That place is a disaster, and with business practices like that, I hope they get shut down.. Sad to say considering I have been a regular customer of theirs for over 6 years.

Worthless store. As soon as Hy Vee closed it's doors the store on Kiwanas started closing at 6 P.M. Don't give them business.

Asked for one of the 200+ broken down cardboard boxes in the store. They didn't sell any in the store but the guy working (looked like a shift manager) gave me a round about no. He couldn't flat out say no even. He said he would but I should go to hyvee and get one instead. And that they recycle the boxes which apparently means he couldn't spare one. Translation = he wouldn't spare one. I just hope he gets punched regularly.

Replace the current manager Steve! Long story short my daughter (9 years old) had to use the restroom he told her she couldn't and had to go to Ace Hardware next door. I asked why he says "Covid". He also said that all the stores have that rule...I called the other stores and found this to be a lie. This is a dignity issue! How would one feel of they accidentally emptied their bladder out because of not being able to use the restroom? Do you not clean your restroom? Covid is not a reason and then to lie about it. You as a general manager represent your company. Is dollar general just as deceitful and disrespectful as you are?

An item was left at the store and the employees kept it for themselves. Absolutely will never patronize an establishment who employs thieves.
