Great friendly people work at the Sunset South Carolina Post Office. It is a "Manual" Post Office meaning that they do not have modern equipment, like they have to manually have to do the receipts and stickers for packages you send with tracking. Your receipt does not have a breakdown showing what town and state each tracking number goes to so if you mail multiple packages and need to give people their tracking numbers make sure you take pictures after they put the stickers on the packages. I've got a pile of tracking numbers and don't know which one belongs to which person.

This facility is NEVER open. I receive yellow notices in box but NO ONE is there during posted hours to retrieve. WTH Need a caring government employee to man this location.

We have been waiting several days for a package that was to be here 5 days ago(we can pick up instead of delivery, not a problem). The problem is that this location was closed because the main Pickens post office needed help, so the one person who runs this office was sent there, and no one was here to open this office. So our package has sat in Sunset waiting to be picked up. Even now, we don’t know if it’s open because no one answers the phone there even if they’re open.

This is a review regarding lack of communication and service. For some reason, my package was not delivered yesterday. I called and was told that it couldn’t be delivered and gave “reasons” why but none of the reasons matched up with the location in which I wanted it dropped off. I came by today, 7/21/21 to pick it up and then was told after one of the employees called the person that does the mailing that my package had been delivered. They said yesterday that I’d be at their post office for me to pick it up. I wasted gas driving out here. If you don’t wanna do your job the right way, don’t have a job at all! There was no excuse for it not being delivered yesterday. Do better!

folks who are saying this is a post office in the middle of nowhere have no idea that there are several very large neighborhoods within a few miles. If they're just driving along 11, they'll never see them since I suppose they don't have digital maps on their phones to look around and see who might be living nearby this tiny post office.. the next closest post office is a 40 mile round trip down to Pickens.

An iconic representation of US rural postal service for well over a century, Sunset Post Office, ZIP 29685, is located directly on the Cherokee Foothills Scenic Trail and an essential service to the area as well as a depot for transferal of products and services, providing incentives and fostering growth and investment of locally owned and managed businesses, optimizing the utilization of local assets, physical or otherwise, while serving as a local landmark since 1905. Incorrectly attributed by one reviewer as being "in the middle of nowhere", which is actually about 12 miles north, across the state line.

This post office will not deliver my packages to my house. Anything that doesn’t fit in the mailbox. They say it is because I have a dog. My dog is very friendly. I think it is because they have to drive up a long driveway, get out of the car walk up a little hill to the door. Plus most days I’m am there and when I’m not the dog is in the house!! I call bs

It's a post office in the middle of nowhere. Convenient for traveling folks who need to drop off a package, I suppose?
