As an educator, I look for at least the basics of proper caring and learning for a child. This center is inconsistent with teacher training. Very few have any type of studying of education which is important on developing strategies for various learning and growing babies. Teachers would write inaccurate information on his daily report sheet. They would say he ate his breakfast and when I would pick my son up, his breakfast would still be in the bag. Teachers would get upset when you ask for details due to them being very vague or inaccurate on report. Staff was very inconsistent on knowledge of injuries or accidents. I would typically have to ask or call back to inquire about any new bumps or scrapes. Teachers have gotten rude when notified of parent concern. As for safety and security, I was very concerned with the openness. It is very easy to just walk due to not having any locked doors. Director was pleasant but no accountability for workers. Too often has his items, cups, and things have been misplaced or sent home with the wrong kid. Center is outdated on security, equipment and methods.

Absolutely the worst ever experience of customer service the lady penny is so rude can not believe she works with small children if she speaks to grown people the way she spoke to me I can only imagine how she treats kids

As our time with Oakbrook is coming to an end with my daughter starting Kindergarten in August, I cannot help but get a little emotional. I first walked into Oakbrook absolutely beside myself 9 years ago with my 6 week old for his very first day. I was met with the most genuine smiles, hugs, care, and kindness/understanding of being a new mom who was absolutely devastated on leaving her newborn to return to work. They never made me feel unwelcome in calling to check on him and provided the best of updates. He always came home happy and the staff very quickly became like family. When we moved across town and I had to pull him at 2.5 , he talked about missing his teachers and Ms. Penny every day for about a year - haha. When we decided to return to this side of town a few years ago, I couldn't call Oakbrook fast enough praying to get my daughter a spot. I was elated when I was called and told she could start. Walking back into those halls just felt like home. She was a bit more shy than my son however each staff member immediately jumped into action to make her feel welcome and at ease. What she has learned at Oakbrook over the past 2 years from her teachers is immeasurable. Their preschool program is absolutely fantastic and will make your child more than ready for Kindergarten and well adjusted to a curriculum schedule. If you are looking for somewhere you can fully trust, that will love your child like their own, and work with them to be most ready for school - Oakbrook is the place to be. I give my HIGHEST recommendation!

I am extremely disappointed with our experience at Oakbrook.Today was my daughters' first day and it didn't last more than 3 hours before I get a call from the school stating that they won't be able to accommodate my oldest daughter's needs. I was told that I should have asked.. lol. Which in hindsight, I wish I did, and will be doing as I desperately search for a new center. I understand that each center may or may not be able to accommodate certain needs (such as pull-up/diaper changes and/or potty training toddlers). I also feel that this just means that Oakbrook wasn't the right school for my girls. However, I feel that this should have been mentioned BEFORE I paid almost $200 in registration fees and BEFORE I pulled my daughters from their previous daycare losing our "spot", which is extremely hard to come by. Not to mention what this means for our household and how we are left to just figure it out. The registration paperwork specifically asks whether or not your child is wearing diapers, pull-ups, etc. Additionally, it asks whether or not your child has accidents during nap time. I thought nothing of checking of the space that states that both my daughters wear pull-ups and are not potty-trained and sending them to Oakbrook with diapers and wipes, which isn't covered in their tuition (for parents seeking that info). So, with that being said.. I'm here to let other parents know, since I wasn't informed, that if your 3 year old or 4 year old child is not potty trained, Oakbrook can't accommodate those needs.. even if your child is special needs, which they state as "special problems" on their registration paperwork.

This is the best child care center I have ever taken my son to. This year he started the 4k program and I have seen amazing improvements since he started with OCDC back in December! I love all of the staff and the facility is always so clean. Great communication and caring staff!

My daughter is going to this preschool plus daycare from August and we have a awesome experience. For someone who just moved to a different country with different language, culture etc this place literally helped my kid to grow that now she loves the place so much that she doesn’t want to come home. We sincerely thank all the teachers and staff for taking so good care and making us tension free at all.

