Had to stop in to get the fur babies some bones so wanted to just get in and get out. With that being said, there was a line and a little wait, but it was ok. The people here in Surfside Beach are just amazingly nice so good conversation. The reason I wanted to do this review is because Once I did get to the checkout Jill was just the best very personable and efficient. Thanks Jill I appreciate good quality customer service..

The employee in there was very RUDE and nasty. I try to limit going there due to the unethical actions when I visit. I really wish the owners could see how their employees act..not a great reflection of their corporation.

On January 9th, 2023 I was discriminated against and belittled by an employee in front of many other customers based off of my appearance alone. I am a 26 year old college educated man who pays taxes in the Surfside area and I was made to feel as though I was the lowest of the low. I came in to help my mother who is older shop for a few things for her. Once we got to the cash register she got a pack of cigarettes as she is a smoker. I do not smoke. I was simply just standing behind helping her. She paid and asked me to help her with the bags as she is older and has trouble lifting them. I was immediately yelled and screamed at as I lifted the bag as if I were stealing items or some other illegal act. I was not asked but TOLD that I was under 21 and that I was not allowed to touch the bags of groceries. I was accosted and belittled based off of my appearance alone. The prejudice was vicious. I am a 26 year old man who is a little bit below average height for a man and was discriminated against because of how I looked to this cashier. I wasn’t even attempting to buy a tobacco product of any kind and to be talked to and disrespected for attempting to help my mother was unacceptable. It was like I was stealing in front of an employee when in reality was just trying to help my mother and did nothing wrong. The situation was handled completely wrong. You don’t do that and talk to people that way like I’m beneath a human being. In conclusion, I would highly recommend avoiding this Family Dollar and going to Dollar Tree next to it or a Dollar General instead, especially if you look a little different than every one else because you will be discriminated against thoroughly.

Gotta get rid of the shy-looking white girl with glasses. She is rude, unprofessional, and disrespectful. And to top things off, it's more important to her to stay on her cell phone, rather than be respectful and provide decent customer service. And why do this store continually close hours and hours before they're supoose to, claiming because their a/c is out. Its been like this for weeks now, and instead of investing in an HVAC guy to come fix the air, they close 6 hours early on a Saturday at 3pm, instead of staying open til 9. That's alot of business y'all are losing just because somebody doesn't want to work in cloudy, 80° degree weather. This has gone on for weeks. Please, instead of putting up a sign everyday saying we're closing early because the store isn't cold enough, and we don't want to work, why don't y'all call a heating and air guy to come fix the problem instead of closing early everyday, and prop the door open until he gets there. I haven't met a store manager that's willing to throw away all that money/business just because the a/c is messed up. If y'all stayed open longer than 4 hrs a day I'm sure y'all could afford to get your air fixed and sacrifice one day of working in moderate to warm weather. They sell fans for a reason, reasons like this. Guess nobody wants to work, but again, what manager would sign off and say it's ok we'll just close halfway through the day multiple times a week. That's not fixing your air, your business hours, or the fact that there's customers that still need to do their shopping at your store but can't because y'all won't stay open even long enough for people to conveniently get their shopping and errands run. I work in a warehouse with no a/c at all, but we use fans to make it through the day, and we would never ever just close business down and quit making money because it got a little warm inside the store. That's ridiculous
