“Fort Moultrie is a National Park site on picturesque Sullivan's Island, overlooking Charleston Harbor. Together with Fort Sumpter, Moultrie and its cannons defended Charleston before and during the American Civil War. Decommissioned as a coastal defense in 1947, Moultrie sits today behind a sand redoubt and bears a silent witness to history going back to the American Revolution. The history buff in me enjoyed seeing the fortifications, cannons, artifacts, and exhibits that tell Moultrie's story. Views across Charleston Harbor from here are terrific. There's an admission fee to enter the fort; I used my NP Senior Pass.”

“Independent bookstores are a treasure celebrating the importance of reading and literary education. They are the backbone for humanity and offer a safe haven of dialogue, conversation and reflection. Buxton is no different, but they take it step beyond. Buxton Books is a celebration of the value and importance of reading and writing through the lens of local authors throughout the Lowcountry. Not only do they do author events, they feature them live on Instagram live so that if you are not able to attend or do not live near downtown Charleston, you can still take part. We love that. The fine selection, perfect lower King Street location and elegance make for a charming experience. We love to celebrate Buxton Books!!!”

“Blind Date with a Book! Genius. Karen- Anne (my apologies if I misspelled) is the owner and she is as precious as can be. She is so kind. Her bookstore is the cutest, coziest bookstore I’ve ever been in. It feels like home. The other young woman working (Addison and I’m sorry if I misspelled) was so sweet and very knowledgeable. This bookstore is a MUST visit. Thank you for your hospitality. We’ll see you again!”

“My kids had finished all the French books from the local library and I tried to find French books online. And I found this place! There is always something new and my kids really enjoy most of the books I get for them. All the books were new and of a good quality. A few times I had questions, I was assisted promptly. My orders always arrived within a few days. And they have a good points system.”

“If you want to get a nice souvenir for someone and support the lovely city of Charleston, this is the place to do it! I bought a Brackish bracelet for my wife here and she liked how unique it was. You can't get something like this anywhere else. The bracelet I chose was exclusively made for Preservation Society of Charleston. If I'm ever back here, I'll probably have to pick up one of the awesome Brackish bowties or other fun item here.”

“What an amazing bookstore! Look, I'm not a local so I don't have regular use of this store, but it doesn't keep me from wishing that I did. I was overwhelmed (in a good way) at their selection of books. I love the idea of upcycling/recycling books and borrowing pre-loved books. You are bound to find something here... I wish I had more time to browse but I feel like you could be in here for hours”
