We took our 1 year old English mastiff to Midwest dog training for the 3 week training program. He was over 170 lbs and wanted to jump and play not realizing how big he truly is. So we reached out to Midwest. They are great, you can text them as much as you want and check in. They treat your dog like it’s one of their own! Sending pictures and telling you what they have been up to. We picked up our dog and he is a totally different dog, he listens and knows all the commands. I highly recommend Midwest for all your dog training needs

I have a difficult situation with one of our dogs and Chris spoke with me at length about some options for training him. Without a commitment of any kind on my part, he was very up front and realistic about my options and spent quite a bit of time discussing on the phone. It really seems like he truly cares about the family and the dog, and I would certainly recommend Midwest based on my experience so far.

We adopted our pup "Pika" at 12 weeks old back in June, 2023. After 3 and a half months of failing at behavior training at home with our busy family, we started searching for help. After reviewing several options we decide to go with Christian at Midwest Dog Training. We paid for 6 weeks of training. We are so very glad we did! Christian came all the way up to Spirit Lake to pick her up and drop her off. On the return trip he spent plenty of time meeting with us to both showcase what she learned and train us to continue her education. While she is still a puppy and has the tendency to naughty puppy behavior, she responds much better to correction and commands. We feel much better equipped to deal with those behaviors and she seems to be retaining her training well. As a small animal veterinarian with a solid understanding of how much time it takes to train a dog well, I had realistic expectations of how successful 6 weeks of training could actually be. I was very pleased with the results. Further, their dog caretaker Brian shared photos of Pika playing with the other dogs between training sessions which was super important to my wife and kiddos! I am pleased with our results. I will use Midwest Dog Training again for our next pups!Reid Den Herder, DVMDickinson County Animal ClinicSpirit Lake, Iowa

Our son’s dog was trained at Midwest Dog Training and because of his dog’s amazing transformation, we knew our dog would be a great candidate to be trained there as well. Our dog is two and we recently adopted him from the humane society. He is a great dog and we knew with the training expertise from Midwest Dog Training, he could achieve his greatest potential. He has been home for 10 days now and I waited to write this review because I thought that the results were too good to be true. Each day, he becomes a better “great dog” and we are thrilled to have him as a member of our family! Walking him is a joy and he listens! An added benefit to his training is that our other dog’s behavior has improved, too. This training is an investment that pays dividends every single day. We highly recommend the team at Midwest Dog Training!

Cairo, a rescue dog from animal control, was stressing me out to the point I was sure he was going to have to be returned because of his behavior. All around unresponsive to training, inattentive to commands, High anxiety, destructive behavior particularly when I left the home and much more. Problem rescue dogs were not new to me but for whatever reason Cairo was just unresponsive to me. To say I was at my end was an understatement. Midwest Dog training was my final hope before I made that heartbreaking decision to return Cairo to Animal Control. I spoke with Chris on the phone and he explained what he could and couldn't do, did not provide any false hope or claims but explained how through the training there was potential to relieve some of the issues with the dog. He explained that the separation anxiety is not something you can directly stop a dog from doing but through the training Cairo would possibly get the confidence that might make him more at ease. He made no promises about that and was very straight forward about it only being a possibility. After three weeks at Midwest Dog Training, Cairo was a completely different well behaved dog. He now pays attention to commands, has totally lost his destructive behavior, many of his behavioral issue associated with his separation anxiety are gone, I no longer have to give him anxiety medication every day to control his out of control behavior, He is just a total different well behaved dog now. I WAS AMAZED! I cant thank the staff at Midwest Dog Training enough for saving Cairo through their training.

