Do not use South State Bank. They are very strict! They will refuse to cash checks. If you have any fraudulent activity occur on your bank account, they will close your account and ban you from the bank. There are better banks around that will be glad to help you out. I refuse to have an account with South State.

Wonderful helpful staff. The customer service is excellent. I have not had one problem with my checking accounts. I'm really loving this bank.

I opened my account in Leland NC. I was happy to discover a branch here in Ridgeland when I moved here due to my work.Sadly, the customer service at the branch in NC was not to be found in the Ridgeland branch.I found a house that I was interested in purchasing, so I went to the bank. I was told to call a person in Beaufort who handled mortgage loans. I contacted the person and received less than personable service. That interaction and an unpleasant visit to the drive in tellers made the decision for me to close my account. (When your drive in speakers are not working, laughing at a customer is not the best reaction. When customers are waiting in line-put down your phone. Carrying on personal conversations with other tellers instead of paying attention to the transaction and customer in front of you is not good customer service). I found a very friendly, helpful bank which makes me feel appreciated as a customer-not an inconvenience.

There is a teller at the window at this location who doesn't know how to speak to customers professionally! I have been coming here for years but I will go to another location!

The drive through is ridiculous 20 minutes sitting in line and only one car has left! You have got to do better it should not take this long for each transaction in the drive through.

Visiting in town and needed change to wash clothes. Forget trying to get change at this bank. No help, didn't care. You must have an account with them or your just out of luck.

Tellers at the drive through have made errors multiple times. They don't greet you and when I told them twice that I was cashing the check they deposited the checks instead and then I had to wait an additional 10 minutes to correct the transaction. They have limited hours and you can not transact bank business efficiently.

This review is more for a specific person than the bank as a whole. I was having trouble tracking down a tax form and I called the bank. My local office must have had their phones forwarded because I got Cherry at the Ridgeland location. I had never met her and, quite honestly, she probably had no real incentive to help me, but she did. She promised me she'd get back to me by the end of the day (this was shortly after 3:00 pm when we talked). I was not optimistic. She surprised me by calling back within 10 minutes or so letting me know she had found my form. She told me she'd email it to me within 5 minutes. Again, I was holding my breathe. She delivered. I got the form emailed immediately. I really appreciate Cherry. It's unfortunate that I've come to expect from larger businesses that an out of town rep will just ignore my requests for help, but Cherry did the opposite. She went out of her way to help me out even though I'll probably never set foot in her branch and I really appreciate that!! Thank you Cherry!
