My fiancé and I began taking lessons with Jim earlier this year for our wedding. We bought 4 lessons and decided not to continue. He spent a good majority of each lesson talking our ears off unsolicited…about his jujitsu training or random inappropriate stories about women he’s dated. My fiancé had never danced before and just wanted the basics. We felt his teaching style was designed to get us to buy more and more lessons because we never made much process at a time, between all his talking, and his focus on technique, rather than just getting us to learn the steps first, then fine tune later. We didn’t look forward to our lessons and feel we wasted our money here unfortunately.

I work with Jim routinely to help maintain some of the fantastic quality he provides. This is an extremely high class venue. It’s so clean, beautifully designer and well cared for. Jim is a solid professional as well as a genuinely personable person. This business is the result of many years of his passion, hard work & a great taste for the arts. When my son in old enough to participate in extra curricular activities, this is where I’m taking him. Please consider using this business above other “options”.

Very professional, personable, & knowledgeable. My son and I had zero dance experience, took four lessons to prepare for his wedding, and felt very confident. I had no idea how well we did until I watched the video after the wedding. I recently attended another wedding and watched a bride and groom who had dance lessons somewhere else with a less than stellar result. I am so thankful for Blue Moon dance instructors. You all rock!!

Bluemoon Ballroom is the perfect venue for events and rehearsals! Very accommodating, they have everything you could need for events, including great sound and lighting! The ballroom is beautiful and we love getting to host our annual dance performances there, make dance films, and have our dance company rehearsals in the space. Truly a gem and a special venue to have in Columbia

Update to this dude's reply. You can change a story all you'd like brother, but the customer requested to dance (multiple times) -- as paying 100 buck for 45 minutes and dancing 15 minutes of that time is obnoxious. Customer is always correct, business 101, I can tell you I'd like to meditate for half the class, your job as an owner to adapt. Regardless of how much longer it may take to learn. Moral of story, the other business I suggested.. instead of this guy, you dance near 100% of the time. Like I said, GET YOUR MONEYS WORTH. Oh and the other suggested instructor is a competing dancer!Also-- the 'uncomfortable' comment is not accurate. In fact, anyone who'd like to see - I asked this dude to dance with BOTH my partner and myself, on seperate occassions, I have that on *video* as well. Again though, after saying it multiple times, dancing for 15% of the class together with your partner, just not worth the money.Our CURRENT instructor dances with my partner, and myself, seperately, every class.... just not the entire time =-)Lol, and i'm sorry to edit this review so much, but this guy is so full of sh**. His comment 'we dont allow that' referring to couples 'floundering' - 'not our policy', bahahhha.. I literaly have a text of this guy loosely saying to 'come back, you guys can dance together the whole time' .......... lol too much, too much. BrightYou can learn a lot by a personality by their comments. My initial review explained in detail, the value was not there when spending 15m dancing out of a 45m class. But he had to make it about someone else.... completely disregarding my value complaint. Lol, priceless.Also, spend few minutes researching this guy and youll find much more than value complaints =).Bought 4 Lessons. Ended up not pursuing for understandable reasons. Owner offered the first lesson free, and another free to try to get us to come back, we stopped after the second visit there. Long story short, he won't consider a refund after expressing we felt uncomfortable continuing. I understand policy, but should have some flexibility, even a partial would have been nice...*VALUE* - I felt it was just crazy expensive when you dance for maybe 10-15m (actually timed it on video) of the time with your partner. Much better places available where you'll dance 90% of the time with your partner, coached by an amazing instructor. I'd recommend Elite Ballroom Dance Academy in Columbia. Night/day difference. This is from experience. When you pay near $100 for a 45min lesson, get your $ worth, you should be dancing nearly the entire duration.Nice enough people here, but end of day, do your research - this was avoidable. Be sure when paying so much, you're getting the full experience. Once more, the recommended place above, my partner and I dance 40 out of the 45 minutes. After all, it is all about the experience with your partner, for the large majority of individuals.Positive-they were nice enough, building was nice.

What a great time! I went with my friend and have found my new hangout! I've always loved to dance but after a bad car accident in law school had been hesitant about lessons! Jim Williamson made my first ChaCha lesson so enjoyable and I'm looking forward to many more lessons and a new community of dancing friends!

Blue Moon Ball Room was one of the best experiences i ever had. Jim the owner was very very helpful. He had whatever i needed whenever i needed it. He is very flexible with you, and his main goal at the end of the day is just to make sure you are very happy. If you are looking for a place to have a party, a wedding reception, quince, etc, i highly recommend this place.

My husband and I had a private lesson with Eric and it was phenomenal! We worked through a veritable sampler platter of slow and fast and fun dances. He was patient, eloquent, and made the entire experience a blast! We'll be back for more lessons (on a smaller list of dances now that we've tried some out). And we can't wait to try a group class and party. The studio and restrooms were clean and welcoming. We met the owner Jim and he greeted us warmly. This is a lovely business and it shows through that both Eric and Jim are doing what they love.

The venue is beautiful, Jim the owner is awesome and Chef Kia and Kim and Kreative Blessings Catering is also truly blessed!!! I cannot wait to use this facility and all their services together in the future! Thank you all so much for such a wonderful delicious tasting today. We truly enjoyed everything!!

Jim was disorganized not remembering our inital appointment or when we showed up for our rescheduled inital appointment. He didn't seem to remember what we had done in previous lessons. His method of instructing is quite close to a riddle. He's a nice enough guy just not what we were looking for. Also, beware if you pay upfront there are no refunds.

Very nice venue to hold events. They have private and group dance classes. A great place for beginners to learn to dance and the advance who enjoy it. Everyone was friendly and patient.

The layout is very nice, and very spacious. I attended a wedding here and it turned out fantastic ! They have lighting at night as well in the rooms loved it
