Employees were great, you had what I needed & at a fair price… but…
your charging me $0.10 for a thin plastic bag is a great failure on your marketing team. Even though my visits have mostly been good, the charge for a bag causes me to leave the store upset, as well as to attempt to carry my purchases to the car without dropping them. Though I speak to many, I do not sing your company’s praises. I spend much, or rather, I spent much at Petco & to understand it’s an additional dime if I want a very thin plastic bag to be able to safely carry what I’ve purchased is incredible. It’s not the ten cents… it’s the principle of having to pay for the bag that will provide a safe way to bring your products, purchased from your store, to my home. Even the secondhand or thrift shops provide the bag to carry purchases! I have talked to other customers within the store, as well as some employees and I haven’t found one yet that disagrees with this opinion. One employee told me that they hear the same thing from customers every single day. In today’s economy with so many using Amazon (which incorporates the price of delivery within the cost of the merchandise) I would think you should lean toward a better way to receive your dimes. Unless this charge is revoked, I’m sure there’s another pet supply store that will appreciate my business.
Thank you

Easy access and usually have what I need in a pinch. Best to head out the Home Depot side when leaving so you don't fight traffic on Main Street.

I walked in for a nail trim for my furbaby and they were able to accommodate our needs. Everyone was nice and kind and my girl was very comfortable with the groomer.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Animals for sale all seemed happy and healthy from the fish to lizards and the parakeets.
Store was clean and well organized but the front door area where the carts are smelled terrible, though.

It was ok, nothing special yet nothing bad. Service was a little on the shy side but not terrible.

The grooming salon did a great job. Most places leave my dog a little wet around the neck, but not here!

It's always a hassle to get service, but I suspect they just overwork the few employees that are there at any given time. We purchased a rodent and they advised us that if it displayed signs of "wet tail" ie, diarrhea, bring it back ASAP. Having never had an animal with that condition, or even heard of it, I didnt think much of it.That animal immediately showed signs of wet tail so we brought it back and got another, which immediately displayed the same symptoms. We've had many hamsters, mice, guinea pigs, and rats over the years and have never had one with this condition, aquired from anywhere, ever. It really seems to be a problem that the Summerville Petco needs to get a handle on. We were advised that since we got a refund on the first rodent, the second wouldn't come with any guarantees...maybe they should focus morn on supplying healthy animals so they dont have to go out of their way to belittle customers for trading in a creature they sold and obviously knew was ill for another that they knew was ill?!
