March 2023 by Megan Morais
My husband and I booked this venue for our ceremony and celebration this month (February 2023). It’s a beautiful building and great for no more than 60 guests unless it’s ceremony only then more is fine. We used them for our reception celebration as well with promise they were able to flip the venue within 30-40 minutes. Unfortunately their management was not professional. When we booked a year out, the events manager, CC, was helpful in the beginning but very busy so we did not have much communication, however she was very reassuring and accommodating when we did speak. Around a month prior to our wedding date, we received an email that staff changes would be occurring with no specifics or follow-up calls and no indication our venue contact would change. Two weeks prior to our date, I received a slightly unprofessional text from a new contact of I’on chapel that they needed to speak with us that day - no prior phone calls, no introductions prior to this. It was TWO WEEKS before my wedding day that I was contacted via text - not phone call. Unfortunately it wasn’t even initially to check in on our plans or to officially introduce themselves as our new contacts, rather, they were concerned that their previous employee would be our day of coordinator. To avoid the potential drama, we decided to go with I’on Chapel (Mikaela) for day of coordination. We met Mikaela and her assistant and we provided them extremely detailed information for our day and my wedding day binder as well as separated bags of decor with sticky notes for all items and a full layout of ceremony and reception plans. The manager, Mikaela, did not respond to my texts day of our wedding and we were not provided contact info for the assistant. I dropped all decor off and then got the assistant’s number directly. In the end, our ceremony was beautiful but the flip was chaotic and disorganized, the assistant was barely available so as the bride, I was inundated with questions and people following me around the whole evening, reception decor was incomplete, charcuterie boards were never changed out, bottled cokes for our pizza delivery never set out, dessert wasn’t even out - my mom and I (bride) had to put it out or that too wouldn’t have been provided to our guests. My family offered to help with the flip to make it quicker but the assistant assured us she had a team coming however that obviously didn’t work out. We came home with decor and favors never used and my vision for my wedding celebration never came to fruition. Our parents noted the disorganization and how flustered/unavailable the assistant was all night - rarely seen. And if it weren’t for our great DJ, bartender and magic mirror vendors it would have been disastrous. I rarely write reviews but the wedding day is important so I hope this helps others make up their mind. If you choose I’on Chapel- do not go near their coordination offer (we deeply regret not going with one of our other two coordinator options) and find another location for your reception/celebration. Ceremony only went well because it’s a naturally beautiful venue and candles and chairs can’t go wrong! We are still waiting to hear back from the manager regarding this outcome. Three stars because the venue itself is lovely - management is an extremely important aspect of a successful wedding day and I’on just didn’t have it.

Beautiful venue for wedding, party or reception hall. Spacious yet cozy.

Super unprofessional. The night before our bride finds out there is a church service happening during the hours she paid for the venue. The night before. That should have been discussed during the first meeting with the coordinator of Ion Meeting House. Not only did this happen but the reverend of this church service was acting like a child and yelled at the bridal party while we were getting ready. Not very godly of you but I guess you'll ask for forgiveness later. When this happened CeCe should have handle the situation but instead we had to step in and argue with the reverend who's also "a lawyer". Hope she argues better for her clients since she was trash at arguing with us. They should refund a deposit or something to our bride since her time for set up was pushed back from 9am to 11am and wasn't informed until the night before her wedding day.

The facility is very nice, beautiful on the inside. The outside entrance gate is very nice for pictures.I did not give the 5 star because, the floor was not swept very well from the event before us. The yard maintenance could be better for aesthetics. The facility is in a lovely area with plenty of cafés, bars, and places to stay.

I am a military bride trying to put together a wedding and I had to work very hard to get a hold of someone working here. Our schedule is always moving so I was hoping to be able to get something sorted out sooner than later. However, I emailed, called, and texted per the request of the voicemail on the main contact number with no response. When I finally got a response (weeks later) the price and amenity information was different than what was listed on the website. After detailing what I would like for a small wedding (20 people) with light bites (charcuterie) it was inexplicably going to cost $11,000. This quote included things like the organization of vendors for photography, hair, and makeup, etc. but when I asked for an itemized list of expenses so I could potentially cut out some services I was told that they only had "guestimates" on what it would cost. Obviously not a professional response. I wish that it had worked out better because the venue looks amazing, but my experience with the lack of communication and professionalism from the management left me with the decision to look elsewhere.

This is a beautiful indoor space but the the grounds have not been kept up properly. We were told when we booked the space that the planters would be refreshed and they were dried out and looked terrible. We paid to use the space for the rehearsal and the air was off and it was terribly hot. Clearly no one had checked the space as the toilet in the men’s room was broken when we arrived for our event. We paid the “cleaning fee” of $150 but received a call the day after our event that it only included putting the chairs away and sweeping. Improvements in customer service and maintenance could make all the difference.

What a beautiful venue! We had my daughters bridal shower brunch there and Lauren the venue manager couldn't have been nicer or more helpful! It was perfect and such a special day. I know they will be adding some furniture to a bridal room to make it even more beautiful, but its a perfect clean slate to get creative.

As someone who works in the event field, when the pandemic hit and event professionals were scrambling for new social media content, the I'On Chapel was quick to respond to us and allow us to create content in the form of a Styled Shoot. Not only were we allowed on the grounds, but we were also given access for the entirety of the day to shoot the inside and witnessed how beautiful it was to see the light change throughout the day. It made for magnificent photos and allowed us to try new things. We can't wait to be back to shoot more content and even serve all future weddings and events!

I had the pleasure of being a guest at my dear friend’s intimate wedding at the I’On Chapel. I must say, I knew nothing about the venue prior to my attending, but was blown away at the attention to detail Pam put into making the day perfect. This is definitely the place for a smaller gathering, but it inviting and charming. I recommend taking a look at this hidden treasure for your special event.

We got married October 3 2020 and it was amazing! We chose this place because it seemed like “us”. Pam is so sweet and very responsive. It’s a cute place to get married if you’re looking for something for an intimate wedding! We may do our vowel renewal there in the future!

This is such a beautiful venue and I highly recommend checking it out if you're considering a Lowcountry wedding! The space is fresh, bright, and easily adaptable to a variety of decorative styles. This venue is also extremely reasonable and the staff is very accommodating!

My brother was married here. I can’t say enough about the setup, the staff and the location. The family enjoyed every minute of it. We couldn’t recommend a better place. Thank you again for all the hard work, time and energy they put forth.

Sadly, my fiance and I had to cancel our wedding due to the entire COVID 19 Pandemic. Our reception venue had to cancel on us as they could not abide by the social distancing ordinance for our 25 guests. At this time, we can not reschedule as we are still currently living in a situation of uncertainty, and do not wish to put any of our guests at risk health wise. We provided more than a months notice prior to our cancellation. In light of the current extenuating circumstances, a full refund of our deposit would have been the right thing to do. Instead, our $500.00 deposit was kept. We have since followed up regarding the refundable $150.00 for cleaning expenses. Obviously, with no venue taking place, there was no clean-up. There has been no response from either Pam, or the owner of Ten Thousand Years, LLC. We are already deeply saddened by the fact that we had to cancel our wedding. Making no concessions, in light of the Pandemic, seems unjust. I would not ever recommend this venue in the future.

Great place for a wedding.
