They are complete scammers, charging 3X the market price for service, poor communication, then towed my car illegally to an unknown location without my knowledge while I contacted the corporate office. Disgusted.

My spouse and I went into Courtesy Subaru back in September 2022 to look at the Outbacks. We met Steve. Steve was incredibly patient throughout the whole process. He showed us the vehicles and answered all our questions. We wanted to give it a few days to think it over. There was no pressure whatsoever, and Steve told us to let him know when we were ready. We can back shortly later to order an Outback Wilderness. Steve took the time to make sure we got everything we wanted, crunched numbers for us, and offered a trade-in on our vehicle above the blue book value. It took ~6 months to receive the vehicle, but Steve kept us informed on the car's status during that time. We just picked up our car this week, and we could not be happier. I wasn't surprised to hear people say that once they get a Subaru, they stick with it. But we were completely blown away by the customer service. Seriously, it was one of the best experiences we've ever had in buying a vehicle. Even after purchasing it, Steve said to occasionally stop by for a car wash and to just say hi. I highly recommend Courtesy Subaru. If you go-definitely go thru Steve! You won't be disappointed.

I flew in from out of state to purchased a specific used car Courtesy had in stock. After getting nowhere with several other dealerships the folks at Courtesy were super helpful and friendly. Do recommend.

This is an update on a review I did on March 8th. After talking with other mechanics about the warning light that continued to come on and trying a few things, that was suggested, I finally called the Subaru dealership. I was very anxious because I couldn't afford another big bill. I ask to speak with the manager. Travis was helpful, said they stand behind their work. First he sent me a free "Subaru gas cap", as that often fixes the problem. That didn't work so I made an appointment. They had difficulty figuring out the problem and ended up keeping my car over the weekend. I was given a loaner, and continued to keep in touch. When I got my car back it was clean, delivered to me with a full tank of gas and no bill. I was told to call them immediately if the warning light came back on. They did stand behind there work. I will go back, but it is always a good idea to ask questions.

Absolutely great service, professionalism and kindness. A big shout out to Dewayne, Service Advisor, for making the visit seamless. Highly recommend this dealership and service department! Thank you!

I was told I would be able to place a deposit to reserve a vehicle. I alerted other dealerships I was working with so as not to waste their time. Courtesy sold the car I was supposed to have reserved. No I'm stuck back at square one. Not even a "courtesy" call from anyone. Do not do business here. They will waste your time.

We were on a road trip when our low tire pressure light came on. Stayed on after we checked pressure, so we decided to have the nearest Subaru dealer look at the tires. They got us in right away, adjusted the tire pressure for altitude (who knew?) and got us on our way in less than 15 minutes. Very helpful, friendly staff, nice waiting area. Good job, Courtesy Subaru service department!

We purchased a new Subaru Forester today for my 80+ year old mother. She also wanted to trade in her old Forester, for a fair price. This is an unusual time to buy a car, with the chip shortage. New cars are in short supply, and some dealers are selling with a 'premium' above the list price. We walled in and met Jason Perrett in sales. Yesterday they had 5 Foresters in stock. Today they had 2. The few cars that arrive are flying off the lot. Needless to say this is a "seller's market" and buyers are at a distinct disadvantage. We were prepared to walk out and wait till next year, after the chip shortage - when the normal supply of vehicles is restored. Fortunately, one of the remaining Foresters matched what my mom was looking for. So we went to Jason's office to discuss the numbers. It was pointless to negotiate the selling price. The key questions: (1) Would Courtesy Subaru try to add a 'premium' to the list price? (2) What value would they would give for her trade-in, which was in excellent condition? We had checked Kelly Blue Book and knew what it was worth. First, Courtesy Subaru was not attempting to gouge customers with a 'premium' on the MSRP. Second, they offered a fair and reasonable price for her trade-in -- which matched Kelly Blue Book's value. Third, Jason made the process quick and simple. He is clearly an experienced, professional and pleasant salesperson -- interested in a win-win solution with customers. I have spent decades as a senior executive, and good salespeople are hard to find. I would hire Jason tomorrow. Instead of waiting a year, we drove home with her new Subaru Forester -- which is a significant improvement over her previous Forester. That's another key point: Subaru makes great vehicles, with high reliability, excellent performance and high Consumer Reports ratings. I have owned three; my current Subaru is an STI -- one of the best sports cars for the money, period. So, if you live in the Rapid City area, I strongly suggest contacting Jason Perrett at Courtesy Subaru if you are looking for a new vehicle. He earned my highest recommendation -- and I have purchased quite a few cars. Mark Hays

