I was looking for a bead shop near Anderson SC so I went online to search. Based on the pictures online and their website, The Mercantile looked like the place to go. My husband and I drove there to check it out. What a disappointment! There wasn't a bead or bead supply in sight. There were a lot of things for kids, homemade soaps and some pre-made jewelry. When I asked the woman behind the counter where the beads were, she told me that they were "in boxes in the back", and that they only bring them out for classes. She also said that the beads hadn't been on the shelves for about 1 1/2 years. Really?!? I suggested that she update the website. She looked at me and scoffed "yeah, in my spare time". Wow! Lesson learned. Guess I will call the next place before I go check it out.
