It shouldn't be this difficult to find a truck rental place that provides good customer service.

I have been renting Penske trucks since 1985. My husband is in the military and even tho they use movers I always liked to move ourselves. Sure there have been delays, no more than you could with any other trucking company BUT Penske always makes it up to you and the employees have patience when customers don't. They are the best to rent from and we will always stay a loyal Penske truck rental customer!!! We have moved 45 times in 36 years...Hopefully this last time is it??.

Had two different reservations one got pushed back 5 hrs and the second there was no truck. Than went for my 3rd reservation the price tripled. I'll never use or recommend Penske for any move again.

I am less than impressed with Penske truck rental. My husband and chose them first for our move from Minnesota to South Carolina. We booked the truck months in advance and chose the company because they were cheaper than Uhaul (you get what you pay for I soon came to find out). The truck was delayed by 3-4 hours leaving us to rush our move to be sure we were out of our apartment on time. Penske gave us a discount for our troubles, which was nice but did not make up for the stress we experienced last minute. We chose Penske again for our move from South Carolina to Indiana (less than 6 months later) for the same reason. We figured our first experience was fluke and gave them a second chance. When I went to pick up the truck I was informed that the only truck they had, that I was supposed to be receiving, had not been checked in properly (as in locked) and a homeless person was staying in it. The person had used the cab as their personal toilet making it impossible to drive. We ended up finding another truck 20 minutes away that was 4’ larger than what we had rented. Penske gave us a significant discount on our rental and an extra day, but the truck rented was much too big for what we were moving, took diesel instead of gas (adding an expense we had not expected), and delayed our movers. The staff at the facilities we rented from seemed well intentioned but clueless which made the experience all the more stressful and drawn out. I will not be using Penske again and warn everyone that I know to do the same. Making a mistake is one thing, but for the mistakes to be as back to back as they were leaves me to question the quality of service.

Do yourself a huge favor, just go to uhaul. If you must go, avoid the Home Depot locations.

I have used other rental companies before and had no problem but Penske had a higher star rating so I thought I would give them a try. BIG MISTAKE!!!! Apparently the place we rented the truck from doesn't open at the same time from one day to the next. We picked the truck up at 7am on a Saturday and brought it back Sunday at 7am so that we wouldn't get charged an extra day. However, the Home Depot we rented the truck from did not open until 8am on Sundays so we parked the truck where it was supposed to go and put paperwork and keys in an afterhours drop box. It clearly stats on my receipt that the “actual return date†was the day I dropped it off but for some reason they charged me for 2 days. To make matters worse, I realized that at some point during the booking process the fee was raised from $29.99 to $37.99. I remember bc uhaul was $19.99 but had a higher per mile rate so after doing some calculations I decided to go with Penske. It was only after we have moved that I realized that there is something shady about this company and I will never use them again.

After my reservation with uHual was unfulfilled, I stopped in to see if I could rent a Penske truck on short notice. Dylan was very helpful and had me in a truck very promptly. I will be renting from here again
