My wife loves this place and has to make a shopping trip here every time we are in town. Now they’ve added clothes as well.

It is a good place to spend some time. Much of the merchandise is trite beach stuff, but I did find some nice items interspersed.

I used to really enjoy visiting the Old Time Pottery Surfside location every time we came on vacation. This past visit will probably be my last one though. The changes in the store are extremely disappointing. The store used to be full of a lot of good quality and interesting home decor and accessories. However, the chain was supposedly bought out by Gabe's and is now morphing into something awful. They've started filling the aisles with cheapo shoes, purses, clothing, etc. Trash merchandise, in my opinion. The cashiers didn't even want to wrap my pottery purchases like they always used to do to keep them from clanging against each other in the bag. They said "Gabe's doesn't wrap". They finally did after I insisted, but they huffed and puffed. Not a great experience. Sad because I used to love that store.

Buyer beware!!! I bought some dishes to keep in my RV and was not familiar with "melamine" dinnerware. After doing some research, I found out melamine is a toxin that can release formaldehyde, cause kidney failure, high blood pressure, and even death in severe cases of exposure to name a few. Understanding "All Sales Were Final," I went back to the store to attempt to get a refund or even a store credit on these items. The store manager, a middle-aged, heavier set, white male refused to listen to me and pointed at the "All Sales Final" signs in the store. I acknowledged to him that I saw them and again tried to explain the hazards of this dinnerware. He then sarcastically stated, "Everything is on the internet," asked for my receipt, and circled the bottom of my receipt where it says, "All Sales Final" with a thick, black magic marker while making the comment that the receipt was a "legal document," HE was in charge of the store's liquidation, and all sales were final. Another employee, Holly, was standing beside the manager and wanted to argue with me that if the item was a hazard, it wouldn't be allowed to be sold. She then said if I had an issue with it, I needed to contact the manufacturer. Arguing with a customer about something you know nothing about is very immature and very unprofessional in my opinion.
I will be contacting the manufacturer and I've called Gabe's home office. I sincerely hope when Gabe's takes over this location, they will find better managers who know how to talk, treat, and listen to their customers instead of treating them so disrespectfully. I'm a local who visited this location often, but will NEVER shop there again as long as the current "management" is there. They have a lot to learn and a long way to go to become leaders.

I’ve never had to write a review before until now. The customer service here is completely awful. After looking through multiple bar stools this was the only one we could find without complete tears on the cushions although it was still damaged on the bottom and visible from the front. When we went up to the register we simply asked if we could get a discount for the noticeable damage. The cashier told us no they did not give out discounts for anything damaged. Only to have a cashier from another line inform us that they do. Once the manager came over to “assess” it she told us it was on the bottom so it didn’t matter. After going back and forth with her for awhile she finally took 10% off and claimed it was for “customer satisfaction” although there was very clearly a damaged goods option. Both had terrible attitudes during the whole process.

How do you buy clothes if you can't try one. You can't return. Customer service was very rude that's just too bad I was told. Won't shop there anymore

The shopping is amazing, you name it they have it ! The prices are decent too ! Unfortunately there's no service help , the manager is very rude and I would even go as far to say nasty ! I frequent the store often and excused it in the past but tonight I let her know I won't accept it anymore. Was trying to buy a Christmas , but the one I wanted didn't have a description tag on it , I said the one I want doesn't have a tag on it , before I finished she rudely says EVERY TREE HAS A PRICE TAG ON IT ! Will not go into any more detail , just wanted to express so when I get in touch with corporate, I have something to fall back on !
