I took Mr. Elliot’s concealed carry class and I can’t say enough positive things about it!! Mr. Elliot is a master at his craft, he is so caring, knowledgeable, helpful, and absolutely hilarious. We had wonderful classroom discussions as well as a successful trip to the range. If you have been thinking about taking any courses related to firearms, licenses, or safety classes, Stars and Stripes Firearms Training is your place. Thank you Mr. Elliot for a wonderful experience, I will definitely be back to further deepen the knowledge that you shared with me today!!

I just finished my NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting class with Stars and Stripes Firearms Training. The class and materials were perfect! Jim does an excellent job of breaking things down and making sure you fully understand what he is teaching. Jim is fantastic to have as an instructor and I could not have asked for a better experience. Thank you, Jim! Looking forward to the NRA RSO course with Jim in December. I know the class will be top notch as well!

This Google review is in reference to a class taken on 11-4. It was an outstanding and professionally taught NRA Basic of Pistol Shooting class. Jim is very knowledgeable. Being a retired patrolman I was embarrassed at how much I learned. I would recommend this class to anyone wanting to become more versed in the use of firearms.

I received my NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting certificate with Jim Elliott at Stars & Stripes. It was a wonderful class. I thought I already knew a lot, but boy was I wrong. Jim taught me so much, and I left feeling empowered with knowledge. Jim is a joy to be around. He loves the subject matter and quite obviously loves teaching it to others. I learned things I didn't expect to learn. For example, he had a unique way of showing me what stance works best for me personally. It worked! I did better at the range that day with my new stance. I was also given a high-quality booklet with everything I learned to take home. I've attended a variety of classes throughout my life, and Stars & Stripes is right up there at the top. Stars & Stripes has my highest recommendation.

I just completed a day of pistol safety training along with actual range practice with Jim. He was polite, friendly, and he knows his stuff. The actual hands on range experience was a real plus for me. I would recommend Jim and Stars and Stripes highly to anyone that wants thorough training.

My husband and I enjoyed our basic pistol training class. We learned so much and Jim kept our attention and made it enjoyable the entire. Jim taught us all about firearm safety and was able to tailor the class to meet our needs. We decided to take the class before we bought a handgun for our home. I’m so glad we did. Jim helped us pick out and try the hand gun that was the right fit for us. I strongly recommend Jim (Stars and Stripes Firearm training).

Jim is an excellent instructor and was very patient and took the time to answer all of my questions. I would recommend his courses to anyone - beginner or experienced. I plan to take another course soon!

Between February and April 2020, I've taken four NRA courses with Jim (Firearm Safety in the Home, Basic Pistol, Personal Protection in the Home, Personal Protection Outside the Home) and each one was better than the last. Jim is a consummate trainer, efficiently imparting the material, and more importantly, the understanding, while insuring a pleasant day through humor, good stories, and wit. Jim also has a healthy respect for safety (may have something to do with him having been an airline pilot), running the range exercises thoroughly and carefully. I could not imagine a higher quality experience and without any reservations I highly recommend any of Jim's courses, NRA or otherwise.

I wasn't sure what to expect, as the Basics of Pistol Shooting class that I took is the first formal class I have taken regarding firearms. Jim easily sets you at ease, and has a way of taking his vast knowledge and presenting it in a way that is easy to understand. That, coupled with the many things he has on hand for you to look at, touch and examine makes this a stellar learning experience! The range experience is also quite nice, without the hustle or rush of an indoor public range it is easy to take your time and feel confident in your shooting. He was also extraordinarily hospitable, providing lunch and beverages. I cannot recommend him enough, and look forward to taking more classes with him in the future.

As a unit commissioner with Scouts, and as a shot-gunner, I want to be available to coach Scouts initially through their Shotgun Merit Badge program and later through the Shooting Merit Badge. Scouts require that these two merit badge counselors be NRA certificated instructors in Shotgun and Rifle. I found Jim Elliott and it was a great find. Jim teaches a raft of NRA programs which include pistols, rifles, shotguns, reloading, range safety and other programs, like home defense. Just what I was looking for. The initial shotgun course was in his basement home in Tega Cay. Absolutely one of the best small classroom operations I have experienced. Worth a tour. He has great displays of ammunition, guns, training aids and actual guns. You just don't talk about things, you actually can touch them. A very fine set-up. Jim is a super instructor. Emphasis is on safety and applying what you learn to actual operation. You take weapons apart, compare ammunition, watch videos and, ultimately, as part of the training, go to a range and fire the guns. It was a very full day, which included a simple lunch and he drove us to and from the range. A very nice, sincere guy. I am very appreciative of his approach-ability and willingness to teach. I will most likely take other courses that he offers. If you need any type of fire arm training, give him a call. At a minimum he can recommend others, like him, that really care about what they are teaching.

Mr. Jim's knowledge and expertise is something that sets Stars & Stripes Firearms apart from the field. He was able to instruct my 5 year old in a manner that not only kept his attention, but also allowed him to retain important safety information about firearms that will set a foundation for my son for many years to come. Truth-be-told...I really enjoyed the youth training ;) Thanks for the experience!!