So glad we took our huskies here! Chris and Brian were extremely easy to talk and work with to make sure both our dogs got the attention they needed. Our dogs used to take us on walks , constantly pulling and hard to handle at times and now we are able to take walks and relax since they came home!Their manners overall are night and day since getting back after the 3 week training. We are excited to build on the great foundation they learned in such a short time.Thank you Midwest Dog Training team!!Attached are some photos from of our two white huskies enjoying their social time at Midwest :)

Our Rottweiler, Olive, quickly grew from 25# to 75# when she went to training. I had done a lot of research and found Midwest to be the most affordable. I watched several before and after videos and wanted so badly for Olive to be trained like the ones in the videos. She would listen to my husband, but not me. She would jump on me, knock me over, drag me around the yard..... I seriously regretted having her at times. Midwest was my last hope. When Chris brought her home to us, I could not believe what I saw! I was blown away by her attentiveness and focus on Chris. He then gave me her leash and I walked down the street with her like I had seen in the videos. She has been home about 2 months and I am still in awe of Olive. She is now 95# and our son, who weighs the same, is now able to handle her. I enjoy her every single day as she listens to commands and clearly wants to please us. We get comments all the time from strangers saying how well behaved she is. The money spent and the time away from Olive was soooo worth it! Chris and Kieran are exemplary trainers and Brian took excellent care of Olive. My husband did not want to send her away as he feared she would forget us or her personality would change. That was absolutely not the case!!! As I sit outside right now with Miss Olive wearing no leash and staying in our yard, I am so happy! 2 months ago I would have been chasing her around the neighborhood. Thank you so much, Midwest!!!(Pics are ones sent to me by Brian during her stay at Midwest)

We sent our stubborn Huskies to Chris for 3 weeks, while it was difficult to be away from my babies for so long both Chris and Brian were eager to give details and photos anytime we called for an update. Both of my dogs came home completely new, ready to listen and obey! Leash walking has been the most impressive feat, I never thought I would be able to walk my Huskies without a harness, and now we walk calmly with plenty of leash slack. No pulling! We are still working on not jumping on guests or new friends, but overall they are much more relaxed. I feel very excited about the lifetime support we will get if we ever have questions about training in the future.

Midwest Dog Training is the best place where you can get your pet trained. My German Shepard Ace was a bit tricky for just me to train him so I took him here, and after 3 weeks of him being there he was a brand new dog when he came back to me and I especially love there free after care which they would help with any problem after the dog has been there and free of charge.

Midwest Dog Training did a wonderful job with my 9 month old Brittany. My wife refused to have the dog out of the kennel when she was home because she was simply an energy terror ball zooming through our house. Tonight she came home and the dog quietly walked up to her, sat at her feet, and waited to be petted. It was amazing!!

I totally loved the end result we got from our malinois Enzo. It’s like he’s a different dog. We can finally enjoy our walks without Enzo barking or chasing down another dog. We can also finally have him out at small gatherings with other people without him jumping on them. I’m really grateful for Chris. This is what we needed. Made our lives 100% easier

I swear they brought home some other person's dog! Ethel is attentive. She doesn't jump on people. She doesn't get in the garbage. She is ready to adventure with me as a well behaved dog.

We had two dogs go through the training and we couldn’t be happier. Everyone is so kind you can really tell they care about the dogs. Our dogs are still our lovable fur family members they just learned to listen to us. Thanks so much for helping us understand the commands and how to help them continue to have success here at home.

Our German Shepherd Dog Bella was proving herself to be a challenge to train. We put her through obedience classes and could only get so far with her. She’s incredibly intelligent, but also strong-willed, and she was only willing to listen when she wanted to despite knowing many basic commands. She would bark at people and other dogs constantly, and she was very difficult to walk on a leash. Thus, we looked to Midwest Dog Training for help. Bella went through the 3 week program, and she came back a new dog. We are so impressed! She is now listening consistently; she is now reliably following commands. Taking her on walks is now a pleasant experience; she easily walks on a loose leash, mostly at our side, and no longer pulls. She redirects better with distractions and responds to the command “quiet,” which she outright refused to do in the past. If you are experiencing similar behavioral issues with your dog (or just want an obedient puppy!), I would strongly recommend Midwest Dog Training. It is worth the investment to improve the bond/relationship you have with your four-legged family member: the results are invaluable!