We purchased a Subaru Forester 2 years ago and we were very happy with the process, the car, and the initial service we received afterwards. However, the past few visits have been less than stellar. Last year the passenger airbag sensor started acting up and during an oil change visit I mentioned it to a service manager. Even though he could see that Subaru had sent several emails indicating a problem, he had me sit in the car and somehow made it seem like I was imagining things, and then told me it could be because I had a USB cable lying around the car. I gave in, but the problem persisted so I called to make an appointment. I live 3 hours away so scheduling it is never easy. Somehow I never heard back about the part that needed to be ordered and when I followed up with the service manager he did not return my call. By the time I followed up a second time the part was no longer in stock. Around the same time the airbag problem seemed temporarily to have gone away. Then a couple of months ago it returned, and much more frequently. I made an appointment and this time I received a call within a couple of days that the part was in stock. So far so good. But when my wife and I got there after a 3 hour drive, we noticed that not a blessed soul in the entire building--neither sales people, nor service staff, nor customers--were wearing masks. Literally the only protection was a plexiglass divider that the service personnel all but circumvented when talking to customers. We did not feel safe waiting in the building so we ended up spending over 2 hours outside in 85 degrees while the car was being fixed. There was no social distancing of any kind happening, and everybody acted as if we were not in the middle of a deadly pandemic. We were considering replacing my wife's old car with a new Subaru but are disinclined to buy it at Courtesy Subaru after this experience, and will also likely go a bit farther afield to get our Forester serviced at a dealer that observes proper safety measures.

Would be zero stars if possible. My mother took in her fully operable Forester in for an oil change and asked them if they could check on a rattle. The mechanic told her that he thinks the rattle is in the engine and that it would be $700 to take apart and diagnose. My mom specifically asked how much it would cost to put back together and that if it was a going to be a major repair, she did not have the time or money and if it was a minor repair, she would only consider it. She did not give them consent to do anything more than diagnostic work on her car. Now obviously any decent mechanic would know that any issue in the engine will most likely not be a minor repair. My mother, a 60 year old single woman that knows nothing of cars, obviously did not know. However, this self proclaimed prodigy of a mechanic went ahead and took the engine apart and caused irreparable damage to parts in the process. They call her back and say that it will be $2,600 in parts alone and she said absolutely not. They did not mention that they would not be able to restore the vehicle to the condition she brought it to them and instead agreed to put the car back together how it "was" and that she could pick it up the next day. My mom calls the next day to see when it will be available for her to pick up and NOW is when they say they can not put it back together and that her ONLY options are to either pay $6000 to repair the engine or buy a new vehicle. The vehicle isn't even worth $6000! Over a week of fighting it out with the dealership and them agreeing to other options then going back on their word, the best they are willing to do is waive the $700 diagnostic fee and tow the now useless and worthless car back to her house, and this is after getting the national Subaru support involved. This dealership absolutely took advantage of my mother, and completely mismanaged this entire incident from top to bottom. There is so much more I could write about this incident and how poorly it was handled but I feel this is enough to get the gist of why this is not a trustworthy establishment

We visited Courtesy Subaru in September just to look at the Foresters that were available. Ryan Hinrichs, the salesman, was very helpful in narrowing down what we would be interested and went over our options with us. There was no sales push, just the giving of information. We were not ready to purchase that day, but when a Forester that met our needs came into inventory, Ryan would e-mail us to keep us informed. When we were finally ready to purchase, Ryan and all the staff made the process as easy as it could be. We were very pleased with our purchase experience and with our salesman Ryan in particular.

We were driving across country and were having problems with our oil light repeatedly coming on at higher speeds even though we'd had our oil changed before leaving town and the level seemed fine when we checked. We stopped in at Courtesy Subaru in Rapid City after checking with our service who were unclear why the light was coming on. Jason promptly and pleasantly helped us out explaining that our oil was a bit low and with the higher heat at high speeds thinning it out it was triggering the oil light. He topped off the oil (gave us the rest of the quart) and checked a drain to be sure nothing worse was going on. We were in and out in about 15 minutes, with no charge. No more problems as we completed our trip home to Seattle. Thanks Jason and Courtesy!

Took my 2015 Subaru Outback in for a recall last Friday morning. Service writer, Dylan, advised it was a lengthy recall and perhaps I should leave the car until Monday so they could complete and then wash and make the car nice. I said okay and did without my car for the weekend. Picked up the car at 5 pm Monday and you can imagine my dissatisfaction when the car pulled up for me to pick up not washed and even dirtier for sitting outside all weekend. When I asked the valet why not cleaned he replied "you have to ask for that"......duh!! Emailed the service writer Monday morning my dissatisfaction and no reply...what has happened to customer service. Will not be servicing my vehicle there again and would rather make the long drive to Redding.

Employees provided me with great customer service. Just passing thru Rapid City, needed a service for my 2019 Ascent. Spoke to a lady who is very nice even if they are almost closing time. She went out of her way to ask the Service Department if they will take care of my needs. Curtis gave a superb service. Thank you for helping me out.

Best Subaru dealership EVER!!! Customer service is 2nd to none! I have had several instances where I drop off my car and they don't charge me for minor fixes, they always wash the car before returning it, and their staff is very knowledgeable. They also do a great job of calling and keeping you informed while your car is in the shop. So much better than my Subaru dealership experience in Fairbanks! Bonus: they gave my dog a bandana and stuffed outback toy!
