UPDATE- 01/04/2021- My oil painting was received much to my surprise today and I was shocked to find out that it was delivered via UPS. Oddly the painting was addressed to my middle name when I had previously notified Kathleen that they were referencing my middle name instead of my actual (first) name (that I do go by). I also recall the conversation that I had with Kathleen during the initial purchase and she said we use a “shipper”, as I was under the assumption it would have been sent another method with better “care.” I guess it was my ignorance for not prompting for further clarification. Had I known the painting was being sent via UPS or FEDEX, I would have hand carried it out of the gallery. This was my first artwork purchase and I am disappointed that the original, oil painting was sent via the method it was, with no prior notification sent to me that the item was being shipped and/or the tracking number given...I think I would have spent my money elsewhere.
In all of my years coming to Sullivan’s Island, I never had the opportunity to check out this art gallery. I stopped in and was greeted by Kathleen and told where in the gallery I could find various types of artwork. I love Lowcountry art especially when it captures the brilliant colors of the sky over the marsh or from a familiar water view. I fell in love with an original oil painting by local artist, Douglas Grier. He captures in his artwork the beautiful scenery around the Charleston area and it is so detailed, it makes you feel like you are standing there in the scene itself. The painting I chose, just draws you in (and depending on what the lighting is when you are looking at
the painting) the colors in the sky look different from varying angles. You are given the option to hand carry your artwork purchase and/or have it shipped. There is also handmade jewelry, ornaments and other great finds sold. Shop local and support the artists!

My favorite place to shop on Sullivan’s Island! The selection is fantastic, the prices are reasonable, and the staff is phenomenal! I look forward to stopping in each time we visit the island.

Really fun gallery! Fantastic artists and, imo, reasonably priced. Parking is an issue, so be prepared to walk. Also, it's crowded, so maybe not a good place to visit with kids. Will 100% be visiting again.

What a great gallery full of fun original works of art. Paintings and collages for the walls, pottery, jewelry and even sculpture. It is truly an amazing mix of regional artists and worth the trip.

When visiting the Charleston area, be sure to drive over to Sullivan’s Island. Include SANDPIPER GALLERY on your “to-do” list. The owner showcases fine art & craft, ranging from coastal scenes, historic charm, and contemporary flare. The gallery is well-stocked, and has a good flow. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. You will leave with a treasure!

Every year, we enjoy visiting the galleries in the Charleston area, and our favorite stop is Sandpiper Gallery. Over the years, we have purchased the majority of our paintings there, and most enjoy following the careers of the artists they feature. They have a keen eye for talent on the rise. In my opinion, purchasing art at Sandpiper is a worthy investment! They also sell lots of handcrafted gifts and jewelry. It is the one gallery that our children actually enjoy visiting. There are so many beautiful things to look at, and it is always a treat! It is also conveniently located near the beach, if you don’t feel like going into Charleston.
