On Thursday night at 11:15 pm, I received a phone call stating that the credit card I used to pick up my rental that morning had declined. Half asleep, I asked the person who she was and she stated National. I responded "car rental"? and she said yes. I explained to her that I did not pick up a vehicle and my prior rental was 2 weeks prior and paid for. She said, "you didn't pick up a rental this morning at 9am?" and I responded NO. She responded that my card wasn't charged anyway. That night I kept thinking that either someone had a rental in my name or someone is trying something malicious with my credit card. Friday morning I called National Customer Service and they did not show any open rentals for me and that they would have a manager call me. No one called. On Saturday, I called again and explained that no one had called me and the woman on the other line kept responding that my reservation had been cancelled. I tried to explain to her that this was not about the reservation and asked her why I was called about my credit card on a rental that I did not pick up. Again she stated that she would have a manager call. Again, 24 hours later, still no call.I have been an Emerald Club member for over 10 years and expect better answers than what I am receiving. Is there a missing rental in my name somewhere? Is there someone at National trying to entice credit card fraud?

Went in to book a car that was already paid for. When I went into the rental desk I was ask for another 400 dollar deposit that wasn’t mentioned when my money was taken off my credit card. I called to get a refund but I couldn’t get one because I didn’t cancel before I picked up the vehicle. Now because I didn’t want to fork over another 400 dollars they get to keep my 269 dollars because I wasn’t aware of the deposit that they “sometimes” charge

Love them, best rates and they have great vehicles. Rented going from SC to AR to the desk clerk was incredibly helpful when our credit card was initially declined on a technicality...make sure the person booking the trip is also the same person on the payment method

I have been an executive elite member for years. i rented from national as i always do for a business trip and used the express services once i reported their was a little dent in the lift gate by the handle and gave pictures you can see there is no other damage to the back of the vehicle. upon return of the vehicle the attendant stated he had to report it because he got in trouble for not reporting other damages to other vehicles. after i disputed it and sent in the photos they want me to pay over $1000.00 for something the previous renter did. i will never rent from them again even after renting from them for over 15 years.

I have to say that this is by far one of the most impressive locations in terms of customer service that I have experienced. I had a minor issue with my rented vehicle, and upon return, the entire team from the incredibly kind agent that processed my return to the manager in the booth took EXCELLENT care of me. This team should be a model for how other National rental car locations should be managed as they put customer service and satisfaction at the very top of their priority list and it shows! I highly recommend this National location for any of your rental car needs when in the Columbia, SC area!

Scammers. The area manager name Ray Williams promised branch manager Kristin Casey that they will fix the price and call back. two days passed and I am still getting no call back. Be very careful with this location.More:Make sure you get the physical contract and make sure to review the contract completely. Once you find the error, etc. billing, it is very difficult to fix. Customer service will try to avoid from fixing the payment error. I tried to reach them multiples of time they said they will call me back but they never did. They promised to fix the cost by wrongly charging the loss damage fee, but they did not and charged me anyways. Very frustrating, please be careful.

First and foremost I would like to point out that I am a big person when it comes to customer service. Not always will the customer be right or in a very good mood. Understandable. As your job as a customer service rep, you try the best you can to accommodate the prospect or client when it comes to dealing with a product that they have purchased. Correct? My father-in-law purchased a rental vehicle to use for a few days. He just moved to SC and has a TX drivers license. My husband and him drove from Elgin, SC to the airport (which is 45 Mins plus of a drive one way). Once they get there they find out that they needed a credit card in order to reserve the reservation. Again, understandable. My husband drives all the way back home and back to the rental place with a credit card to find out that not only do they need a CC but they needed his drivers license. He had his military ID and showed it but they would not accept it. At this point he was pretty upset as anyone would be. Trying to understand why his military ID would not be sufficient to use his own credit card to put down on the rental for a car that he was not even going to be using. Again being a customer service rep, there are several avenues that you can try and help a gentleman out. In refusal of the military ID, the lady was very point blank that they would not accept anything that he had. He got upset with her and then yet caused commotion (yet he should of held his temper) she said to him "I refuse to give YOU business". With this being said she did not indicate that she would not only not be giving my husband business (for a car that he was not renting) but our family as well. They both drove all the way home. Now the total of 3 round trips underway, I took my father-in-law to the rental place myself only to be told that she would not give service to "all of my family members". This part was not conveyed across initially or we would of just not drove all the way down there the first time. I was not privy to this conversation that she had with my husband. I was polite and had all the proper documentation that we needed at this point in time to get my father in laws rental vehicle. At this point, the customer service was not only horrible but was unable to communicate the correct information to the client/prospect.
