One would expect a metropolitan area the size of the Charleston region to have a nice, modern mall with well-known and desirable retailers. Northwoods Mall is definitely not that. Located in North Charleston, built in 1972 and having a tenant mix that is VERY low-end and budget oriented, the mall definitely lacks appeal on all levels. The Belk and Dillard’s stores are only one story and 1/3rd of the size of their much larger, nicer and more upscale counterparts at Citadel Mall in Charleston. Don’t make a special trip or go out of your way to visit Northwoods Mall. While it has very few vacancies, the tenant roster is dreadful and caters to teens, hip hop crowds and overweight women. There are definitely no classy or higher-end designer oriented stores here. Very disappointing and a huge let down! ??

I definitely wouldn’t make a special trip to visit this North Charleston mall. It has the only JCPenney in the region and it’s the only two-story department store in the mall. Belk, Burlington & Dillard’s are all one story. The in-line stores are typical mall fare, none of which are high-end or unique. While the mall is at 99% occupancy I’d rather visit Citadel Mall in Charleston because it has the nicest and largest Belk and Dillard’s in the region. Both are two-story, well over two times larger and carry better merchandise. Of the department stores at Northwoods, Dillard’s is definitely the nicer among the anchors. Northwoods Mall is also well-known for incidents of violence, thefts, fights and shootings. At times large groups tend to roam the mall and leave me with a very uneasy feeling. You’d definitely expect a metro area the size of Charleston/North Charleston to have much nicer malls and far better shopping.

With the experience that I had here, I will NOT be coming back. Me and my boyfriend went to this store to look for some shoes for a Christmas gift for my dad when we over heard two employee assuming that my boyfriend was going to shoplift just because he was wearing a face mask. These same two employees proceeded to follow us around the store while passing a ball back and forth and rough housing. At one point, the ball almost hit me. We still bought the shoes, however, will not be back.

Good location; only missing watches. I'll certainly pop into any Palmetto moon though to check out. If only the Vineyard Vines items ever went on sale...
