I tried to run in at 6:58 to grab one thing (they close at 7) and as I opened the door and said “one more?” the man working pulled the door shut on me and locked it when there were still other customers in the store. I would have been in and out in 30 seconds. I understand they were getting ready to close but he could have been a lot more polite about it. Extremely rude.

My partner and I visited O'Neill Spirits today to pick up some whiskey and find some inspiration for Christmas cocktails. We were asked if we needed help when we walked in, which at first seemed helpful and friendly. We picked up a bottle, and continued to look around the store. The cashier insisted he would "hold onto the bottle for us" while we continued shopping, and took it to the front register. Rather than picking up a few more bottles, we decided it was time for us to check out and leave. When my partner went to pay, he immediately presented the cashier with his ID to avoid any questions. Then, the cashier commented upon his age and his appearance, which felt like an implication that he did not believe that we truly were old enough to legally purchase alcohol. We are in our late 20s. Rather than commenting on our age and appearance, he could have just scanned our IDs to verify this information! There was no need to make quips about our age. This is the second time we shopped here, and were met with skepticism and hostility. It made us feel like we were suspects, rather than customers. It made for a very uncomfortable experience, and we won't be returning. If its policy to check everyone's age, just scan their IDs. We wouldn't expect them to question or comment upon an older person's age, so please refrain from making comments to younger people with verifiable IDs.

The lady I always see here is very pleasant, however that is not the case with every employee I’ve met in O’Neill’s Spirits. I’ve come in there multiple times and noticed that the price on my receipt is different than the price advertised on their shelves. It’s usually a $0.35-$0.65 difference per item.
I finally noticed that the “Cash Price” is what’s advertised on the price tags they have. When you use a card, they charge you at least the price they pay to process your card, which is fair but is uncompetitive and has completely turned me off of using their business unless it’s already too late to drive anywhere else before they close. (7PM for liquor stores in SC)
I think it would greatly benefit them to at least have an obvious sign stating the price difference for using a card, or just making everyone pay the same price. It would likely increase repeat business. A boost in customer service would be a great idea too, but that’s not as simple and takes a lot of time and money to accomplish (higher employee pay for more skill, training, etc.)
Other than these points, their selection of liquor is pretty good, especially if you like mini bottles. It’s also a bonus that their store is clean and tidy.