My family and I had a horrible experience with this day care. They did not even allow my daughter to be there a full week before they kicked her out of the daycare. I will admit that that my child is very energetic just like every other three-year-old.. But we honestly think that she was kicked out of there due to the color of her skin. From the first day there were complaints about her being energetic and not able to fit the criteria of their daycare.. It's unfortunate in this day and time people are judging children that they don't even know. I don't advise anyone to put their child in this daycare especially if they are African American. We honestly feel that our child was targeted and not given a fair chance. Luckily we found daycare that is willing to love her for who who she is and is giving her a fair chance to meet her where she is.

My son attended from 2-5 years old. Wonderful curriculum for each age group. Teachers are phenomenal! Definitely got my son ready for public school and tested in GATE classes.

Had a lengthy review on here about the director and the staff that I posted three years ago. Appears to have been deleted… I came back actually hoping that the school may have changed for the better. Sadly more reviews of the same issues my wife and I experienced with the staff here. Truly disheartening that changes have not been made. Pulled our son out three years ago (when he was 4) and sent him to the La Petite around the corner where he experience none of the issues that he experienced here. They actually taught him, redirected him when he had an outburst like all kids do, and he entered normal school with no issues.Guess I’ll check back in another three years and see if it is time to delete my one star review…. I really hope so…

My daughter attended OCDC for a year and we were extremely pleased with our experience! As a parent who was a preschool teacher for 5 years, this facility checks all the right boxes! Lesson plans are sent home weekly with reminders, keeping parents informed on themes and what's coming up. With Covid, the facility did everything within their power to stay open by closing individual classrooms instead of the entire school. Vacation weeks are given after attending long enough. I was able to call or email with timely responses! I would recommend this preschool for anyone looking in the Summerville area!

They reason is they will NOT take kids that are NOT 100% potty trained. There is nothing else to say, to suggest to offer that service, especially post Covid...

One of the most significant things a working parent can hope for is not having to worry about their kids while they are away at work. I sent my children to Oakbrook for 7 years and never worried if we were in the right place. Oakbrook is a caring environment where both my kids learned to love school and transitioning to kindergarten has been a breeze!

Unprofessional is an understatement for the director, assistant director and several other teachers we came in contact with. They appeared to be inconvenienced by our desire to be engaged in our child’s care and did not appreciate us advocating for our child as his mother and father. The attitude, condescension, and disgust we experienced were uncalled for and unprofessional and we can’t imagine continuing to send our child to a “development” center that doesn’t appreciate that every child is not the same. It became clear that what is actually normal for a 3 year old boy is not what the center deems normal and from that point our child was isolated. Personality, energy and imagination are certainly not appreciated. As teachers in a “development center” with 10-20+ years of experience, seems to me those characteristics could be channeled in a way that does not include spanking or hitting. The teacher (NOT the teachers aid) for the younger 3’s class is two faced and disingenuous as are the rest of the front office staff including the person who is in charge of the curriculum. It seems they run off any teachers who are happy to collaborate with parents. This might explain the turnover amongst the teachers in this facility. Such an unfortunate and unnecessary experience for our child and us as parents.

Oakbrook Child Development Center is such an amazing place. It has a warm and welcoming environment that puts you at ease when dropping your little ones off. All the ladies at the front office and all the teaches are the best! They loved our son like he was their own. The teachers are patient and take the time to really know each student. They were always there to help in any way and truly love what they do. Our son absolutely loved going everyday and always had so many fun things to share about each day. During his time at OCDC he learned his letters and numbers, all about art, nature, music, and they even assisted in potty training when he started in the 2’s classroom. We were so happy to have our son there and would highly recommend it to any parents looking for a organized and caring environment.

I have had a great experience with my daughters care. They send lesson plans evrey week of what they are teaching, staff is very personable and sweet and school is very clean, and my daughter loves going there. I’m so glad I made the decision to put her in oakbrook Cdc
