Beautiful and charming rustic Inn. Check in was seamless and quick. Room was delightfully decorated and the beds are comfortable. I enjoyed a soak in the tub with jets!! Easy to find the place. Breakfast was delicious and coffee was just what I needed. Highly recommend visiting this lovely home.Nearby activities: We came to see the Christmas Tree display at the state capital building.

Randomly stayed a night in Pierre, glad we found this spot! Great price for a nice room with our own patio space. Breakfast was good and service was amazing, if we find ourselves in Pierre again we will stay here again.

While we were a bit nervous when we pulled up to the Hitching Horse - located on a busy highway across from a seedy motel, we ended up being quite pleased with our stay. The room was comfortable (even if a smaller, Full-sized bed would have been a better fit for the room - and fewer pillows when there's nowhere to put them!) and clean. The staff was helpful and friendly. Common areas pleasant. And breakfast, ordered the night before, was delicious and served with coffee and juice. Might have been helpful to have a way to contact hosts before arrival, but everything worked out fine.

Love the character of the old house. The made-to-order breakfast omelets were amazing! She makes the breakfast like my grandmother did. Thank you. Pierre tip: Go down to the St. Charles Inn Bar, great night time bar.

Hitching Horse Inn is a historic home. The friendly housekeeping lady also happened to be the person who prepared a refreshing breakfast for us. The entire home was incredibly clean, both quest rooms and common areas. In the dining room, there was a self-serving doughnut and sweet tea corner, which is a very thoughtful amenity for exhausted travelers like us. I cannot recommend this business enough to anyone who plans to spend a night at South Dakota's capital. For the price we paid, it has certainly exceeded our expectations. Speaking of which, the Capitol building is within a walking distance.

I travel …. ALOT. And this month I’m here in Pierre SD (although everyone keeps telling me I say it wrong).I noticed that as far as hotels in the state capital, selections are limited. However, I did stumble across this locally owned gem, and I’m glad I did ! I found the accommodations VERY comfortable, pricing was affordable & the room clean. Deb (the owner) is welcoming and helpful. I definitely recommend you check it out.

I want you to seriously consider stepping outside of your routine & stay here. It’s not a Hampton Inn, and that’s FINE, because this place has a unique charm of its own! Deb, the owner, is friendly and genuinely makes one feel right at home. The room I stayed in was clean, quiet and very comfortable. In fact, the weather allowed me to sleep with the window open - unlike most hotels. The night air was awesome as I drifted off to the muted sounds of night birds. No issues at all - in fact, Deb will ask you “what do you want for breakfast !?” :-)

This is a very elegant B&B with four rooms in house and each with separate bathroom. We had a jacuzzi in our bathroom and that was very nice. The owner does a nice job running the establishment to keep guests comfortable. Breakfast was nice and so was the owner.

What a wonderful and cozy spot to stop at. My husband and I were doing a cross country trip and needed a one night stopover that allowed dogs. Most of the time that’s a no-name hotel with much to be desired. Thankfully we found the hitching horse inn and Deb made us so comfortable (with two dogs in tow) . The room was spacious and clean, the shower worked wonderfully, the bed was comfortable and she made a delicious breakfast in the morning to boot.

The owner is lovely. The cleanliness left something to be desired. The bathroom needed cleaning and the shower head was faulty. There were what seemed (or at least I hoped) to be pet hairs on the bed linens. I slept clothed just in case. The house has a rustic feel and is quite quaint but the owner was often hard to get ahold of for anything. It was an affordable choice during a busy period, but I honestly, probably wouldn’t repeat the experience.
