Been with this bank now about a month and they have held 2 of my deposits for 7 days to clear while allowing others to clear right away. Had to call to get then released and they're payroll checks!?!? Never experienced this with any other banks. Not good if you need to pay bills. There's no way to cancel that deposit once it's submitted either. Might need to find another bank.

After having a horrible experience with their other bank a mile away, these guys took care of me!! I received tremendous amount of care, kindness, and compassion. The ladies up front, Lynette, Shakira, and Teresa, absolutely made my whole day!! The world needs more people like them. They all deserve raises!! If you need a bank that treats you like family and is just amazing overall, come here ?

Don't bother trying to call the number listed for this location, they won't answer. Don't bother trying to go in, they aren't open. Don't bother waiting in line outside, they won't be able to help you. Such a enormous waste of my time.

Always very friendly and fast customer service, inside or at the drive-thru. We've opened new savings accounts and worked with a mortgage loan officer in this branch and were always extremely satisfied.

This review is about Molly at the Rivers Avenue branch specifically. She is by far the most professional and helpful banking employee I have ever dealt with. I have had a South State account since back when it was First Federal, and when I deposited an insurance check for a totaled car I was told the check would be held for a week. I needed that money to use on new car, and was told by someone on the phone in corporate that they couldn't take that hold off - I would need to speak to the branch manager. Molly was absolutely amazing - listened to my problem and had it resolved by the next morning first thing. She truly understands that customers are unique and each one should be handled as an individual. Kudos to great customer service!!!

I visited the Hwy 17 location and needed something notarized. Eileen Thames refused to do it because I wasn't personally a member of the branch, but my daughter had an account we had set up for her since college. If this is the policy of the bank it is incongruent with the notary laws of the state and an unnecessary hardship for the citizens.

Went to open a new account. Didn't take a long time though. But I got a call in an hour to come back and sign another form they forgot. Naturally, rushed back in to be told it was not necessary. Such a wonderful waste of my time. They need to better train their employees.

I just had the most incredible customer service from Ash at this bank branch. He went way above and beyond to help me fix a mistake in a transaction. I very much appreciate you Ash! If you need a banker, go to the Bell Hall branch of South State Bank in Mount Pleasant, SC and ask for him. You won't be disappointed! And....thank you Ash!

Walking toward my former bank, First Federal -- something just didn't look as I remember it to look. Enter South State that absorbed First Fed and as a former customer turned new customer, the treatment received was fantastic. Sitting in one of those little side offices, I met with a wonderfully professional associate that helped me out with a few fees I sort of ignored. (so they don't just magically go away if you keep ignoring them?) I plunked down a fist full of cash to open up a new account -- security questions were many but the more I fielded, the more secure I felt about my money. A great experience from start to finish.

I come to this bank a few times a week to make deposits and they are pretty friendly and quick here.
