REI Mount Pleasant is a great stop to make!! The REI staples, friendly & always helpful staff to chat with and ask questions of! I enjoy their customer service, knowledge of sales and timing…. they’re so helpful! Cute area for lunch or pilates, etc! It may be a little smaller than some other locations but worth a peek in if you like REI or are in the market for outdoor activities/gear!! Their quality and guarantees are stood behind which I find invaluable!! Thanks staff & management, was in Friday & likely stopping in today.

This is a great REI location with great people!! Melissa and Dave were incredibly helpful and customer focused. I am a new member and REI has gained a loyal customer for life because of these two. I will continue to shop at this REI in confidence of quality gear and fantastic service.

The experience of shopping here led me to another wonderful local store. If you want something they sell and it isn't in the store then I guess too bad. Called a competitor and they ordered what I wanted in the color I wanted at a discount. So, I bought more stuff when I went to pick it up. That's how retail works. It feels like you're getting ripped off when you make a purchase at REI.

Place is dope. My happy place. Unfortunately, I’m not a zillionaire so I only get a few energy bars when I’m in there. But my kids and I wander around and try to give off the vibe that we belong there, and we’re wealthy. I don’t know why I do this, I just do. My wife actually did insist we get a bicycle there for our 4 year old, $320 smackeroos, for a 4 year old! I have to admit it’s dope tho. Flat red color and called a Co-op? Or something like that. I guess it’s the REI brand. I walk around the neighborhood with him riding it and pretend I’m wealthy as well.

My family and I are no strangers to shopping at REI. This review is specifically about the service we received at the Mt Pleasant store. A few years ago, I got a pair of REI branded trekking poles. Recently, we wanted to adjust the wrist strap and it was absolutely stuck. Several people tried without luck. So we popped in to the store. There were a few more "sword in the stone" type attempts to fix the strap when Melissa (Sales Manager) found Jack, a tech in the bicycle department. Jack figured out how to reset the strap mechanism, releasing the jam. Not only that, he showed us exactly what he did so we could self support in the future (this was definitely not a trick shown in online videos). Before sending us on our way, Jack took one more chance to make sure the straps would be as comfortable as possible. The poles were definitely out of the return period, so we were especially appreciative of their efforts to help. Great service - and trekking poles we will continue using for many years.

I love REI and of all of the stores I've been to, this is a nice one. It's definitely not the largest, but they do well with what they have. The employees are nice and helpful.
My largest complaint is the Resupply section of the store. This location has by far the worst pricing out of any store I've ever seen. There are routinely items with major issues or defects that are listed for the minimum discount. It's to the point that most items are worth just waiting for the yearly 20% coupon and not having to deal with the issue.
For example, there's a tent there right now with a tear along a seam on the floor. That's a major issue in one of the two most important points for the tent to be waterproof. That tent is listed for 25% off. It's a $400 tent listed for $300. If I was to buy it from the Resupply I would be saving $20 over buying it new and using the yearly 20% coupon. And, on top of that I lose the ability to return it if needed, I still have to purchase the stuff to fix the tent and then hope that my repair would work well enough to use. It just doesn't make sense and it defeats the purpose of having a used gear section.

I have never had such a wonderful retail experience in my life. Help from experts made my time at REI in Mt Pleasant a breeze. Everyone was very willing to help us out. Store was very clean. Large, single, all-gendered bathrooms too.

The staff tried to scam me out of $20 when I came with a return. They ignored what the receipt said and hoped I wouldn’t notice. When I did notice they tried to get me to leave the store. When they eventually learned that they couldn’t bully me like that, they finally gave me my money back. Be careful with these people!

Engaging with knowledgeable staff makes all the difference. I had a great experience working with Melissa, Ed, and Brian comparing, selecting, and purchasing lightweight backpacking and camping gear. It's best to get advice from people who have done the same hikes and personally own the gear that I'm looking at. I've been an REI member for many many years for this very reason, and glad that we have one in Mt Pleasant.
