“I’m a returning customer to this location. I’ve never really had any problems here. Staff has always been polite to my family and prices are pretty competitive. Reviewers complaining about low inventory should realize what’s going on across the country with the supply chains before they bash the Dollar General team that works there. Low inventory is a problem everywhere, not just at Sumter Dollar General.”

“I was greeted as soon as I entered the establishment I knew exactly what I was looking for did not need any assistance. The store was clean and it smelled Pleasant. The store had ample parking but they need to paint the lines in the parking lot again the lines on the parking spaces are worn out. But all is well at this establishment will return.”

“I had difficulty signing on to the Family Dollar website, and eventually left the store without my $5 savings. It frustrated me because I'm a teacher, buying out of pocket. I returned to my car, worked out the glitch, went back in and the very nice young man (Cyrus?) who witnessed my first failure, gave me a refund, rang up the items (again) and then I left, with my refund in hand. I appreciate his patience. Instead of leaving annoyed, I left happy, though I cost him several wasted minutes.”

Lots of very nice items for everything and everyone!Update on 03/01/2022The blonde worker decided to take her bad day out on an incident where some flags fell off the hanging side stand. My daughter and son had picked out 3 flags for their veteran father. My daughter was standing by the holder as it dumped out all of the flags. Now, nothing was broken, and my daughter was standing near it, but not touching it. Regardless, my children begin cleaning it up when the tall blonde lady huffs and puffs her way to us to inform us she would pick them all up. I wouldn't have thought twice about her rude face had she not been so rude towards my children wanting to help pick up the flags. Forevermore, as I am trying to inform her why the flags fell down, she rude states that she " has it!" Karma repaid her with the very small rectangular cardboard box fell behind her. As my children felt terrible about this, they ran to help her continue to pick up the flags in which she decided to be rude and express with what my children felt was her anger towards them in reminding them she would be getting the flags put up. My son wouldn't finish helping her. He doesn't comprehend not helping someone. So, as he helped her... I had to calm my daughter down for "upsetting this," worker and educating my daughter on displacement of emotions. That just because someone is rude to you doesn't mean you deserve it. I love this store, but this experience was frighteningly heartbreaking. If you can't handle retail.... Leave your job!”

“I stopped at the store on Hwy 15 N in Sumter, SC. It was real early morning January 5, 2022 & although I didn’t want to stop, I had no choice as my dogs were out of food. My husband had just passed away late the night before. I was a complete mess when I went in there & of course emotionally distraught. My mind was all over the place & there was no way to fight off the tears. I got to the counter to pay & told the young lady to please forgive me as I had just lost my husband. She stopped everything she was doing & ran out to me with open arms & a shoulder to cry on. She held me up when I couldn’t hold it together. She was so genuinely compassionate & caring. She even walked me to the car & gave me a final hug goodbye. I hope you will please recognize this young lady. I found out her name is Brittany & she is no longer at this store but has moved to another store. She is so sweet & caring. You really have a winner with this employee! ?”
